Well, I would say that I did this back in 2014. My mother already deposited all the money I need to pay for school for the year and also some allowance for my daily needs. I gambled around half of it on NBA odds. I lost that half. So I lived on really cheap food and really avoided buying anything. I even tried to avoid buying things I need like books just to save money. Was a gruesome year for me, luckily I got through. Wouldn't do that again.

How bout you guys, would you do it?
I ever spent my college fund which effected so bad for my education.
I won't do the same mistake twice, moreover use my children school funds, never ever. Grin
My gambling funds is separated from any other, so I always gambling and lose of course but not affected my life a lot, just another spending on gambling sites.

As much as I am addicted to gambling i don't think that i would ever gamble away such important funds, especially if the funds are not there for myself in the first place, but are my childrens'.

However if they are short anyway on their school funds, I would go for it Tongue

wtf . man you've been through a very risky situation and it''s very difficult to be in the situation where you only a limited budget but it's good that you made your last budget to be suitable for your needs for that year Grin and good thing that you've learned from that mistake and you've decided to never do it again . I am also a student so I understand how is it hard for you to fit the budget you have although you already know that it could be insufficient .

I don't think so, I would always put education first before gambling or any other addiction or vices that I might have. Education is just something that you're going to need once you're an adult to survive. It would be really hard for you to keep up with all the expenses most especially if you live in the city when you're not a degree holder. You will be forced to either move to the province or to work like a dog.

Reading all of the replies here I mostly see everyone doesn't want to do it. Even me I won't even do that because your parents will lose trust on you if they found out that you gambled the money that they gave you.

Yup, everyone will surely think like that and even the parents would give something a bad thing to us if caught gambling. But we should know that not all parents do it all. Because there are some parents who have different ideas to his gambling. And most of them are people who did not matter to the people they care about. But we never think gambling is the answer to all that we want, because if only have to choose the trading or gambling. I would prefer trading. Because trading is better than gambling.

When i did study, than i have no awareness about gambling, even i didn't play it, when i have finished my study. Actually, i have no interest on gambling, because my friends and my family members didn't have interest on gambling, they thought about gambling very bad thinking, that's why i always avoid it. But last one and half year, when i know about bitcoin than first time, i did dice game, i really enjoy it. So step wise, i started to play gambling.
This is important, gambling is a decision and there is nothing wrong with playing the games but when you are young and still lack maturity is best to avoid it then when you get older and are more mature you can take an informed choice about gambling.

I did this too way back 2012 when I was still in college and I spent 25% of my total fund for paying my tuition fee. Since I am that active with e-sports  betting because I was once a Dota player. Unfortunately, what happened is I lost that amount and that's why I stopped studying by that year because the cashier doesn't want to accept my payment unless I will pay in full.  Cry

I remember wasting a lot of time back in the day trying to become a professional starcraft:bw gamer. It was when e-sports where still very underground in the west and you were labelled a weirdo/nerd for even implying making a living off competitive gaming was a viable idea. I realized it was a waste of time. It's simply impossible to outcompete those damn asians. The south koreans are the best at those games and they get tons of resources to train all day.

I know that feeling of yours with my Dota-Dota 2 experience but it seems that it is not really for me because my parents are blaming me now for addicted to it. And if not just because of it I was able to graduate earlier and I don't have to stop. But I am already on the competitive scene by that time but because of that incident I realize that the money that was being gave by my parents to me for my school fees came from their hard work. That's why I decided to quit 2015.

If you are making good money with competitive gaming I would say that you should continue playing, but if you aren't a top player at age 20 then just forget about it because it's a waste of time. Also the thing with competitive gaming is the games don't last much, they always switch to whatever new games are trendy instead of playing the same game for 10+ years like they used to do with starcraft before the new starcraft 2 was released which btw looks like it was shit compared to the classic bw.

There is a lot of people out there that is really reckless about their investing. It is a bad sign that you would invest something as important as a money given by your parents for a particular goal which is paying your education. I think this is a sign of early addiction to gambling with money.
I mean sometimes taking a risk is worth it, but you can't risk big amounts. Like risking 20 dollars back then to buy 100 BTC would have been a good idea if you felt like it, because its a reasonable risk.

i also do not play with the fund of my children reserve for their education,  i even do not play with the money reserve for my daily expenses, i only play gambling with my pocket money that i can easy bare if i lose it.

This is the right approach to it since we must keep our gambling money and our expenses money apart so there is no temptation to use our expenses money in gambling that way if you run out of money in your gambling account you will stop playing and do something else.

That is the best thing to do. I wouldn't use my savings, my salary to gamble and surely I wouldn't use my children school fund to gamble. Their future is much more important than an unpredictable gambling game. Who do it is risking all the life of a child in 1 minute sometimes, if the player gets a long lose streak. Everything is gone in a fast gambling game. Total crazy who do this kind of thing.

Even it is a true experience, I like to suggest you not to share this here after as it might temp other new gamblers to risk their committed money into gambling. I mean to say we do not set wrong example for the new innocent gamblers. Because that might lead to big disasters indirectly.

No, because we can screw our future but damage our childs future its insane, i wont take any risk with the money that belongs to the childs, in fact i just risk sometimes a few satoshis, and those is from my earnings online, i dont use fiat to buy bitcoin, and i wont do that now, its too expensive for me already.

I wont risk that money and i would not play the money that are being reserved for my education no matter what. People do have normal thinking or mind would definitely do the same thing and i could say for those people that would able to touch and spend the money for school they are too dumb enough or stupid enough to waste those money just for gambling.

Well i think every responsible person wouldn't even think about gambling with your child's education. something as important as this should be left to chances and must be put to priority. for me even the earnings that i get from bitcoin, i try to save it for future use much more now that the price is surging. gambling is not at the same level of importance as education and bottom line is we need to make sure that important things doesn't get compromised in any way by unnecessary spending.

Yes, these type of sharing definitely will be misleading many new gamblers.

Actually I do not find the purpose of this discussion whether to warn about the dangers of gambling or just to share others experience in similar incidents. Anyway we need to learn some new lessons from others experience, that is more important.
