This is a list of free banking services (mostly in EU e nearly) that give you the possibility to open an account directly online. Most of them haven't any connections with the Bitcoin world, but they can be useful for being used with the common Bitcoin exchanges or to buy/sell Bitcoin online on the OTC market. I'll try to maintain this list updated. Personal IBAN:- https://n26.com (Germany) - Full bank - It has the 100000 eur accounts bank account failure protection. - https://www.bunq.com (Netherlands) - Full bank - It has the 100000 eur accounts bank account failure protection. - https://revolut.com - (Lithuania) - https://fidor.de (Germany - German language) - It can be very good because it has likely instant transfer in/out from Kraken - Full bank - It has the 100000 eur accounts bank account failure protection. - https://bitwala.com (Germany) - https://glob-coin.com - (France) - https://www.okpay.com (United Kingdom) - https://epayments.com (United Kingdom) - https://moneypolo.com (United Kingdom) - https://transferwise.com - (Germany) - Borderless account - https://wirexapp.com (Lithuania) - https://crypto.com (United Kingdom) - https://spectrocoin.com (Lithuania) - https://leupay.eu (Malta) - https://www.icard.com (Bulgaria) - https://www.monese.com - (United Kingdom) - https://www.paysera.com (Lithuania) - They don't like/allow to sent/receive from exchanges - https://mistertango.com (Lithuania) - Bitcoin friendly - Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1709715.0- http://mycard2go.com - (Germany - Fee) - https://www.payoneer.com (Registered office USA, account in Germany ) - Strong limitations- https://www.sogexia.com - (England) - Free but with 2% fee for incoming transfers! - https://www.fidorbank.uk (England) - Only for UK citizens. - Instant transfer in/out Kraken- https://monzo.com (England) - Only for UK citizens. I guess those services don't work in Europe only as I've seen some people from my country (Algeria) using Paysera and Payoneer before , so It would be nice If you could manage to provide a list for supported countries (probably link users to the FAQ of the service where the countries are mentioned).

I dont think its safe to open bank account online. Hackers could get your account if you're not careful. Its not safe. You should go directly to the bank to open an account. Anyway, its good to see how banks are embracing new technology now. But its sad because i dont live in EU. I live in Asia. Does anyone know if theres a bank like this here on Asia?

N26 reopened the registrations ? Because some months ago they closed any new sign up due to too much people Revolut doesn't let you receive money from a bank account not in your name, it's stopped me to use. Thanks for the list btw, specially for those with a perso. IBAN http://veritascard.com/ Perso. IBAN

Yes, it is now possible to open accounts on N26 and Revolut is going to give a full personal IBAN (not shared as now) in the coming days.

As a user of Paysera I want to add some information. They have list of restricted countries (I think other banks also have) which include Iraq, Cuba, Libya, Liberia, North Korea, Myanmar, Syria, Sudan, Zimbabwe. Other countries marked with * applies with strict identifications and monitoring of business relationships: https://www.paysera.com/v2/en/faq/where-paysera-worksAnd be careful why using it with bitcoin related transactions, especially if your country marked with *. From personal experience, I'm using Paysera for almost year and I'm happy with their service.

Could you possibly add some information on the safety and soundness of these banks? In the US, banks are insured by the FDIC (up to $250,000), which is backed by the US government and depositors rarely lose money due to bank failures, however I understand this not to be the case with some banks in the EU(?).

Do you have any information about any of the banks' capital in relation to their total deposits and total assets? Or do you know if this information is fairly easily obtainable from a reliable source somewhere?

No, the main goal of this list is finding bank services that are monthly/annually free and that can be opened completely online.
Finding more detailed information is something that every user must do on their own.
Anyway, if someone finds something useful and want to share it with the community, I'll probably add it to the list.

Good. Anyway this isn't free, it costs 29.90 eur every year. I'm asking them some other informations ... Yeah but the card is free, unlike others where it has a cost Could you possibly add some information on the safety and soundness of these banks? Some of them, i didn't checked all but Sogexia is an exemple. They are not considered as a bank and don't have any banking licence. They are in partnership with banks (BNP Paribas for exemple about Sogexia). They use escrow services let's say ... So in case the company goes bankrupt the funds are still protected by the banks, and will be released to the customers. And in case the bank fail, you know, the gov cover the lost... By not having a banking licence it is also a good point for us. Less power for the gov on our money. Some of us use those as bank only for this advantage

Added. Do you know if deposit/withdrawal to/form Kraken are instant with these bank accounts? According to this reddit post deposits/withdrawals are instant because the Kraken has a Fidor bank account. https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/4tyr95/instant_depositwithdrawal_on_kraken/For those of you who did not know.. It is possible to deposit and withdraw € instantly and around the clock 7 days a week from/to your debitcard/ EC Card if you have a bank account at Fidor Bank. Fidor Bank is a bank 2.0 from Germany and has partnered with Bitcoin.de and Kraken.
I am Tier 3 customer on Kraken and the first Fiat Deposit took 3 days. Since the bank account was verified my Fiat transfers are realtime. I deposited Fiat at 01:00 in the morning on Sunday and immediately purchased Ether. When i sell Ether i have Fiat on my Mastercard/ EC Card combo immediately.
I did not see this info on Kraken or in reddit so maybe it is helpful to some of you, especially those from Germany who can not use Coinbase
