The ones gambling for fun don't care to lose, and the ones trying to get profit or chasing to get their money back mostly try to be careful not to lose, and what the funny thing is, the ones gambling for fun mostly come up with small amount of profits, while the ones trying to earn profits out of it or to get what they lost back lose whatever is remaining for them.

Because you are hoping that the next time you bet, you would win and get back what you lose. There are times when you can't control your emotion because you lose and to get back, you will bet a higher amount resulting more often to a lose which just make your situation worse. There are days when you get lucky because you are able to get back your losses the previous days and the time you lose again, you will just say I can get it back because it happened before so you will bet again and again not realizing that your losses has accumulated that much.
