it really is an interesting approach. It shifts the curve by pi/2, and normalises (by A) creating a normalised even function.
Sorry, I could not get beyond that. However, I found a formula (attributed to Euler) for sin(x) as an infinite product sin(\pi z) = \pi z \prod_{n=1}^\oo (1 - \frac{z^2}{n^2}) It looks similar enough to your function shifted and scaled as before f(\pi (z + 1/2)) = A g(z) where z = x/\pi - 1/2, A = \prod_{m=1}^\oo \frac{(4m-1)^2}{4m(4m-2)} and g(z) = \prod_{m=1}^\oo (1 - \frac{4z^2}{(4m-1)^2}) Maybe you can get some inspiration out of it...

Don't know if this is a repost: Coinbase’s founders say they have been working for five months to win licenses from state financial regulators. They have regulatory approval in half of U.S. states, including large population centers such as New York and California. For now, Coinbase can do business only with account holders in states where it has approval.
Coinbase will take a small percentage, 0.25%, of most transactions and will take no fees for the first two months, said Fred Ehrsam, 26 years old, a co-founder. The exchange will initially be limited to users in the U.S., but Chief Executive Brian Armstrong, 32, said he plans to expand overseas.
Mr. Armstrong said he expected to attract both individuals and businesses looking to trade bitcoin. “Our goal is to become the world’s largest exchange,” he said. 0.25% transaction fees, no fees for first 2 months. Oh you lucky Americans.

Yup looks like others are doing the same. Price is stagnating while longs take their profit. All we've been seeing is current traders trading and taking leverage, the real pump will be when the new money starts coming in which should happen after this coinbase announcement goes mainstream. This week should be very interesting I saw the stagnation as well and I figured there would of been a dump sooner than later so I exited. I jumped back in at 281 which I feel is ok.
