Bitcoin was mentioned in the TV series Salvation season 2, although I'm not entirely sure, I think it was episode 6, and it was mentioned in episodes after that. In any case, if you want to see what a world looks like in which people are fighting to prevent an asteroid from hitting the earth, and at the same time there is an attempted coup in the White House and Bitcoin is involved. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6170874

00:07:11,689 --> 00:07:14,913 I found it in my sister's snow globe. From that box of stuff you gave me.
00:07:15,099 --> 00:07:16,488 What is it?
00:07:16,527 --> 00:07:18,148 Some kind of encryption key.

00:07:24,515 --> 00:07:26,101 Bitcoin, the cryptocurrency.
00:07:26,129 --> 00:07:27,214 Uh-huh.

Hey everyone! Happy to see the thread still up and running. I watch a lot of TV shows, which is perhaps why I know one that doesn't seem to be on the list, but it mentioned cryptos (and I think Bitcoin specifically as well). It's a show called Atypical, and it's Season 2, episode 5. There's a thread about it on Reddit. Also, in the category of what isn't in English, Bitcoin was mentioned in a recent Ukrainian movie (in Ukrainian language) "Luxembourg, Luxembourg", I've made a thread about it here.

I've just started the latest episode of 'Futurama'. In some parts of the world it's labelled Season 8, Episode 3 and in other parts it's Season 11, Episode 3.
The episode opens with the Professor declaring Planet Express is bankrupt because his Bitcoin investment didn't go to plan. But then he sees the news saying that the price has rebounded again. So he gets the idea to mine the rare metal which mining chips are made from.
Expect the usual lazy comments of "pyramid scheme" and jabs about supposed environmental concerns.

Movie: Vacation Friends 2 mentioned about cryptocurrency called SCOM coin. Actually, it is related to the climax of the movie too. Ron invested $32,000 despite the volatility of cryptocurrency. The market boomed overnight, making Ron a multimillionaire which he used to pay for the drug dealers 5 million as ransom since it was the demanded amount to relieve Reese.full plot : Vacation Friends 2

Bitcoin is mentioned in the 2nd episode of the 1st season of the series 'The Night Agent' on Netflix:
02:33 --> 02:39 Someone's in our goddamn system. We're completely locked out. Everything's shut down.
02:39 --> 00:02:41 Um, sorry, what's going on?
02:41 --> 00:02:49 The hackers just contacted us. They want 7.2 million in Bitcoin, or they release our proprietary technology online, which will sink us.

Bitcoin, blockchain and crypto are mentioned in 'They Cloned Tyrone' on Netflix at around 9 minutes: "Blockchain. That's right, motherfucker. Blockchain. You remember, uh, Thursday Tony, that trick I used to see on Tuesdays, who lost his house investing in some bootleg Bitcoin? Well, his plight got me researching this shit. Cryptocurrency's a bubble, everybody knows that. But blockchain? Oh, that shit the future."A bit cliche right? Like it's 2015. Invert the words bitcoin and blockchain and you get something that actually makes sense.

Little mention of Bitcoin by Jennifer Aniston in the series 'The Morning Show', S03E04 at 23:59: "I have a farm. - You do? -Completely self-sustainable. - What do you grow? Bitcoin?" Don't really understand the ref (mining farm? Because the guy works in tech? Ok...) but it's fun

Oh my, Cryptocurrency is mentioned in the last Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, that's huge:
- At 37 min, Ethan Hunt/Tom Cruise stops a girl in an airport, pickpockets a flash drive from her and says that there 4 millions in crypto on it.
- Then at around 2 hours and 6 minutes, a strange transaction takes place: someone has to pay 100 millions USD in crypto to the same girl (who is now disguised in another girl, anyway that's bs) and she has to enter her IBAN on an app (wut?), which then take an awful lot of time... "decrypting Blockchain" - I swear it's written as is. They clearly did not put a lot of work into this. NGMI.

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this Netflix documentary “Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King” which came in 2022. From the name, you can tell for sure that it is centered on cryptocurrency, however, I did not enjoy watching. Maybe it’s me but I got bored after all the excitement that I was going to watch something based on cryptocurrency. I’m also not sure how possible it is, it would have been great to add the ratings of these movies included in the thread.

Bitcon (2022) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt14463198/Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwbIhXrJhIwhttps://enspiremag.com/2022/09/bitcon-movie-to-be-released-this-october/Announced this Tuesday, Bitcon is an ultra-modern take on the heist movie, launching the genre into the very latest of the 21st century. Directed by Matt Osterman, the film tells the story of a couple searching for a missing hard drive containing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cryptocurrency stored inside it.
The film follows Ty (Noah Anderson) and Jess (Ella Ma), an obvious power couple searching for the aforementioned precious cargo for the shady-but-also-nerdy Lew (Jeremy Davies). Commenting on his goal for the story, Osterman writes, “Technology is our trojan horse to tell a redemptive story of flawed, marginalized, and smart characters all vying for a better life.” Using streaming and cryptocurrency as the platform, Osterman is able to blend a modern and diverse cast with a disruptive technology to tell a compelling and up-to-date story.
Bitcon’s trailer was released via Osterman’s and Bitcon’s Twitter accounts. It continuously weaves through suspense and throws the viewer back into action with Ty, who always ends up right at the center of attention. It makes use of language familiar with blockchain enthusiasts, such as “tumbling” and even ends with a nod to Bitcoin mining (and its consequent dilemma of high energy usage).
On his vision for the film, Osterman states, “The story was originally inspired when I heard about the poor bloke who lost a hard drive with 8000 bitcoins on it now worth hundreds of millions of USD.” This idea stems from the saying “Not your keys, not your coins” which is popular among Bitcoiners. Looks like the full thing is on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys0vkNXHLDUI’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this Netflix documentary “Trust No One: The Hunt for the Crypto King” which came in 2022. After some time of less activity here in the forum, I will now be regularly active again. For this reason, I'm thinking about redesigning this thread or even restarting it from scratch. I'm just wondering in which format I should do this, since Bitcoin and crypto are now anchored in the mainstream and there are a lot of mentions in films/series, unlike when I started the thread a few years ago .
Do you have any ideas on how to start a new thread? Should the list still be in the OP or should I keep an external list (e.g. Google Spreadsheets) to have the opportunity to sort/filter? Or should we no longer keep a list at all and just continue the course of the thread with the mentions as documentation?

I think it is important to maintain a list, even if bitcoin is becoming more and more mainstream. It remains interesting to keep track of the films and series where it is mentioned and featured. It has a sort of historical value, and a list is the best way to do it because it is easier and more practical than to read every post in this thread. In my opinion, the best option would be an external list (or even maybe a website) that could be updated by a few serious contributors based on the propositions here, and after verification. I have no idea how it could be done, and if it would be easy, but I think it could be great to have something like that.

if you want different lists/mentions prioritised: id say format the OP to include all mentions so far.. then lock the topic for posterity. then create a new topic that includes all mentions in OP with a better guide to what specific mentions you want in future if however you just want to continue as is: then just continue in this topic you could also create a google drive doc to allow searches. but most people on this forum dont want to see a topic with no substance/info and be told to visit google for info(ive tried for years to get people to use google to find data, it never goes well, they just want to read whatever they see on the forum as gospel)

If its not broke don't fix it. This thread seems fine to me but if you wanted to run an additional spreadsheet I don't see anything wrong with that but I certainly don't think it's necessary.
