I am curious as to the questions asked above... What do your neighbors think of the noise? Fans to move that much heat have to be loud. Also, what does your electric company think about pulling that much amperage to a residence?

Those box fans will be a futile attempt.... you need a more powerful strategy to move the hot air out.
I have bought 2 of these to fix my temps and still I am not satisfied with the current temps 36-37c
I have to resort to mining XMR to reduce watts and temps.... but I am longing to go back to ETH and ZEC at full speed!

I have plan for my DC to cool down wind with my water borehole. One 120-240 W  water pump (~2-5C water) to 4 diesel radiators at air intake and water go back to borehole. In 1 mounth i want to run 40 new 6x GTX1070 rigs

I see you got EVGA 1200 G2 PSU. Is it enough for 6 x Sapphire RX480? I'm planning to build a very similar setup using Rosewill RSV-L4500 server case but with 6 x XFX RX480 GTR 8GB and Asrock BTC v2 motherboard. GPU cards will be bios moded (undervolt and overclock memory). I was a bit worried 1200W might be not enough. I was thinking to go with EVGA 1600 P2. Is really worth spending extra money on 1600W Platinium class PSU? I don't think I will ever run more than 6 GPUs.

Running 6xMSI RX480 gaming xs on 1000W EVGA gold. No issues even while dual mining. Yes I am not really being at the sweet spot for efficiency but its a lot cheaper. If you know what you are doing ; just use power limit per card < 115W making it 155W x6 at wall (max approximation) = 930W + mobo processor 70W which should be handled by PSU without issues. If you have 1200W then its even better.

This is why I'm using the box fans, they are also aimed at my house vs the Neighbors.  On top of this I designed my Exhaust muffler pointing down to make the sound travel to the grass and bounce off my wall.  If I want to make it even more quiet, I can add some sound canceling foam but it's not necessary.  I've tested this out already.  It makes very nice white noise , I also have a privacy fence built to keep my grass guys from being curious and looking into what I got.   My Central AC compressor is louder than this.  

@ Greedful -  I upgraded my home power to add a 2nd meter with commercial 500 MCM 400AMP via Dual 200 AMP Copper Bus panels to supplement my house 175Amp panel to give me a total of 575 Amps.  

@ ecohash - I do have Air intake, I will show the design soon.  My shed is very shallow at only 6 ft wide, 8 ft tall and 14 ft long which means any mistakes on the intake windows can cause a disaster! Not only that but if I use Windows for intake, people can look into my Shed and see my gears on top of the unsightly fans that my neighbor will definitely find ugly and report me to HOA.  So my Brother in law's clever designed is to pull cool air from the floor.  It's absolutely Genius as it fix the rain concern, and the flow of air from cool bottom to hot and exhaust on the side is genius.  I also put bug nets and a metal frame to keep insects and rodent out while keeping my clumsy self from falling into the hole.  

This design allows me to only need exhaust fans rather than use both intake and exhaust.  This reduces my fans needed.  You can see that I had to sealed up previous cuts for intake fans.  I'm currently only using 5 fans that are Thermostat controlled purchased very cheap from Walmart.  They do feel about 30% more powerful than normal box fan while also being designed as weather resistant.  The negative pressure is absolutely amazing as it will shut the doors close and if I put a bag on the floor it will fly up.  I also left expansion slots should I need to add more fans higher up.

It really depends on your layout.  For my shed, it's very narrow so I don't think I will have a problem as it will pull hot air out very fast since everything is closer.  I also left expansion spaces just in case.  If I have to guess based on the pulling power I'm feeling, these box fans are probably 1500 CFM or higher so x 5 = 7500 CFM.  They feel very weak when only 1 or two is on but when all 5 is on, the negative pressure is so strong it will slam the shed doors together.  Houston weather is very weird in that it can be very hot during the day but chilling at night so the thermostat control reduce my operating cost as few of the fans are not running right now.

If you can remove the heat faster than it can build up, you can keep unlimited number of rigs.  The issues most of us have is that we let the hot air recirculate back into the intake side as well as the room.  This is why I had to go to the server RACK design on top of using my portable heat wall to contain the hot zone and making the total CFM in that area smaller so I can use cheaper and lower CFM fans ( 2 x 4600 CFM).  They are good looking as they have grills that looks like normal AC vents and are very quiet while consuming very little wattage.  My current setup right now only use these 2 exhaust fans blowing hot air into the attic, I don't even use intake fans, the negative pressure does the work for me.  

Today is 85F, very hot day in TX for Feb!  I'm currently running over 45 rigs in the garage with 15 more rigs to be installed.  No temp issues.  Before this design, I was barely able to run 20 plus rigs and had to use a ton of box fans unnecessarily just recirculating that hot air!  For the new design, I wanted to keep my design minimalist and as cheap to run as possible.  I also try to keep it clutter free and as sexy as possible too.  =)


@kobazik - I use the Platinum 1200 W to power 7 GPUs not 6.  You should have no issues, they are beasts.  Don't bother with EVGA 1600 as they do require 240V, if you have that, then no issues but they're also much larger so it's very tight fit for the Rosewill.  EVGA 1200 / 1300 are better when on sale.  Save the money and buy more GPUs especially if you have no plans for more than 6GPU rigs.  Wait until you see my server PSU review / setup for the Shed, it will make you continue thinking of alternatives.  =)

This is a residence.  I also have a full time job so having a remote location will be challenging especially these days with Claymore killing our GPUs so badly.  I just got a favor where my local power company happened to be upgrading my transformer so they allowed me to run 500 MCM copper cables which are very Thick and usually wouldn't fit into a home transformer.  They normally run dual of the thinner copper cables.  My power cost fluctuates so it depends on when I sign up for the contracts n what is available.  It can range from 5 to 12 cents / kw.  Since I'm such a big user of power, I'm not afraid to break contract at anytime to get lower rates and with the 2nd meter, I can refer my wife for the 2nd meter to reduce the early term charges. 

@Previous user about the question about Power company.  They do get suspicious.  They came and said "we're just doing random checks and seems like your meter may be having issues, so we're going to install a new one."  =)  Not sure how "RANDOM" That was. 

Everyday is Xmas at home.  Packages everywhere.  Just as I finished with my batch, it seems like new batch piles on top.  =)  Happy to get my new 32" Monitor with split screens, so I can check stocks, do my work and also keep track of Awesome miner.  Although I'm not a fan of the ultra widescreen, I may have to change to a Curve monitor with normal dimensions.

I'm not a fan of risers either hence why I like them cute Pandas but their short warranty makes the risers headache more acceptable.  Very cool design you got,  I think my current design will be fine as I always start with an over engineered solution and then work my way down to the most practical, efficienct, cost effectiveness solution when possible.  

I've done a lot of different testing with probably over 50 different fan solutions starting with the 48" 17K CFM x 2 for the shed.  They told me these were quiet fans.  I guess quiet, compared to a lawn mower.  Heck not even that, they were like 2 x 747 planes but they do move some serious air.  Total overkill and it also would eat into some of my shed's width spacing.  The end game is really about the total CFM to remove the heat and to extract that heat as quickly as you can before it recirculate back.  The shallow depth dimension allows me to extract this heat much easier than compare to a wider layout like my garage.  To over engineer is easy, to engineer an effective solution that is also economical and not offensive to the eyes is a bigger challenge.  

I have a bitchy neighbor who would complain at the first notice of something unsightly or unusual.  If I did do intake fans and she can see it from her side, she probably report to the police saying I'm growing weed or something.    So far I'm quite happy with the $150 fan solution vs $600 and also at half the wattage.  I did leave room for further fan addition if necessary.  I think the current setup should allow me to keep 15-20 rigs happy.  More than that would require me to add the fans on the upper sections, which is where I wanted to start but my contractor cut the bottom section first.  =(

I like to follow your build but i calculated a bit.

I think it will never pay out the costs you invested.

If you need new gpus every 3 years (100 gpus but no risers no cpu no psu no mobo) and u pay electricity lets say 15 cent a kWh then its not more then a hobby.

But i like your work
