ZOIN

Zoin is a cryptocurrency that has anonymity features based on the Zerocoin protocol.

http://spar.isi.jhu.edu/~mgreen/ZerocoinOakland.pdf

Launch date

5 Nov 2016

What is the Zoin?

Zoin uses the Zerocoin protocol. The Zerocoin protocol uses zero-knowledge proofs to ensure that financial transactions are anonymous.

The vision of Zoin is to create a coin that is evolving through the community, therefore the founder reward was removed.

PoW Algo

- Lyra2Zoin - Lyra2(2, 330, 256)

- Memory intensive PoW uses an 8MB Lyra2 matrix

Block emission

- Initial reward: 100 ZOI

- Target time: 2.5 minutes

- Reward halves every 105000 blocks (six months)

- Tail emission of 10 ZOI after two years

- For first six months 20% of the block reward is allocated for Zoin development. (hardfork at block 5000 to stop reward)

- Total coins: ~21 million plus tail emission after two years of ~10% per year

- Mined blocks mature in 120 blocks

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Will there be a one trillion dollar bounty for GPU miner?

Will you inform us what's your real name and what development we will see as 20% sounds unrealistic just for copy paste

Wondering if the name choice was influenced by my recent PRE-ANN of "Dwoin".

what the coin differ from zcash?

It is based of ZCoin, which is based of the original Zerocoin concept, so it shares differences ZCoin has with ZCash.

Both use zero-knowledge crypto to hide the destination address of coins.

It requires less resources to do zerocoin transactions, but it doesn't hide amounts the same way zcash does, instead it uses a standard denomination of 1 coin currently.

linux wallet dev Huh

You can build the wallet from the command line (Ubuntu 14.04 recommended):

{
# Install libraries
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin -y
sudo apt-get update -y
sudo apt-get install build-essential curl git -y
sudo apt-get install libminiupnpc-dev -y
sudo apt-get install libssl-dev m4 -y
sudo apt-get install libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev -y
sudo apt-get install libboost-all-dev -y
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev -y
sudo apt-get install automake make pkg-config -y
sudo apt-get install libtool -y
sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev -y
sudo apt-get install libqrencode-dev -y
# Get source
git clone https://github.com/zoin/zoin.git
cd zoin
}

Building the QT UI:

qmake zoin(dot)pro                   (replace (dot) with a .)
make -f Makefile
./zoin-qt

Building the daemon:

cd src
make -f makefile.unix
mkdir ~/.zoin
nano ~/.zoin/zoin.conf
./zoind --daemon
./zoind getinfo
./zoind setgenerate true 4

Example zoin.conf:

rpcuser=myusername
rpcpassword=mypassword
server=1
