Bitcoin is not even at the eary adopter phase, we are in the one before that, I forget what it is called...  let us say we are at the mosaic stage, pre netscape... we have not even realized 98% of what this tech can and will be used for.

Erm, at the very earliest, its in the early adopter phase for sure.

gox leading

Each exchange has its own rally points and all follow the rest to a degree. I mean, its like bitstamp and $170.. big wall being approached -> rally. So, this is like the last of the coins on gox.. [again...] - the rest following is not a necessity.

BTC as safe.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha wait wait he said safe and bitcoin hahahahahahahahahaha. Did he miss it when we went to $75 last week? This market is so young and volatile there is nothing safe about it. With that said we may get there, I hope we get there, but right now it is NOT safe.

In the context of fiat as it can't be printed.

Also welcome to my ignore list.

Indeed. I own more Bitcoin than I do fiat. I also own more other things than fiat though. In general I try to keep my fiat reasonably low while also keeping the chance for short term cashflow problems very low.

An observation:

Last March/April, during the media coverage, my friends and family were interested in hearing about bitcoin, but not a single one took the next step and purchased any.

But now, upon hearing about the recent run-up, three people in my network are making small purchases.  They are starting to believe there's really something to it.
I was telling someone to buy btc just a few days ago when it was 150. She was interested and asked me to talk to her about it again later. Now suddenly btc is 210. I don't know what to tell her next I see her now  Huh. "It's gone up 50% in 2 weeks but you should still buy"? I don't know if this is a safe entry point anymore and I don't want her hating me if we dip to 160-.

So, its a bubble?

What would make you think that?

When people start buying in to something because the price is going up, to me.. that sounds like a bubble scenario.

I think people are seeing the value of their fiat going down. I think they are just trying to get rid of that soon to worthless fiat and see BTC as safe.

That seems pretty crazy and unlikely to me, considering BTC's volatility and specifically, the bubble and subsequent pop 6 months ago. I also don't think the average person views their fiat as "soon to be worthless". That's a bit extreme.
The average person loves their fiat, has a high degree of confidence in 'cold hard cash' as a safe haven, and thinks that anything else is probably a scam.

When you tell someone about btc it's like initiating them out of the matrix.

FTFU

Tell it just like you told us word for word, I like the matrix red blue pill analogy!  You cas start with when we last spoke it was 150.

Funny I offered a paper wallet at a poker game when we were at $100 the winner preferred fiat anyway another friend bought it off me. Our next game I'll offer to buy it back @ $200 per coin

I suspect the potential rise in value of Bitcoin is a primary if not the only reason for many jumping on board in the first place but jumping on board requires learning something and that something that is learned in my experience and in that of many I've spoken to, tends to increase confidence that this thing has a future.

I also suspect the mentality of those who were interested last time round but did not participate are not the light/wishful-thinking/ignorant hands that bought with expectation of an easy return then panicked and sold.  Even from the little information we have here to make an assessment of the potential impact of these people I'd guess they're more impressed, not by the fact it went up so far last time but that it didn't crash and burn afterwards and that after a few months of relatively stable recovery, looks like it is going up again.

Personally, I am a lot more confident now than at the April rally that the serious downside risk i.e. price close to zero is dissipating by the day.  Where it goes in the meantime is anyone's guess - my guess for the time being being up!

You must have a KNC miner.
However; it's not only about mining!

Almost bough one last week, but calculated it would be too risky, so I didn't.

Why is this about mining at all? Please clear me up.
