Yeah, it is bad that they stopped accepting bitcoins. I used to order couple of articles per month for my blog from Fiverr and some SEO services, always used bitcoins on Fiverr, no Paypal or debit or credit card. They did charge around 10% for bitcoin deposits, do not know why they suddenly stopped accepting bitcoins. I do not think it would affect them in any way, but for users like me it is a bit disappointing, still XBT is there Smiley
The lack of users who use this payment method, as you know, the majority of people on the internet are now currently using PayPal as their payment method. Probably in Fiverr, the clients who use bitcoin is just too low, and they probably thinking about its volatility too which may affect their business, and now it's come to their final decision to no longer accepts bitcoin. Sad but true, Though I've made few transactions there with bitcoin and pleased.

This is a huge blow to Bitcoin users to as many of us. Use fiver for services and since they were accepting Bitcoins it was very useful. Though I feel this is a minor setback thanks to link given by op, I had first seen the site here on Bitcointalk.org and have browsed to it, it's looks nice and easy to use.
So people can make contact through Fiverr and make a separate transaction escrow for our needs as Fiverr has revealed the statement that they no more accept bitcoin.

Did they give a reason why they are not accepting btc anymore?

Yes.  They said it was because Bitcoin is now dead.
It would be good measure to at least post some sources when making statements like that.
You could be right, but as long as you don't post an email or other kind of statement that shows them saying this, you're just spreading FUD.

I need to write a plug-in for SMF that provides users with an "I'm only writing this fluff to get my signature displayed" ignore option. Sometimes, I get halfway through the post, then realize it's just a bunch of random thoughts strung together.

I would sell if on Fiverr, but they don't accept bitcoin anymore. Cry
You can just use the ignore function for that, it's pretty easy to filter out the users who only respond to display their signature.
And report the post if it's really obvious that they're spamming nonsense, they will get banned eventually!

Guys, if you post your answers only to gain some coins via signature campaigns, try to be a bit constructive at least and please (!) DO NOT copy your generic answers. Undecided
It's really annoying and it also completely destroys a value of discussion of some threads, which could be otherwise interesting.
Thank you...

Did they give a reason why they are not accepting btc anymore? I really want to know. With services like bitpay I don't really see a reason why they would not unless fees are too high.  Huh Huh Huh

I haven't see any official company statement about explaining this change suddently. But from what i know it is not the first time Fiverr removes Bitcoin from their site. It has always been conflictual between Fiverr and Bitcoin. Before too when the volatility started kicking in, Fiverr removed the payment option. Then some days later they reinstalled the Bitcoin option back on once it was more calm.

Be able to pay using bitcoin was the only reason i was using them, oh well i will go in another place. On top of that, this site may be popular but there are lot of  garbages regarding the services offered. I found it is better to hire a VA monthly, even if he needs to be trainned a little for your job

Fiverr is not the first one, and definitely it won't be the last one. Actually, I can't hide my disappointment after hearing about this news. 2016 was a bad year for Bitcoin, with the exception of the exchange rate spike towards the end. I had high hopes for 2017. But now, after hearing about the decission from Fiverr, I am feeling less confident about this year as well.

They sure make mistake.
Bitcoin is growing, so not letting pay with bitcoin is not good for all sides.

On the other hand, lets not forget that the value of the bitcoin is ALWAYS changing.

They sent me the same thing. Their explanation was that they don't accept any Chinese currencies as payment.

Yes.  They said it was because Bitcoin is now dead.

then fiver was wrong about bitcoin. bitcoin is still alive. so I think they have the other reason.

well, that is nice information. at least we have the other website that offers freelnace that accept bitcoins. so thank you for the link too.

At first, the PayPal guys were really concerned about Bitcoin. But after 2014, they have realized that their main competitors are Skrill and Qiwipay, and not Bitcoin. They are not spending much on negative propaganda against Bitcoin now.

i would've been far more interested had they paid out in bitcoin. we're probably gonna see plenty more of this. not many are willing to spend.
Is this the reason for stop using bitcoin payments? People not spending or using it enough? I'd really doubt so. There must be something else, the price up and down too much, in too little time, maybe this could be the reason?
I don't see any other reason for opting out.

admin? some guy has to watch over it occasionally. maybe it didnt even pay that wage.

I don't think it was because of the wage or covering the money that are spent to maintain/process the bitcoin payments.

It's surprising why companies like this do not like bitcoin, maybe it is for legal reason, maybe they can't make finance reports because of blockchain or so.

If they don't accept Chinese currencies then bitcoin is not Chinese currency but is worldwide, Chinese can affect the price but not shut down it.

Fiverr is such a small market for Bitcoin that we should not worry about it. It is not a major blow. You want a major blow? The dark markets stopping the acceptance of Bitcoin and them having another cryptocurrency in its place. Now that is a big blow.

No wonder people weren't using the bitcoin payment system!

Why do merchants add these charges when the whole point of BTC is to reduce costs?

I remember buying bitcoin and litecoin directly from fiverr gigs a few years ago.

It was basically the only way to buy btc in an automated fashion using paypal.

I hate when business is suddenly discontinuing bitcoin support, I won't be using Fivver again. I remember the same happened before with Humble Bundle.
They cancelled bitcoin support - and I since that time I never purchased a single Humble Bundle again. They didn't even stated the reason why they stopped accepting BTC, so lame.
