Exactly, the word "IPFS" does not tell anything to most people. Its just an obscure abbreviation. "Torrents" is the word, it is what adds the popularity to this project!

See, I agree IPFS is a great tech, but its nothing helping to market the project. Its the tech for techies for now. So its better to hide the fact this is mostly based on IPFS, with torrents just being in reserve

most traders I know bought vidz only because of IPST and torrent is synonimous with 2005 tech that no one uses in 2017, sounds outdated, and already exists. IPST so far been mostly theoretical, and vidz will be the first IPFS experience for 99% of users. lbry has nothing to show for itself but 1000% inflation and only promises, bad name, and forget instant play.

I think you're mistaken. The big boys are aware it's IPFS, this is why they knew this was going up and going to be way bigger than a torrent coin could. Did you care it played fast? because torrents can't do that. Anyone who tested the website tested IPFS.
