Is there another way to check balances of addresses? I always used block chain

google: block explorer (not as pretty, but it works)

Also, I really think and hope piuk is going to fix the problem, but like I said above, he's been pretty quiet online for the last week, which is the only reason I doubt at all.  Plus anyone can get hacked...  I would recomend that people NOT try to login to their wallets during this outtage because if some hacker has got control of the server, he could be trying to harvest your passwords in order to unencrypt your wallet, so just wait it out or make a new wallet and test with that one till it's working again...

Their RPC server is down.  Roll Eyes

I'm sure they will be back up in a few hours.

What do you mean?

I have my identifier and password. Is that not enough?

In the end it always boils down to knowing the private key for each address you have funds in. The address and this private key is the only information which matters. Everyone able to access those is able to spend the funds.

Please recall, your coins aren't stored "in" the wallet. They are in the blockchain!

F**K!!!!!!

If you have any amount of coins or funds in ANY online Bitcoin account, where you would say "F**K!!!!!!" if that online service went belly up you have too much stored there.

was a bit strange but just so you know - I tried logging in blockchain with a recently changed password and it didnt recognise it. So I tried my old password, then it worked!

Now the new password is working again. Just thought I'd post this message as that was quite a disconcerting bug.

There was a note from the hosting service that it was an archived version of the site running for a bit.

Oh FFS! Im done with this wallet. During any time something bad happens, they take too long to fix it!. If I got the keys from my wallet from about a week ago and import all of them into multibit even though I have recieved funds since then, will I get my full balance?

A little dramatic of you, don't ya think? If you're going to use a web-service and don't have an SLA signed with them, then you have to expect the occasional inability to access the service for a few minutes. Else, use your own local wallet. It's your money and you control it. That's why bitcoin is awesome.
