life in prison for sending $51.80 is insane, nasty regime!https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp9rygl5k4jo.amp

The UK are right on Russia's tail and putting people in jail for 3 years+ for writing hurty words on Twitter and Facebook,
even when these words were written only on their own FB profile and the profile was locked down amongst "friends".

Note: the average UK jail sentence for knife crime is less than 8 months.

There have even been suggestions the UK should remove access to Twitter and try to arrest Elon Musk if he set foot in the UK
as people are trying to take his "Civil War is inevitable in the UK" tweet out of context and claim he is calling for that and had a hand in the riots sparked by the murder of 3
little girls by a second generation immigrant criminal.

So the UK government literally want to go after an African-American for free speech, living in the largest country that declared independence from the British Empire.
Let that sink in.

If I were Musk with that type of F Y money, I would play the biggest card that would completely screw the UK government over with its EV plans for 2030:
End all new Tesla car sales end of this year until 2031 and operate a maintenance only service for 6 years.

He should totally do that, and show them that private corporations that deny products/services over "freedom of speech" policies can cut both ways:

Deny the UK of any new Tesla sales until they fkn shape up.

But he won't do that, because money. I mean hell, he sells Teslas to communist fkn Russia and China!

Telsa has no hand. GB could simply import Chinese evs on the cheap.

IF THEY WANT to hurt Tesla it would,be that easy.

LAST I looked China can build evs that work for 25% of tesla price.

If GB wants to punish tesla it is that easy.

https://electrek.co/2024/03/06/byd-launches-cheaper-seagull-ev-9700-price/

9700 bucks.

BTW if Trump loses Kamala may cut a no tariff deal to fuck Detroit bigly.

Can you imagine the USA flooding the country with Chinese evs at 10k a piece and riasing gas tax 200%

Fun world isn't

Did you even look at those? They look like Honda Fit (discontinued).
With 100% tariff it would be $20K, same as Fit, more or less.
That said, do I think that Model S and X are overpriced?
You betcha, but the cost of sales in China has not much to do with cost of sales in US or GB.

Same with almost any good: cigs, potatoes, medications.
Cars would have to travel on a ship across two oceans to get to GB.

Obviously I failed to be clear enough. If they really want to hurt Musk

I failed to clarify that means allow China to pay no tariff at all.

Shipping is cheaper than you realize a boat filled with cars is under 2k.

If you flood the UK or the USA with 9700+2300= 12000 a car and raise gas tax Musk is crushed.

I thought I was clear enough that the USA government and GB government could hurt Musk bigly by doing that.

And I assumed I was clear that  would mean 0 tariffs.

But in reading what I wrote I can see someone could miss no tariffs is implied.

By the way, bitcoin volatility index is up 3-fold since late June and is highest since April 2023.
https://bitbo.io/volatility/

You can see it in the dailies: constantly up and down 1K-2K.

I am not sure what is the cause, but it could be two large and strong groups of investors in loggerheads or something else.

$1.4 Billion worth of Bitcoin options are expiring today around 8am UTC
And these are usually accompanied by heightened volatility.
