Then again, every paycheck was converted to bitcoins so I was 99.99% bitcoin. It's all I had to spend.

As I began reading the article I was trying to figure out how to get my name into this system, then I saw the blockchain part. I'm sure each hospital will need to sign a message with their private keys to get the data onto the blockchain.

Oh well, I'll just have to go the Panama way on getting a freedom pass.

I will not part with 1 BTC out of my stash until that pays for at least the following (in total):


A smallish / mid sized mansion
Nothing too fancy to draw attention. Mostly practical and new.


The equivalent of working for another 20 years or so to pay for taxes, monthly bills, food, holidays and whatever else


Tesla Model S Plaid+ or whatever equivalent at the time and ability to get a new one every 5 years for 30 years or so.


A decent supply of whores whenever needed over 20 years. Mostly high class. I have no time to be involved in women that want drugs or other crap.
Being a sugar daddy is fine if the woman is decent and not an imbecile.
A vetted woman for marriage may be possible with a prenup I guess. However the older I get I'm starting to think it's just unlikely. People have too many interests these days to hold it together it seems.

Target BTC price (with how the economy now stands) $7.5 million I reckon.

I'd be surprised if that happens before 2030 but if it did I literally would quit whatever job I'm in on the day.

Until then I'm too tight to spend my BTC and rather save money where I can.

I also think this Covid pandemic is going to continue for several more years making spending much money rather unfun - unnecessary anyway.

Hey, I put down 2 bitcoins in part to pay for a used Porsche a few years ago. For that I can now buy a pretty nice new one or a small house.

The trick is I have *enjoyed* the car immensely during that time. Enough that the memories over time are probably worth the difference.

Can't hold off on happiness forever but yeah the $30,000 towels from 7 years ago are looking a bit frayed....

You may well be in a mindset that you are able to distinguish between the principle value of what you are accumulating and income that might be derived from that principle value.  Perhaps?  Perhaps?

Hard to know the details, but not hard to imagine that the parents may well have suffered from some of the same ignorance as the girl in terms of NOT really understanding how to preserve principle.. especially if the girl is ONLY 16 and may well have to live off the money for 60 years or more.. hard to grasp that far into the future, sometimes, so it would be understandable that a large number of adults might also have NOT learned personal money management - and gosh maybe they would have had some difficulties imposing their values on the girl, too.. NOT sure about the laws in regards to how much they might have been able to impose upon her.  I believe in the USA, there could be laws that allow parents to impose their will upon their kids until they are 18 years old, but even if the laws are there, the parents might still be reluctant to impose their will upon a kid who has gained such value (too liberal of thinking in these kinds of cases, perhaps?)

The reason for this happening very often is that the winner of a lottery is a compulsive gambler.

Most compulsive gambler's play too much and

 A) they win a lot of lotteries.
 B) they tap out since winning was not why they were gambling compulsively.

With My luck mining BTC it  looks like I will be a millionaire in about 6 or 7 years. I will be 70 or 71. I can handle being worth 1 or 2 million.

But If I were 16 and won like she did I would have fucked up bigly.

BTW no matter what you think about Donald Trump 'bigly' is a nice use of English language so I do thank him for that.

I started with Bitcoin when someone at work told me about it.
That was when BTC was $90. It was the best reason to buy video cards.
Made some because I was intrigued... not because I thought I would get rich.

This is the "not having a plan" variation of making a lot of money even when there was NOT too much thought to it.

I thought I was late in the game but held on to my small winnings (only a few coins).

Of course, who is to say if there might have been justification to buy more along the way.. but whatever, it is what it is, and surely shows that having some coins was better than not having any, even if having those coins was a bit of an afterthought to some degree.

My poor-ass investment grew and I viewed it as a lottery ticket.

Now I realize that I am one of the few that did the true HODL.

There are variations on HODL.. for sure.

Bitcoin wasn’t as trusted as it is now. An investment now is so much more trustworthy.

Surely seems to be the case.

Bitcoin will pay for my full luxurious retirement :-)

Actually, an ironic part does remain that mediocre amounts can really add up.. and we have already seen that some of the really early folks had thousands of coins that they got for little or no cost.. and sometimes they were sloppy with their making sure that they safeguarded those coins.

So yes even if you don’t hold a lot it WILL compound over time.

Historically that has been true, but when we talk about the future, we still need to consider the matter as not guaranteed.

The moral of the story
1. Those video cards made 250x their money
2. Even small amounts of BTC will bring you >100x returns if you just leave them for 10 years or so.

Well, currently $90 is around 622x.. with our current BTC prices at about $56k.

I do believe that another 100x from our current price is reasonably possible.. and even in 10 years or perhaps less, but it seems far from guaranteed.. maybe in the ballpark of 30% or maybe greater...?  Hard to place a percentage value on something 10 years into the future, for sure.

3. Bitcoin is the best investment in this century....

Well, it ONLY has had a market price since about mid-2010.. seems difficult to assert this kind of claim, I would think... but hey could end up being true.. I have surely considered bitcoin to have potential to be the best investment of a lifetime in terms of potentiality for the greatest wealth transfer potentiality in history.. to date.

I think a large part of it is consumerism propaganda. People have been brainwashed into wanting to spend money instead of saving and investing it. They've been trained to want silly crap like designer clothes, cars, hookers, blow, etc.

Hey.. I take that personally.. .. especially the part about hookers, lambos and blow..

To me, it seems to be a matter of when and whether that stuff is within the budget, rather than what... even though some kinds of consumptions hold value better and even appreciate in value better rather than depreciating in value or being considered as consumption goods.

Surely, any of us should attempt to know the difference between the kinds of goods that we might be purchasing/consuming.. .as well as categories of our budget, too.

Even when they do invest it, it's in the form of retail scam "investments" like stocks, bonds, mutual funds etc., instead of creating new enterprises or promoting new technologies.

The whole lottery scam is just an extension of this. First you brainwash people into spending as soon as they earn. Then you get them to spend what they haven't earned yet. Then you con them into gambling on a scam with much worse odds than Vegas or Monte Carlo. Even when they do fluke a win, they often (usually?) blow it all anyway, mostly on consumerist crap, and end up back as debt slaves.

...and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer...

Ain't we got fun!

You are correct vapourminer (as usual, I hate to say).  There might need to be a kind of WO orientated chart that would include maths and sciences and categories like: 1) percentage of profits of HODLer BTC portfolio and 2)  percentage of king daddy price drop needed to perceive "dippening."

We could have proudhon channel some of his seemingly excesses in maths and sciences energies and get to work on that, but he would likely fuck it up like nobody's business.
