1. Code is at

https://github.com/z-classic/zclassic

Please:
1. Mine the testnet and submit bug reports

2. Add seed nodes for launch in a few days

3. Help build binaries for Windows / Mac

I don't get 20% tax here, so I need your help!

Edit: updated post with new url / info

As much as I disagree with the 20% "tax" I don't think forks without it offer anything at all. Especially long term.

I strongly belive we should just fork the existing Zcash with a much lower dev fee. Maybe 0.5% instead of 20%.

Personally, I wouldn't even mind a longer than a 4 years of dev fee period as long as it's actually reasonable and most importantly it doesn't get in the way of proper distribution and decentralization.

Not your keys, not your coins!

Zclassic has a genesis block and single node testnet up:

./src/zcashd -connect=54.191.72.102

It is kind of scary that anyone's code could be copied so quick though. Perhaps waiting a few months would be better.

It uses the same trusted parameters Zcash set up.

I am interested in this, did you use the same sprout-proving.key (980MB) used by Zcash to verify keys etc. or did you generate your own? I am asking because this info seems to suggest it was created just for zcash

https://github.com/zcash/mpc

As there isn't full information on how this is generated, how did you do it?

There is no pool.  You'd have to make one.

I changed the ip for the server to 54.191.72.102

pool ?
you don't need a pool to mine blocks on a cpu right now with the network having very little power.

1. I took out the 20% founder's reward for Zcash here:

https://github.com/heyrhett/zcash-minus-founders-reward

2. I have code ready to mine a new genesis block whenever we are ready.

3.  Right now, I need seed nodes to get the network started.

I have no interest in running this myself, or as a pump-and-dump scam where I try to mine a lot of coins early and pump it later.  This is only going to happen if people want it, and it's a community effort.

Please discuss more here:

Yes, you use the same trusted setup.

You used the exact same file from https://s3.amazonaws.com/zcashfinalmpc/sprout-proving.key

Does that work to verify keys and everything once you changed the code? I thought it was generated from the unique source of Zcash so if you changed the source you would need to generate another one?

Yes, Zclassic uses the same file.

No Zcash continues to change their code.  In fact, they are at 1.0.1 already due to a bugfix.
