I clicked on that map but it didn't say where that atm you used is.  Maybe it's my phone.  Never heard of Ozarka water, so I assume it was in a southern state or Midwest US?

Anyway, cool beans.  I'd probably end up using one of these things if they came to my town--if I didn't get raped with fees.

Anyone else seen Bitcoin ATM in random places?

I just posted in other thread that we have also Bitcoin ATM here in my country which is just few kilometers away from my work office. It was established last year and I don't know if it's still there. Haven't seen it personally nor tried it. Because there was a topic about bitcoin ATM today, I want to visit the location of the said machine after Halloween break since we have lots of works this week.

The picture looks cool! I haven't used any Bitcoin ATM because we don't have one in the place where I live in. The truth is very few people know about bitcoin in my country. I look forward to use one some day in future.

I had to enter my phone number and get a confirmation code, and after that just insert cash.
Why do they need your phone number? Is that a legal requirement?

I was expecting you'd enter your bank pas like a normal ATM, and get Bitcoins instead of cash. But it makes sense to use cash, so it can go both ways directly.

Quote
It even printed out a receipt.
How did you get the Bitcoins? Printed on the same receipt?

The screen says "Withdraw Cash", if that means you have to wait for 1 (or 6?) confirmations, how does that work? Do you have to wait at the machine and guard it for minutes to hours until your money comes out? What if more people want to use it?

I don't think it's a legal requirement for the phone number, probably just a way for the ATM company to build a list for marketing purposes.  I have used the Skyhook machines which do not require a phone number.

The receipt was optional, you could also receive a text receipt or email confirmation. I used a Blockchain app loaded with some addresses in view-only so no private keys stored. Then scanned the QR code of the address I wanted the funds sent too, and waited around for it to showup on blockchain.

I'm not sure about selling Bitcoins for cash and how that works. I'll have to try it out next time.

Good to see that bitcoin is slowly but surely progressing to become a major currency and a lot of people are using bitcoin now. But the ATM seems like provided by a third party exchanger who might be taking a fat fees for every withdrawal from this machine.

But it seems useless to me to spend bitcoin to buy gas. Please track the progress bitcoin is making in terms of price. You can wait a little longer and then sell your bitcoin to buy buy something really important instead of everyday goods.

You're so lucky to have a bitcoin ATM in your area and have the opportunity to use it Grin in my place bitcoin doesn't seem to be popular so nobody understands what I say when it comes to bitcoin so there is nearly no shop here accepts bitcoin and I've not got any chance to use bitcoin in real life like you do.

Wow nice.I hope some countries will follow this kind of innovation. Adapting this bitcoin will  only put bitcoin to the limelight and many will become curious and want to have one. This is also a good publicity for bitcoin.

Saw on the Bitcoin atm maps there was a new ATM at a gas station nearby.
http://bitcoinbarrel.com/bitcoin-atm-map/

So I went to check it out:

The clerk said they've only had it a week and I was the first person to use it. I had to enter my phone number and get a confirmation code, and after that just insert cash. It even printed out a receipt.

I've only used an ATM a few times with this being the first big ATM. Before that they were the smaller Skyhook machines which were still pretty cool.

Anyone else seen Bitcoin ATM in random places?

Can't believe a gas station would have a BTM (Bitcoin Teller Machine), simply amazing how BTC projects are starting to spread.

In all honesty as more and more Bitcoin related services start popping up into the real world there'll be much more fun using them.

Take it to 20 years from now, we should see public venue with serious improvements, not just with Cryptocurrency alone, but from significant mass exposure in all areas of the mobile, financial + social aspects.

Finding a bitcoin ATM at random places must be rare event, in my country we have only one BTM that too in busy shopping mall.
Implicitly this shows good development to bitcoin adoption, sooner we may see bitcoin ATMs every street of big cities in USA ?

Wow that is nice, see if you can find out what model it is.

According to some information I got, the Bitcoin ATM was distributed by San Diego, California’s Genesis Inc. which, as the fourth largest Bitcoin ATM software developer, currently has a greater market share than Robocoin. The company has also provided Bitcoinnect with their ATM models.

They are so called Genesis Machines.

I saw this in other forum according to them this bitcoin ATM is in makati.. i want to go there just to test it and i think we are in new generation we are experience of adoption with bitcoin here in my country. and i hope they can increase more atm in philippines so that i dont need to go in other banks atm to withdraw bitcoins.

It's just along  Makati Avenue, Makati City. Smiley You are from Pasig right? Just 2 rides.

I didn't know this map existed, thanks for posting!
There is a Bitcoin ATM on the way I come home from work. I may not be able to get there today, but maybe I can stop by next week and post an update!

What's the difference between the Withdraw Cash option and Redeem option? I've heard about Coinsecure ATMs but they are not available in my city but it's a good way of promoting the currency. But still there is not much demand for bitcoins or users interested in this currency due to which it would not be feasible to have such ATMs in my city.

Wow! Amazing that a gas station is now already accepting bitcoins for loading gas with it. I hope you could have your own gas station here in my country.

This is a good indication that bitcoin is now being popular and considered by some businesses.

Its kinda making me excite to keep on using and supporting bitcoins.

Day by day, Bitcoin usage is improving. Yesterday, i heard that Bitcoin is accepted as fees payment in a school in india. Now Bitcoin ATM in a gas station. It seems the days of using Bitcoins for our day to day needs are not far away.
