China about to go full North Korea?
Pretty much: Remember that China can simply start executing citizens with Bitcoin, torturing them, declaring them "enemies of the state". If there is one thing China/NK has it's a lot of people, so an individual person doesn't mean much. It's too bad, I'm sure China is about ready to introduce their own Govt backed shitcoin, but really who would want a coin backed by torture and human suffering? But that's the way it goes. Hope China has fun staying poor.....

Hope China has fun staying poor..... I agree about the trend but have a slightly less sinister view; people are useful labor for China, and forced labor cost nothing. So, it seems more likely the citizens caught with Bitcoin will start producing iPhones for Foxconn (or similar), joining the existing 500k workers in that one factory who work over 6 days per week, 12 hour shifts, and earn USD$20 on average per week. Last time I checked BOM cost, Apple adds roughly 400% markup on the iPhones produced when sold retail. China is afraid of change, I think cryptocurrencies they have a no control over was bit too much for them to handle right now. As someone pointed out, big mistake, as Bitcoin moves "decentralized" away from exchanges instead, then they will have even less control.

The "news" these days is what the outlets want you to hear and what gets the most clicks. The more scandalous and attractive the title; the more they go for it. Hence the BTC is bed for the environment narrative that's getting pushed atm. Validates the no-coiners into feeling better about their decision not to spend time to get off their own ass and learn about the best opportunity in lifetimes. That's why it's so important to not just get your "news" from one source. Filter out the noise, the truth is usually somewhere in the middle

Isn't this actually great news? No more cheap coal-based mining in china means no flooding the market with their cheap BTC.
it is good for miners in other countries. Especially if they are established. The diff dropped from 26.3 to 19.9 soon it goes to 16.0. So My coin cost will drop again and stacking btc becomes easier.

Really, another China ban? People panic sell and tweet deleted after? Apparently the FUD still works even after so many times. This shows how pathetic the market still is. Oh well, Coca-Cola lost billions in market value after Ronaldo switched a bottle of Coca-Cola with water. The market will always be pathetic while we're on the exponential part of that S-curve. It'll only be some of us who truly get FOMO and the fearful other side of its coin, the rest will buy and sell like sheep.

YES! This. It is GREAT news. As is the hash rate plummet. For the same reasons. The fact is mining is moving to countries that are more free (still/ hopefully? lol) than China. I know we have leftists amongst us as well as the libertarians and crypto anarchists. But governments in the socialist_>communist part of the political spectrum are NOT going to like Bitcoin. Ever. Because it takes control away from the state. The distaste for Bitcoin from the government in the US is different. There is the portion of governing folks who disapprove of it for the same reasons as China, of course, but there is also the hegemony of being top dog world currency wise. I am not convinced that the FREEDOM of Bitcoin will be something western governments will like either, but at least it stands a chance here. I really really look forward to seeing those miners come back online in North America, Central America, Kazakhstan, and other places. The sides are forming... for the most Epic fight in the history of the world. It is super unclear now, but BOY are we in for a ride.. Whew.
