I just got a couple of MSI Armor rx480 4GB cards ( https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/Radeon-RX-480-ARMOR-4G-OC.html) I need help in reaching the best speed on both ETH/zCash with these GPUs at the lowest possible power. The memory type is Hynix I have searched the forum here for help and even Google but it seems that there is no reliable/helpful advice with this card in particular. 0.5 reward to the person that helps the most

The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

You need to flash them with a compatible BIOS using ATIFlash. pretty simple to do but make sure to follow all the steps in flashing guides.
I was actually unable to find a BIOS for this particular card. I don't think other RX 480 BIOSes would work, but they might but you'll probably have some issues with monitoring the fans and temps.
What hashrate are you getting with ETH?

I was hoping that someone can provide me with a compatible BIOS for this card! I got these cards at an awesome deal ($150) and I need to use them at their full potential. Mining ETH at 22.5mh/s with stock bios/settings.

I have a bunch of MSI Gaming RX470 4gb's that I'm going to be modding this week, dunno what memory type they have yet but I just did my 480 8gb's over the weekend for a few of my rigs. You need to download the stock bios and upload it somewhere for someone to be able to take a look at it.

I wouldn't go ahead and try a random BIOS, probably won't work with your cards. start mining ZEC in the meanwhile until you can find a BIOS or find someone to mod one for you.

This is for a MSI RX 480 Armor 4G OC #912-V341-028 with Hynix memory https://mega.nz/#!vAs3TDQJ!W2HPI70RY1TO5J65_VRj7iKTIElDv6nIzQb6AeUii3w Currently getting ~27.9mh running at 1125mhz core 1940mhz memory, undervolted to 950mV Some will not clock quite that high without memory errors, I would start at 1850mhz and check using hwinfo64 sensors mode to find a sweet spot. I have this card too and am interested in modding mine Yes, this is a working BIOS for MSI RX 480 4GB with Hynix, box code #912-V341-028 It's not the most "modern" timing mod (it's not taking advantage of the latest understanding/decoding of timing straps) but it does give ~28mh The link is functional, but it has to be copied & pasted.

That's why I included every possible shred of info about where the BIOS came from If someone's flashing this onto anything other than a MSI RX 480 Armor 4G OC model #912-V341-028 with Hynix memory they are gonna have a bad time. MSI has a habit of producing multiple hardware revisions within a single Model/SKU, hence the box code # which identifies the specific variant. Nice guide, very straightforward.

I've been staring at the exact same card for the past week not knowing whether i should go for it or get a slightly more expensive Sapphire Pulse Rx 580 4gb.. Do you guys think a 580 Pulse is worth some extra 20 bucks?

I want to share my MODS for RX 480 Armor OC 4G (4GB). 22MH/S Stock 27MH/S Modded 29.3MH/S Tuned with afterburner (-50mv, core 1140Mhz, mem 2130Mhz) There are Mods and Stocks for Samsung and for Hynix memory types. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B2ieRGP3Yw47THROekRBRkpZdUE?usp=sharingP.D: Dont forget to monit your GPUs temps, dont be higher than 75°, i recommend to use a manual fan speed from afterburner (start afterburner with the system and keep it open).
