It clearly is just gaslighting about democracy.  Old Joe is the elected candidate for leader of the Democrats going into this election and they just tossed him on his ear and are undemocratically installing Kamala.  She's already raising funds for her campaign.  Who elected her as party leader?

The voters in the primaries. The way the system is set up, you vote for a candidate in the primaries and you have to trust his/her choice of a yet-unannounced running mate.

Remember Gerald Ford? People voted for Tricky Dicky in the primaries and then for him and Spiro Agnew in the general election. After Spiro quit, Nixon arbitrarily installed Ford as his VP so when Tricky himself was forced to quit, Ford became president without ever being elected.

Democracy? I guess everyone got to vote. Voting for Nixon or Biden in the primaries shouldn't mean electing Ford or the successor to whomever Harris might choose as a running mate though. This "democracy" is flawed.

Same holds true for Trump/Vance. When you vote for a geriatric candidate like Trump or Biden, you take your chances.

I'm in my mid-70's but I'm still sharp enough to know I'm too old to be running a government.

I also question the motives of anyone over the age of 70 who would even want to try to run a government. It seems like power hunger is the chief driving force. Any normal person should welcome the chance to live happily ever after.

Well, there is a democratic process for each party to come up with a presidential nominee and after Bernie et al got screwed over, the rules were said to have been strengthened.  The process isn't nominate and fall back to the appointed VP after forcing out the old part.  I wouldn't expect the Dems to follow any democratic process though; why start now?

Please there is no democracy. Just a bunch of clowns robbing us blind on both sides.

I got some Gox fractions of BTC back via Kracken. Much less than the 20% was supposed to be, and I can't see any BCH. Maybe I just need to wait a bit more......

Mtgox coins have started hitting the market. The first users are beginning to confirm having received their coins. Market only down $2,300 so far today and holding up well. I imagine the losses will accelerate as people get off work or start seeing their nest egg declining as well as more users receiving their coins. Still hoping we see some billionaires taking advantage of the liquidity to do some stacking so things don’t set off a panic.

Did all those people also getting some alts back??
And selling them at the same time?

Btw not saying that you got some price actions wrong lately… though I just not following the pad all the way…

If it were me, I'd be selling bcash like mad to buy me...

Do I want a car?
I sure would like a villa
I'd buy more bitcoin

I don't remember this happening as you describe it.
Do you mean TCJA (tax cuts and jobs act)?

That one had some positives as well as negatives.
Negative was that you could basically deduct only the standard deduction and you can put in only $10k in RE tax.
charity for middle class became mostly meaningless since you still just get a standard deduction.
Another negative-you could not recharacterize the Roth conversion (from IRA) back to IRA-that one hurt as it was very useful if a stock price declined.
Positive-20% deduction on a pass through income for businesses, immediate expensing in section 179.
All and all-for me, personally, taxes did not change much.

Additionally, presidents do not pass laws, that's the job of the legislative branch. Though it would be interesting to know which lobbyist group wrote it.

The text in question appears to be section 13303 (3303 in the original).

Quote
SEC. 13303. LIKE-KIND EXCHANGES OF REAL PROPERTY.
    (a) In General.--Section 1031(a)(1) is amended by striking
``property'' each place it appears and inserting ``real property''.

And a bunch of other stuff I won't clutter this thread with. It's interesting as it's almost as if it was written to target cryptos without looking like it was targeting cryptos.

presidents pass the law when they sign off.

the only time a law is not passed by the president is when the legislative branch over rides a veto.

trump did not veto that law which specifically favored real estate trades only.

it is one of the worst things done by the U.S.A. to crypto. I was not a fan of Biden and I am not a fan of Trump.

They are no longer good for America and at least one of them is not running.

I get why you favor trump but I am simply explaining to you he fucked crypto bigly with that law.

If Trump were to drop out and Vance were running AND HE PICKED Liz Cheney for Vp I would likely vote for him.

And not vote Harris. I won’t vote for someone that 11 years older than me. At 67 I know enough about old to tell you Trump is shot and won’t last 4 years.

Vance is a bit to right but picking Liz Cheney as VP centers the Republicans and I could tolerate that.

But it would mean Trump drops out.

I am not anti Harris but would love for her to pick a centrist candidate for Vp

I am still not thrilled since Trump is still running and he is pretty much not qualified to run the country because he is simply too old.

Nest eggs which in valid claims range between fractions of a Bitcoin up to 200 000 BTC per creditor out of which 15% - 20% are paid out.
