bitcoin would definitely be destroyed in my opinion, people would be selling it because they would think that satoshi will sell his bitcoins
If satoshi did not sell all his bitcoins when the price hit an all time high of 1k+ dollars 3 years ago, there's no reason to sell them now. That's not sound logic at all. There are near infinite possible scenarios that could explain why he didn't sell back then and there is no guarantee that he won't sell in the future. The more Bitcoin users there are, the higher the chances the market could survive the dump. If Bitcoin had been inflationary, eventually his 1 million would've become insignificant. However, because the total number of Bitcoins that can possibly exist is finite, the 1 million Bitcoins will always have same tremendous power and the resulting damages from a dump will always be severe.

Satoshi have zero reasons to reveal himself. He probably put a lot of Bitcoins into different addresses. If he wants to buy something, he'll just use one of his many addresses to buy that. He's a multimillionaire now but he probably isn't listed in the list of the wealthiest person in the world because his money is in Bitcoin form. Revealing himself would just result to people begging for donations, even you don't want that.

What do you think that will happen once the real Satoshi reveals himself (and proves that he created Bitcoin)? Will Bitcoin ever be the same? Will governments try to pursue Satoshi and put him in jail?
you ask this question as if it is something that is planned to happen! but i think it will be some temporary chaos and depending on how things shape out to be like it can be small chaos or a big one but eventually bitcoin will continue being the same thing as ever. remember that bitcoin is decentralized and even if satoshi is revealed he can not be the center of bitcoin because that would make it centralized. and as for jail, why would this happen!!! there is nothing illegal with what he has created. he should be awarded a prize for the revolution he created. This will be something interesting to know, once it happens (if it ever does) sometime in the future. Please feel free to share your thoughts here. my thought is that this will never happen

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Well, I was thinking that goverments might jail Satoshi in the case that he would not be able to pay all those taxes (depending on the country of residence) as it is a hefty sum of money. Also, making a technology that goes against banks and the monetary system of governments might also be a case of him going to jail. And for sure, even if Satoshi would reveal himself to the public he would have no control over Bitcoin as it is decentralized. At first, in a moment I've thought that Craig Wright was the real Nakamoto, but then I figured out that he was a joker as he couldn't prove that he owns the first Bitcoin block (and/or Genesis Block) with his keys to the public. The day that we see that coins from Satoshi gets "moved" to another address and it will be the day that Satoshi has returned.

Satoshi would never reveal itself. This is what makes Bitcoin what it is. The creator doesn't care about recognition. It's a cypherpunk style. Just create.. . but create a huge brilliant system. Many things in the engineering and in the programming world works this way. I saw lotta of projects around the world did by amazing minds who doesn't care about recognition. Just use it and remember "my name".

Thanks for your reply mate. I have found this article very interesting. Satoshi may never be found (as probably he/she is dead) but at least he created a revolutionary technology which is changing the world. Now I have seen that many organizations and/or individuals have been trying to patent blockchain technology (like Craig Wright). I wonder if they could have success in this.

If he wanted publicity, he will do it long time ago. Such action will just create a lot unnecessary problems for this person, legal, taxes, negative press etc. In anonymity he can enjoy himself, travel around the world etc, without any pressure. I'm sure that government trying to find Satoshi but it's seems he is smarter Any way, Bitcoin is not only Satoshi but much, much more.

As I understand it, just keeping bitcoins is not taxable in most jurisdictions. It is only after you convert them, say, to dollars, you will have to pay either the property tax (if you mined them) or the capital gains tax (if you bought them) should you reside in the US. Since Satoshi didn't buy these bitcoins, he could demand a tax reduction, and that is where things could get extremely interesting. Though his confirmed expenses might be minuscule (I mean electricity bills, depreciation of equipment, etc), he might still claim that he spent years developing Bitcoin. So it is really hard to tell what this story could potentially end up with. In any case, this is not what he might get in prison for... Though this doesn't exclude that he might be put behind the bars for something else

Then his bitcoins will finally move and it is good to the economy of bitcoin. And maybe a positive effect on price also. But more importantly, we would know who are we going to thank for a great invention he has given us.

Satoshi still in hiding someone people are saying that it is dead but bitcoin.org are giving alert that said satoshi nakamoto giving a large about retirement plan for bitcoin.. So it means for me it is alive and i think he is hiding for security reason that is why he made bitcoin anonymously for its own safe.. and other people who are using it..

I sometimes wonder if satoshi revealed himself and could be proven to be THE satoshi then could even he repair the current problems that bitcoin is facing. Im doubting he could but it would be good to have some sort of "leader" to see what he thinks is the next best move is for bitcoin.

It cuts both ways Let's assume that he finally decides to reveal his identity, after so many years being in "exile". People are watching in surprise, monkeys are listening in perplexity, but everyone is otherwise happy overall. But then Bitcoin suddenly collapses (for whatever reason), and folks start blaming him for losing their hard earned money. It doesn't matter that ultimately it was their choice and consequently their fault too, they will still make him into a scapegoat. In this way, it may be a wise decision to keep anonymity after all Bitcointalk back-office, with theymos in the middle Server room

I don't really think anybody could convince me beyond a reasonable doubt that they were Satoshi.
My 'fun' theory is that Satoshi is Hal Finney, or he was part of the group that is Satoshi, and he is dead.

Honestly speaking creation of bitcoin is one thing and running it is another(its decentralized) so if satoshi was ever going to prove himself to the public probably the least thing he would get is a noble prize and as for going to jail well he did not create the crime for being a genius ....so why would he\she go to jail and what would be the charge

If Satoshi reveals himself that would be actualy good news for Bitcoin. If that person could proove that it's real and true Satoshi. That would make good impact on Bitcoin and probably would promote it even more. But somehow I'm not convinced that we will ever find out who the real Satoshi is.

After all, the hashing function used for Bitcoin cryptography was actually developed by the NSA... So don't get surprised if he eventually shows up at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport
