I am not a native English speaker.

I have managed to improve my English by watching TV shows in English with English subtitles.
Also I learnt a lot of things by playing World of Warcraft in English.

But the best way to improve language skills is to visit a country and talk to native speakers.

I'm too lazy to learn languages, because there is Google translator) Maybe in the future I'll get patience and when I'm traveling, I'll learn at least one foreign language.

People dont realize, but movies and games can really help you master english, as its most common language online. I mastered my grammar on online game, talking and writing to people from all around the world. But when I speak it, I sound like a russian villain from some low budget action movie Cheesy

Hello,
How to we learn a new language?
What is the most practical method of learning a new language?
What are the methods of learning that you apply and benefit you?

I have been watching Anime for some time now. And funny to be, today i was thinking how i have started to learn a bit of Japanes. Its only natural when you watch or listen or both to start learning it, in this case language. And that is just one way for people to learning foreign language. Of course there is faster way, but this one is free Cheesy .

Same with me  Wink
I started to watch anime and grew up to learn few words. I ended up taking Japanese as my 3rd language and since I already interested with their anime, movies and dramas, it was easier for me to learn. Plus - it was for free  Cheesy Cheesy

Agreed, games can really help you learn other language since in order to play and master the game, you need to know everything inside out. So you have no choice but to force yourself to study and learn the language in order to play.

I used to play YuGiOh card with kids from my village and I saw them trying hard to learn English in order to know the ability of their cards. They ended up having high grade in English because of this  Grin

If we also talk about the method of studying, then I choose audio lessons, thanks to which it is very good to learn the spoken language of a language that is being studied. Basically this is a good way for heavy languages such as Japanese.

I ended up learning Spanish in a class. It is a great way to learn consistently instead of learning by yourself. Also there are other people you can learn with if you are taking a non-online class. Watching Spanish video tutorials helped me to increase my vocabulary and grammar skills.

Yes you are right. Now it is not necessary to go to special education to learn a new language. It's enough to watch online tutorials
I really want to learn Japanese

Yes that is one of best ways to learn some new language. Necessary thing in learning new language is, you need to use it as much as you can, and if you want to perfect it you need to speak it and be around people who speak that language too. If you learn new language and don't use it for sometime you will start to forget. What i mean is, when you start using it again you will have hard time saying some words or finding right words. Practice makes perfect.  Grin

As far as the best way, I can only speak for myself. I taught myself French using the Pimsleur method where you listen to lessons on cd and repeat what you hear. The great thing about Pimsleur is that you can listen to it at home, while driving your car, or while out and about doing errands. In addition there are other resources, such as Duolingo. com and learnalanguag. com. These are free internet sites where you can take short lessons to build your vocabulary.

Google transalate is not a good way to learn speaking other language. It's crappy. If you want to learn you can find interesting lessons in youtube. Joining a language exchange community is also good so you can practice what you are learning.
