rumors that big banks may soon be able to custody your crypto [...]
making mortgages backed by Bitcoin a reality for the masses

If BOA or Wells Fargo would custody BTC and it was FDIC insured up to 250k  Btc would whale bigly.

Only downside
they’ll operate based on a fractional reserve
likely paying a tiny bit of interest [...]
double edged sword

This makes FDIC insurance less likely, or maybe possible only up to a lower notional.

Sounds like they are planning on Rehypothecation.

Let'em try. A slight misstep? A deeper slip? A large client claiming their corn back, or many small ones? Small bank? Too big to fail behemoth? Some combinations of ingredients may turn btc denominated bank runs into virtual short squeeze events - where it isn't necessarily the order book that matters, but likely the size of the OTC desk. Interesting times indeed.

I see rumors circulating online about rumors that big banks may soon be able to custody your crypto. Meaning that you’ll be able to have (for example) Bank of America hold onto your Bitcoin for you instead of an exchange or self custody. I think this will go a long way towards making mortgages backed by Bitcoin a reality for the masses. It could also spur more adoption from people who avoid crypto exchanges and don’t want to self custody, which I imagine is a lot.

Funny to see BTC doing so well yet the Fear/Greed index is right in the middle, at 50%.

Crypto, crypto.  Roll Eyes

There are some coins (4 years old or older) that have outpaced Bitcoin in terms of performance since their inception (of course this means you needed to get in at Day 1 of trading):

BNB - by 21,000%
Solana - by 1,500%
Polygon - by 600%
Dogecoin - by 400%
TRON - by 350%
Ethereum - by 300%

Keeping at Bitcoin's pace:

Cardano (+3%)
Monero (-3%)

Left in the dust:

Stellar (-82%)
XRP (-85%)
Bitcoin Cash (-97%)
Tezos (-97%)
Litecoin (-98%)

Just for fun:

Tether (-99.69%)

Crypto or not, the one coin, other than Bitcoin, that I find very useful is Monero. Not for investment, not for HoDLing it, not for making you rich, but for actually using it for private transactions. It's a great way to protect your anonymity, and that's why it is the primary coin of choice in cases where privacy is important.

I find Monero to be a little diamond in a huge heap of shitcoin garbage. I don't hold many. I just buy and use, as needed.

As for other coins outperforming Bitcoin, I see this as a "division by zero" case. I.e., any coin starting at near-zero value could easily outperform Bitcoin (or any other coin) when it reaches a non-zero price (x/0 = ∞). I think, perhaps, a better way to assess performance would be to let the coin run for some time (a year?) and start from there (x_now/x_1yr). It would be interesting to assess and compare coin performance in this way. Which coin would win?

Agreed. Kinda disappointed to see LTC still languishing even after the addition of MWeb.

I see what you're saying but a price is never actually zero. Even if you take yearly performances and average them out (starting after 1 year), the huge price explosions exhibited by the "outpacing" coins will skew the average in their favor over BTC. If you did it this way, DOGE and some others would be even higher.

I remember having powerful dreams when I began taking magnesium + zinc supplements (a doctor recommended them). The dreams were almost like feature-length movies, complete with plot, twists & turns and everything. I was looking forward to going to sleep, wondering what dream I would have.

I have now stopped taking supplements (trying to take my nutrients from natural sources), and the dreams have subsided. I still have them, but not as intense and complex as when I was taking the supplements. Or maybe I do have them, but can't remember them? It's interesting how a chemical change can affect you in different ways...

Interesting. Which type/form of zinc and magnesium and what was the dosage?

[...]

I used Solgar's products. Specifically these:

Solgar Magnesium Citrate (200 mg) Tablets -- 2/day = 400 mg
Solgar Zinc Picolinate (22 mg) Tablets -- 1/day = 22 mg

I felt quite good while taking them. Not sure if it was a placebo effect, but I did experience the lucid dreams very intensely. I stopped taking them, due to some of my blood test results being a little on the high side, like SGOT/SGPT (liver enzymes). This could actually be related to some intense physical training exercises I was doing at the time, so maybe the supplements were not to blame. I may start them again and repeat the blood test to see.

Supplements are easy to take, but can't really substitute natural nutrient sources. But, oftentimes, lifestyle choices/constraints make it difficult to eat healthily, so in many cases supplements are the only option. One vitamin I can think of that falls in this category is vitamin D3. Next time you do a blood test, ask for a vitamin D3 test. You may be surprised at the results!

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

That sounds like a very sustainable withdrawal system if you are selling 2% every couple of years, yet I think that many of us might recommend spreading out your sells to be several times every couple of years rather than 2% to cover a whole 2 years, especially since this seems more like a consolidation area (and close to the bottom) rather than anything close to toppy.
I usually just sell once every month, just enough to cover my expenses. Keeping (near) all of net-worth in btc at all times has served me well so far.

I don't know why I sold so much this time. I had more coins than usual on CEX (due to the Mt.Gox payout), maybe that's why. It was a moment of weakness, I'm not proud of it...

It sounded a bit strange to me to sell 2 years worth, and that was part of the reason that I was motivated to make a kind of hypothetical to try to make it seem like it makes sense, yet now you have disclosed some additional facts that make it even more complicated.. so I am thinking that I am just going to leave it.  Sometimes we make overadjustments in one direction or another, and if we consider that we made a mistake, we likely can tweak our situation in order to take advantage of our mistake.. that's what I usually do.  If I make a mistake, then I will make some kind of an adjustment to my plans to account for the mistake, and then after a bit of a passage of time, it is no longer feeling like any kind of major mistake, since whatever tweaks and adjustments that I make will tend to bring my finances and/or psychology back into balance.

I keep trying to ask Gox creditors what they got.. and I keep thinking that the amount received by Gox creditors was around 15%-ish of the size of what they had on the exchange (GOX).. .. but I am not really sure why I keep gravitating towards that 15% speculation number.
15% is pretty spot on. I chose ELSP (Early Lump Sum Payment). Those who chose Final Payment would get around ~20% I believe, but they haven't been credited in full yet as far as I know. I just wanted it to get over with.

Now that you mentioned that, I recall hearing that there were different numbers for those who wanted to receive the payment right away as compared with those who would be willing to wait for a more delayed payout.  It is amazing that it took  right around 10.5 years to get any of the payouts (if we are considering February 2014 as the month that GOX shut down?), and so yeah it seems that payouts are still going to be coming for a while..even though I had read that an overwhelming majority had already been paid out in the past couple of months.

I had noticed that kind of arbitrariness too.. .. yet I surely would hate to invite shitcoin talk, since those kinds of comparisons likely deserve to go somewhere else, to the extent they matter anyhow... . which shitcoin is less shitty..? blah blah blah... a slippery slope likely not to be too pleasing to very many of the regular WO participants... we frequently have consensus in this thread is acceptable except the pumping of shitcoins.. so why start now, instead of taking such discussion to some other thread.. and if any of us might potentially be interested, then a link to such other thread could be left here..  .. kind of a courtesy.. not to get too distracted into shitcoin talk, no?

I may have to give these or some variation of these a shot.

Yes please, just leave it. We're all gentlemen here, we don't speak the size of other WO-members' stash.

My previous post about me selling came off a bit douchery, I apologize for that.

With that said, my yearly expenses are probably less than most people here. I don't have any loans (including mortgage) or expensive hobbies.

Enough about me, I'm signing off. See you all when we reach ATH.

IMO you shared a HODLER story which are very cool and motivating for other people…. These kind of stories are a booster to many who are in the same space…

Also when someone trying to get in more detail etc never feel obligated to answer or respond sir

I like reading stuff as what you posted

Bitcoin ETF Options to 'Accelerate Institutional Adoption,' Says Saylor

If the "iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT)" starts trading on NASDAQ soon, we’ll definitely see how the market reacts. Personally, I think we need institutional investors to gradually reduce the manipulation in the market. As they say, it could drive more liquidity and possibly bring price stability. With that happening, massive adoption would come easier. There's still plenty of room for the market to grow or for Bitcoin to pump before it's listed, but I’m holding on for now....maybe for another 5 years.
