One of the best excuse is the devs need time and the coin will moon when xxxx is launched. After that, it would either take a long time for the thing to be launched or the news does not have any effect on the price of the altcoin. I have seen in a few cases where the price of the altcoin drops when people sell when the news is released.

I think #1 might be "One Day"
Often used with future plans & adoption etc.

Or... XYZ coin is legit because.. i made <insert number of BTC's> amount of profit off it.
Because don't forget guys, a scam is a shitcoin i did not make money off of.

But lets see what sort of suggestions we got before finalizing the list.
And lets hope we get some new retorts next year.
I am looking forward to a full year of mad ROI'z and Shitcoining shenanigans.

Mine is: "I am FUDing this coin out of concern for noobs" (but somehow forgot to mention that he put an ad out for anyone to buy his FUD services, and shortly thereafter started going hardcore after a certain anon coin while ignoring its biggest competitor, but I'm sure there's nothing to this story at all--just a coincidence ) Because we all know how the OP never harps endlessly on coincidences adding up to TRUTH!

My guess is that Sputz will never own up to it, but if someone wants to make some money, just get him to make a bet that the comment (it may have been a whole thread, but my memory isn't that good) doesn't exist--it's from 12-18 months ago and coincides with the rise in his Monero hate, but his oddly respectful tone of dash, which anyone has fact checked knows is a scam. My guess is they paid him--though he was modestly anti-monero before that, but it was inline with all the other coins he fuds.
