I guess what they don't like is that they would have wanted it to be part of BTC instead of having to go to an altcoin exchange to swap over to a different coin just to spend it.
All big blockers wanted was for low-friction transactions to continue to be part of Bitcoin as they already had for the previous six years. They are original Bitcoiners as much as any small-blockers. I'm sure, eventually, we'll get there. I just never "switched" from BTC to any of the newer ones, I continued to use the software as it evolved, that's all. I mean, fees used to be 0.01 BTC, then it got lowered to 0.001 BTC, then it got lowered to 0.0001 and I think it just simply stayed there while the price kept going up. Nothing has changed since then, well, maybe a dozen version numbers and segwit notably; but I believe these are good changes. And I'll just simple go where the majority goes. And like plenty of OG bitcoiners, I spent all my corns... which was probably not a good idea, but maybe I had to take one for the team. Think of the pizza guy. He just bought two more pizzas with bitcoins, but a lot less than 10k BTC recently. We'll get there, just not now. I see the new developments and second layers and other things, we'll get there. Or we might not, not much we can really do about it. If you're a dev, put in a pull request or something and hope it gets merged. Otherwise we have what we have, and if someone wants big blocks, they can have that too in the form of altcoins. People keep saying Litecoin is a form of live production testnet for Bitcoin using "real" value instead of worthless testnet coins ... maybe perhaps? BCH and BSV could have been doing the same thing, but I think the politics and fighting and "violence" is not making the situation any better. Plus that crazy guy who can't do a simple proof, not because he does not want to, but most probably because he really can not. Beyond Burger and friends are not synthetic meat as far as I'm aware, mostly next-generation attempts to simulate meat with vegetable and chemical products. They are considerably more expensive to buy in grocery stores (most of the price in fast food joints goes to overhead and staff so the gap closes) which indicates that the degree of processing probably makes them financially and ecologically worse than cow meat. So again, if it's about killing animals, fine but if not, probably no good reason to get it. Simulated meat likely has better prospects than synthetic meat in the mid-future though.
The only reason I'm not eating fake meats is, the real meat is already expensive, why would I pay more for fake ones. They've got to lower the price. Plus the real thing is always a good idea. Like you said, nature and animals are efficient at turning grass into burgers. That's their purpose, that's always been their purpose. And if a vegan at party I'm in (pre covid, or post covid) wants to skip the beef, I'll offer to take it from them; "here, let's swap, you can have my broccoli and I'll take your steak, thanks." I'm not full carnivore yet, but maybe we'll get there too.

If I accidentally deposit $1000 to your account, I cannot just say to the bank "I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I want my $1000 back". I have to contact you and kindly ask you to send the money back to me, and you can refuse to do so for whatever reason. Depending on who you are, you certainly can. Hence Bitcoin. Correct. If you have an unexpected windfall at a bank (error transfer) that is classified as "not reasonable" then yes you have to give it back. Sucks, but that's life. Now if you deposit extra money to pay a debt in error then the holder of the debt does NOT have to give it back as it is a payment against the debt. Bitcoin fixes the above issue. That said, if someone dropped 100btc into my account by mistake I would refund it. Because it's the right thing to do and laying claim to something that isn't mine would corrupt my soul. That's worth way more than 100btc to me. I tend to agree with you - in principle, but 100 BTC? I am pretty confident the decision to return that amount would have to age for quite some time with me. But yeah, rather sleep well than keeping something that is not yours. But how would you know perhaps that's a gift to you from some wealthy philanthropist? Or that's dirty mafia drug money? And giving it back would kill lots of peeps? I guess that would be a bit complicated for the owner of the funds to locate you? So not many chances you'd get contacted by the fatfinger? Sure, a wealthy philantropist sends 100 BTC my way, of course this is a completely different discussion. I somehow get the feeling you also click all the "You have received a donation via google lottery" links in the emails you get, right? Are you saying these "Send 1 BTC to Musk and get 2 BTC back" Twitter campaigns are legit? Because you actually never know if some philantropist... j/k Seriously though, I think we can safely assume that this is not going to happen that somebody intentionally sends you 5m USD without you knowing why or having no idea about the reason for the transfer. If that ever happened (assuming a very bad error on the senders side), after digging a bit through BEs (as dabs proposed) and listening around here and on twitter, I would probably come to bct and post it here, trusting the guy having fat-fingered 100 BTC to me would get to know somehow. If he can sign from the sending address I'd ask an appropriate finder reward (which I'd see at 5-10% according to local law and use here). Given that finder reward, I'd naturally cover all the fees for an express tx @dear-random-philantropist: If you read this, the address on my profile is valid and under my control. If you send me 100 BTC I'll send you back 90 BTC, promise!

You could always just send it back to the sending address. No proofs needed. Such things, if they happen are most likely to be computer errors. Notably some people have run untested software on wallets that contain most of their stash and have come to regret it. Human error is definitely not out of the question but far less likely in my estimation.

Today is a big day for me. Thanks to BTC, and partially to you all here, I am debt-free today. I quit my job, and I paid off ten years of debt, now I own my house and a few acres in the clear. My wife and I live fairly simply. Old paid-for cars (that I can fix), no cable TeeVee. A large garden and a small shooting range in the back yard. I quit smoking cigarettes, and DCA that amount into BTC. Doing this payoff burned a big chunk of the corn, but it is a better thing to do for myself, now. We won't be wealthy, but this is the American dream for me. YMMV.
This is a very touching post and a great example of what a significant role Bitcoin can play in our life ... For a second I imagined myself in your place, I imagined that I quit smoking and met a girl who adheres to the wedding vow “In wealth and poverty, in illness and health". You are lucky, appreciate it ... BTW, congratulations on your achievement Sr. Member rank, 249+1 (in fact, I get a little euphoric when I send merit to those who, on the cusp of a new rank, publish something heartbreaking). Thanks for bring this to my attention or I would have missed it. Have just a merit but will send it since this is a great post showing about determination and having gone thru the exact same thing around 6 years ago, I can related and know of the sacrifices one must of endured to get through those tough time.

WO is not really the place to be discussing this, but for those abstaining from eating meat (vegetarians, vegans, etc.) for ethical reasons (i.e., being against cruelty to animals), please understand that our very existence and way of life in this world is based on violence and causes violence by natural necessity. To really stop causing violence, one must commit suicide. It is of no coincidence that in certain languages, the word "life" is exactly the same as the word "violence". It's a cause and effect thing. We cannot escape it. This is part of the tragedy of our existence.
Having said the above, I fully understand OOM's stance on this. I once watched a YouTube video (now banned) of slaughtering a cow in a slaughterhouse in former East-Germany, and I literally threw up. I would probably feel and do the same as OOM, if I was forced to slaughter an animal with my own hands before eating it. This is just our brains trying to deal with an act that seems so incompatible with our ethical values. Is this what we do to animals? Yes, it is! And many more, unspeakable acts of violence, that we do to animals and fellow humans, to sustain our existence and way of life. Violence that society/civilization carefully shields us from. It's kind of like unplugging yourself from The Matrix and seeing reality in its truly raw form.
