I think the best way is to live in that country so that you can hear everyone talking that language. Also I think movies could prove useful in this matter. At least for me this two helped a lot.

Hello,
How to we learn a new language?
What is the most practical method of learning a new language?
What are the methods of learning that you apply and benefit you?

I learned English from a teacher I was in school.
because I feel my teacher is most appropriate to teach me

since there is google translate I do not intend to learn a new language, it seems that it is not necessary, google translate makes us understand the new language more easily, although it is not perfect but quite understandable

I believe one way to learn a new language is to get another version of the story you already knew.

Try to watch movies/TV shows in the foreign language with subtitles on it. Another tip would be do exercise with the self-study books.

While learning the language I suggest go to youtube on look for videos on that language. I will do that myself once I started learning my 3rd language.

I love to learn other languages too so that ill not use subtitles when i watch a foreign movie.Only i can suggest is you will slowly learn other languages through watching their movies or maybe try to read books of foreign languages but  the best thing to know foreign languages is to enroll yourself in school were they teach different languages or maybe try to stay to foreign place were you will not only learn the language but also their culture and history itself.

English is my 3rd language and this is the result. I'm 48 now and had to make living in different countries, so I had to learn how to communicate effectively with others. What helped me (and I can see others that were in my situation but didn't go through these steps, lagging behind) is that I have pushed myself (I'm very shy person) to listen and speak.
I've tried recordings and different types of 'lectures' but with very limited success. One really needs to be put in front of somebody who speaks that language and participate actively, without the option of being quiet or withdrawing completely.
I'd write down (the way I thought it should be written) anything I didn't understand and look it up in dictionary. Sometimes even using explanation for that particular translation.
Somebody here mentioned Austria - German language officially but different parts of the country have vastly different pronunciations, even to the extent of not making sense at all. In that case, ask for explanation on the spot. People are in general happy and proud that a foreigner is willing to learn their language.
Conclusion: practise in person as much as possible - speak, listen and read.

Well you need a lot of dedication and the best way to learn a foreign language is to find the bearer of that language and have conversation with them

repetition is very important in learning a new language. listen to a short story in the language you want to learn for at least 30 times. after  that listen to another story. this will be a good start.
