What is Ubiq? For non-techy Crypto Enthusiasts

 Ubiq is the stable, enterprise-ready build of the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum is a cutting edge technology that is continuously evolving and leading in development but, as a result, is consistently in an alpha stage.

There is nothing wrong with an alpha stage, as it is where the majority of advancement occurs. However, for enterprise-wide solutions, an alpha technology is far too risky to release.

It contains bugs and vulnerabilities that cost large sums of money to fix and update at later stages. Take windows for example with the recent ransom-ware attack on over 200,000 pc’s in over 150 countries; this is the reason the massive companies worldwide are still using Windows 7 and not the unstable, untested and most of all vulnerable windows 10 build. As such, for large scale enterprise applications, a stable build with all working features are preferred. This is Ubiq’s value proposition, the reason it’s on the map, and the reason the community behind it consists of some of the brightest and most experienced individuals in cryptocurrency.

Ubiq will only take tried and tested features from Ethereum to implement on to the Ubiq blockchain.

The team is led by Julian Yap, a cryptocurrency code auditor for the Bittrex exchange; i.e. the one person that reviews the code for any cryptocurrency that requests listing on Bittrex.

Gubiq v1.5.12 - Backport security fix from Geth v1.6.5

This is a security release to address an attack vector seen on the Ethereum network. It contains the fix released in Geth v1.6.5.

Change:

• Use a bitmap instead of a hashmap to store the results of jumpdest analysis, and optimise analysis process.

This release is highly recommended as it is a security fix that could potentially take nodes offline if the network is attacked.

This release is already running fine on a number of our nodes so don't feel a sudden urgency to upgrade. The likelihood of being attacked is relatively low.

Hello! i did mining on ubiqpool.io i got my first payout yesterday normally but i hit again 0.5 and now im more than 2+ UBQ and withdrawal did not come through... can someone assist me how to get out my UBQs ??

Pool operator is working on it. The coins are safe, it's just that the payment script is slow to process all the payments. This combined with the recent up-tick in hashrate and users has slowed it down substantially. Like I said though, he's working to correct the issue and your funds will be sent ASAP

I m preparing 6 rigs to mine ubiq, hoping to hit 1 GH. I remember reading somewhere that mining in pool with less miners is good for network .. is there something like this or am i dreaming?

Yes, it's good to split the hash rate up among pools. So using a smaller pool is much better than throwing that much hash at the pool with the highest hash rate.

Yes, it's good to split the hash rate up among pools. So using a smaller pool is much better than throwing that much hash at the pool with the highest hash rate.

What makes UBIQ different to Ethereum, honestly asking here I am interesting in buying some but need a good reason.

I have read some of this thread but still can't pick out the big differentiators.

Also waiting for an answer to this question.

So his answer is "UBIQ is awesome because they are going to do exactly what ETH is doing..but not the new stuff..thus making them the STABLE version of ETH"

Then he used Windows 7 and Windows 10 as a comparison saying "UBIQ is the Windows 7 of Windows, while ETH is Windows 10"

I'm not convinced by this. Does anything stop ETH having a stable release of their chain out as well?

did you already forget the DAO hack? Beeing more stable can be better in the long run. its also more interesting for enterprises
