but if you are not my age say 68 and did not have a fifty oz collection of coins at 18 cost of 300 bucks and sold at  2000 when you were 20 you won’t have the attachment to it i do.

Phil - You would definitely have an attachment to it because you were in your early 20s to experience it first-hand when the Hunt brothers tried to corner the silver market in late 1970s to 1980 causing the price of silver to soar from  $7 to $50 and then 'Silver Thursday' hit on March 27, 1980 with panic!  During that time some people sold their sterling silver because the price was so high and some people bought silver bars and coins because they thought silver would continue to soar higher. It was a time when people didn't know whether to sell their silver pieces or to buy silver. Some got lucky and some didn't. The Hunt brothers' silver caper caused them to personally lose over $1 billion when they went bankrupt.

What I find interesting is that when you were 18 to 20 years old (at the time that the price of silver soared) you were already thinking about investing - putting money (even $300 or what little money most 18 year-olds may have) into some form of asset with the expectation that it will grow in value over time. That is unusual at that age! But, we have a lot in common because I learned the importance of investing early in life too, and it has paid off handsomely putting me in a very exclusive bracket.

what do they think is going to last longer, the USA or bitcoin? Fun starting point IMO

Cute of you to assume either would survive manmade horrors such as a nuclear holocaust or engineered mirror-life bacteria/viruses (invisible to immune system).

bruh

come on

I don't hold any metals although I can't fault someone who has gold and silver right now, I wouldn't feel too safe about the silver especially if I had some though.

Yes,
the air we breathe is free...
...free of purity
....

It depends on what you use.

I swear by these. During last summer's wildfire smoke pollution events, I was breathing chip-fab/medical-isolation quality pure air.

I was thinking about buying something like this and I did some research - it seems like a lot of these devices are mostly useless, but this one caught my eye although I don't know if it's justified for it to cost over EUR 1000.

Merry Christmas!

I've been hospitalized for a gallstone attack (gallbladder), and it seems I'll have to have my gallbladder removed next year to avoid further problems.

Everything is fine.

I sold enough that my remaining stash to drop to zero and I would be ahead. But sad.

I will list a Christmas Day sale appealing to people that got cash for Christmas and why hold that germ ridden paper when you can get red hot and antiseptic pure silver from me on ebay.

I will be listing my

Kennedy halfs
my Washington quarters
and my Roosevelt dimes

tommorrow morning.

Silver did a selloff and a v back today so it may still have legs to pass 80 an Oz.

oh grabbed corn today.

Can we rename this thread to Wall Observers Metal/USD?  Cheesy

I was hoping that we were ONLY temporarily distracted into the shiny object realm and that at some point in the near future (aka soontm), we will return to our regularly scheduled programming.

One of the realities of markets is that they can sometimes persist in a state that seems quite irrational and crazy.. and so likely we have to bear (pun not intended) through those situations.  Hopefully, actual bitcoiners are not going to need to soon tell the shiny object worshipers to fuck off.

I guess one of the saving graces, perhaps to the one perpetuating this the most (Phillip) is that at least he is mostly talking about selling that crap (currently silver, previously copper), even though he is sometimes implying that there might have had been some correctness in his past decision-making process to have had gotten involved in that various crap in the first place.

Sometimes when I think of Wall street and it's inability to fully accept/grasp bitcoin i am reminded of a mental picture of a 2-3 year old stubborn boy who refused to eat when mom is giving him something yummy...closing the mouth, turning left and right in the feeding chair, throwing a tantrum.

Come on! It's delicious  Grin
