The UK guy whose gf dropped the hd with 8000 btc (or something like this) to the dump and whose claim on excavation was recently declined should assign 50% of rights to it to US BSR. This is his last chance as the judge in UK already declined it summarily.
This way, Starmer and Trump would negotiate the excavation with the judiciary. A similar deal to TikTok, lol. You can get nothing (current situation) or 50% of something BIG. They should do it privately, and if they find it-release all the publicity.
I believe that this story would captivate millions if not tens/hundreds of millions if concluded positively. Netflix series are guaranteed.
[arstechnica.com] Judge ends man’s 11-year quest to dig up landfill and recover A British judge ruled against a man who wants to excavate a landfill where he says a hard drive with access to thousands of bitcoins was mistakenly dumped over 11 years ago. "It would be a criminal offence for the claimant or anyone acting for him to sort over or disturb any refuse deposited at the Site, unless he were authorised to do so by the defendant: see section 27 of CPA 1974 and section 60 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990," the ruling said. "The defendant could only give such authorisation, or excavate the Site itself, if it were first to apply for and obtain a new environmental permit from NRW, as the Schedule of permitted activities in its existing permit does not allow excavation of the Site." https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/01/judge-ends-mans-11-year-quest-to-dig-up-landfill-and-recover-765m-in-bitcoin/^^^-- if anyone missed the news

I hope my cynicism is that and only that, i.e. funny.

It's bigger than the Bitcoin reserve. Indeed. But I would say that everything this evening was bigger than the BSR. Don't forget that this evening, Trump has killed CBDC not only in the US but globally.

On an issue like this, which doesn't involve the USA directly, I think even the allies could go their own way.

It's bigger than the Bitcoin reserve. Bullish The rescission of SAB 121 marks a significant turning point for Bitcoin and the broader financial industry. By allowing banks to custody Bitcoin, the lines between traditional finance and decentralized systems are no longer barriers—they’re bridges. This change doesn’t just validate Bitcoin’s role in the global financial system; it also signals that institutions can no longer afford to ignore its transformative potential. For years, Bitcoin was treated as a fringe asset, misunderstood and often dismissed by legacy institutions. Now, with banks entering the space, it’s clear that Bitcoin is no longer an alternative but an essential asset for long-term wealth preservation and growth. This change will unlock new opportunities for millions of people who can now interact with Bitcoin through familiar financial institutions, bringing an entirely new demographic into the ecosystem. At Crypto Dispensers, we’ve been building infrastructure to support this transition. Our nationwide network of over 16,000 retail locations has been designed to give everyday Americans the same access to Bitcoin that large institutions and now banks are embracing. We’re providing the tools for people to take control of their financial futures and participate in the financial revolution on their own terms. This development is about creating a more accessible and resilient financial system. With banks stepping into Bitcoin custody, adoption will accelerate, and the tools for financial empowerment will reach a wider audience. At Crypto Dispensers, we remain committed to ensuring that individuals across the country can benefit from this historic shift by continuing to make Bitcoin available and accessible to all. As institutions join the movement, we’ll continue building for the people who will lead the future of this decentralized economy.

No they will follow the USA on it but if and when a crypto winter comes they will switch to cbdc. To me we get 3-5 years here and it may turn really bad after that. but I am fairly sure about the next 3-5 years. which of course is a first for me. I do not write about 3-5 years of goodness for crypto (crypto is the trumpeter's word not mine) Ever so take it with a grain of salt or maybe a whole salt shaker.

It is safer to follow the trail of a Relatively successful forerunner than Blindly head towards an unknown venture 'alone'. Not to mention, CBDC can be considered a 'failure' since none meant expected adoption and they offer nothing unique from normal payment media.
