Quote from: ”frcat”
But will I get for node if I dont have any coins?
The Qtum Core wallet application has three operating modes:

#1 a full node which makes peer-to-peer connections to the Qtum network, syncs the blockchain, and validates and relays all blocks and transactions

#2 a wallet which holds private keys and allows sending transactions and showing balances, and

#3 reaching proof-of-stake consensus as a block producer by staking coins.

The wallet can be operated in any of these modes: #1, #1 + #2, or #1 + #2 + #3.

Quote from: ”frcat”
But will I get for node if I dont have any coins?
Yes, operating a full node (#1) does not require coins, and in fact can participate in the Qtum Galaxy Full Nodes contest now.

Quote from: ”frcat”
For staking there is not needed run a node?
Only the Qtum Core wallet, running as a node, wallet and proof of stake consensus (#1 + #2 + #3), can participate in staking.

Quote from: ”frcat”
What about staking rewards? How many annual % rewards?
The current block reward is 4.0 QTUM, plus a share of transaction fees and gas. I answered the annual ROI question previously, about 5%.

Hope this helps.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

so you are saying you are buying a coin with 7 full nodes?   i do not think you really understand blockchain ....

Pretty clear who doesn't understand blockchain. It's not about decentralisation for decentralisation's sake. It's about how to create a trustless system. If you can do that with fewer nodes, then making the system more centralised is irrelevant. Why? Because it's about removing the human element from the equation (or mechanising it through incentives). Large-scale decentralisation is one way to do that. There may be other ways!

A ridiculous example would be a completely tamper-proof node (a black box) equipped with automatic self-defence systems - anyone who tries to meddle with the box or its Internet connection dies instantly. In this case, just one node would suffice to provide a trustless system (provided all the software has been independently audited).

Qtum Galaxy Update

Qtum Galaxy is off to a strong start with over 700 new nodes added to the Qtum network in the past 5 days! With the chance at winning a Star, Satellite, or Stellar award, there’s no wonder as to why so many people are joining.

Get more details and participate at https://galaxy.qtum.org/

Call to Duty — Phone a Friend

A new prize category was added this time around and it is the Planet Award, where you can win by referring your friends to take part in the fun with their own Qtum nodes. Invite your friends and support your local community. The node map at https://qtum.org/en/product/nodemap shows the global node distribution with country ranks. Currently, South Korea is first, followed by the US, and China. Is your country on the list? Launch your node and represent!

Qtum Galaxy Update

We are about halfway through the Qtum Galaxy Full Nodes Incentive Program, but the glass is way more than half full, with over 400 awards left to give out. Last Friday saw the first batch of the weekly Stellar Awards, Lucky Star Awards (~12 a day) are a little over halfway through, and all the Planet Awards and Satellite Awards remain to be claimed after the program ends on January 5th.

There is still plenty of time to join and refer your friends. Get more information and sign up at https://galaxy.qtum.org/

So is this the first stable coin plegged to Chinese Yuan? Is this coin backed by some big companies or justby Qtum foundation?

This is operated by a stable coin company QuickCash from Singapore. Stable coins are backed by people depositing fiat currency. QuickCash has stable coins on Qtum and Ethereum.

Qtum Galaxy Update

Week of December 23 https://medium.com/@Qtum/qtum-galaxy-update-2dcfd2577f2b

Going into the weekend there is one more week of Qtum Galaxy — Full Nodes incentive Program, with a little over 100 Lucky Star awards to be given out, 40 Stellar Awards (20 each on December 27 and January 3), 50 rewards in the Twitter Lucky Draw, and the Planet Awards and Satellite Awards remain to be claimed after the Program ends on January 5th.

There is still plenty of time to join and refer your friends. And still, plenty of time to learn how to run a Qtum node and compete for some tasty awards! Get more information and sign up at: https://galaxy.qtum.org/

Virtual Private Servers in the Cloud

It is easy to follow the directions at https://galaxy.qtum.org/ (see the tutorial link in Step 5 for Windows, Mac, and Linux) for a desktop personal computer. You can also run nodes for Qtum Galaxy as a VPS (Virtual Private Server) in cloud data centers. This is an approach taken by some more experienced community members for Qtum Galaxy and is an easy way to add more nodes. Qtum Galaxy is all about adding Qtum nodes, the more the merrier, with more prize opportunities. To add a node on a PC or even Raspberry Pi takes setting up another computer, but setting up a VPS in the cloud only takes a few clicks, and once you understand how, it is easy to add a few more.

We have published a full disclosure of a DoS vulnerability we found in Qtum earlier this year, which has now been fixed in Qtum for quite some time.
