Great advice, this is something that I plan on doing, though maybe not going as far as will because I will most likely have much much less bitcoins on my wallet, and as a result, it is not as much of a necessity. I however disagree with you where you said a backup is useless, because if your harddrive crashes and you only had one copy of your wallet, then a backup will be useful. It may not make your wallet any more secure, but that does not mean it won't be useful.

Nice read. I personally have prepared an USB stick with bootable Debian pre-installed with TrueCrypt and Bitcoin.

Now, if you happen to make/have made a significant amount of coins, don't run around telling everybody like the self-satisfied vagina that you are. You wouldn't do that with real money either. At least I hope so.

LOL

Also, you'll look dumb when it drops from 245 to 80.

Hi guys

May someone please help me out on how to retrieve the money of a secure wallet.
So the initial poster says in order the get the money back you should start the Live distro, install the bitcoin client and replace the wallet.dat file, then you are ready to spend your coins. But do I not have to download the full blockchain first each time I wanna spend my bitcoins this way.? This is a bit cumbersome, is there another way, that doesnt require to download the whole blockchain each time.
