The whole time I was bitcoin mining, I had a canary with me.  If the canary keeled over, that was my cue to get the hell out and happened to me in 2014.  I'm not sure how philipma1957's canary is still singing.
I do not go back into my past to review errors. I just do not do them anymore.
This is very simple stack game  and hodl never sell.
Unfortunately I did not catch on to it until much too late.

If I simply just held my signature earnings and never spent them I would be a wealthy man.
But no use crying over spilt milk.
Just do not spill any more.
I have to say… what strange trip it’s been!
From wiring funds to MtGox … trading huge amounts of Bitcoin…all the exchanges that went belly up!
losing 8 figures and continuing on… it’s not how hard you fall…but that you get up and face each day and continue on!

Easy thing to say… most difficult thing I’ve ever done! It has defined me…
Giving up a lifetime of drinking… quitting …facing my demons…
I really believe that my trials refined me as a person in the smelting pit of life!

Lots of things we would all do differently… carry on… that’s what warriors do !
Thank you all for putting up with all my drunken trolling over the past decade 😝
Cheers OGs n Hodlers …

Sometimes mistakes are made, and even relatively BIG ones - yet there is a certain value in the kinds of persistence, like you said.

I think that there are quite a few bitcoiners (I am including myself in this part) who had lost decently large quantities of value, yet the great price appreciation of bitcoin, might not have had registered the loss, in dollar terms... even though surely whenever we end up with fewer bitcoin due to mistakes, there still had been losses.

I had actually had some issues, in which I had bought bitcoin and they did not arrive and also issues in which I had sold bitcoin and the payment got reversed... and there were some honest folks who helped to fix the situation, and other times the transaction ended up being a total loss,  since the person on the other end of the transaction was not honest. .. but in the end, I still made a lot of money by erroring on the side of holding bitcoin and building up bitcoin holdings.. even if the size of the bitcoin holdings ended up being smaller than what they "could have had been."

JJG comes to mind, but not only... .......................So he has gained our respect over the years as an important member of this community, even if sometimes he can be a little preachy and even end up on some of our ignore lists from time to time.

hahahaha .. ..preachy meet preachy....

and  fair enough about the ignore list.. some guys get very exited to use such tool that is available for their pleasures, which I really don't have any problem with whatever's their choice.. and sure, with any long post there can be tendencies to skim - perhaps read a little in the beginning, a little in the middle and a little in the end, and if nothing resonates, then move on to the next post... ....

You have not quite gained that level of acceptance here yet. This is not a private club or an old guy's network or anything. It's just a bunch of people who have known each other for quite some time and share a common thread which you are a little bit outside of.

And so here we are.
Or maybe you're a bot.

I can see some version of the trolling disingenuine dweeb BTCETFInvestor:

It is not necessarily bad for any normies to have hopes, and I doubt that the bot investor is any kind of normie.. He has shown his colors, several times - including that we know that there are a lot of disingenuine PsyOps who peruse these here parts.. so it is not necessarily a good thing to help out (or invite) the PsyOps.. ..

I thought that there is a lore in respects to vampires.. in that if you invite a vampire into your house, then you lose protections.. .. and so sure we might all die now.. all because of you cAPSLOCK , but hey, whatever.  You do you.

Of course there is desperation in coming up with the next "crisis".. when the power and/or internet ends up having to go out.

By the power of Chuba-Duba, I command this mild downward creeping pressure on the price of Bitcoin to cease, and for at least mild to medium uppity to resume!
There, that ought to do it.

Yes.  Spiraling death of mining...

Just as predicted several times in the past. It is really, really, really, coming true this time.

[edited out]
if it is simply slower than the recent price drops of the fall it is just catching up.
or if it is a future indicator we are going to go down.

JJG would say mining has nothing to do with price and it is not a future indicator.
I have seen slow diff drops pre lead price drops a few times.  Which does worry me as I grabbed a lot of corn.

in the 90k area.
A drop to some shit hole number like 65-75k would suck

You are right.  JJG would say that mining is not a leading indicator, event though it is not a non-factor.  Mining is just one of several factors, and miners play their own games to try to figure out ways to push out other miners by creating hostile conditions and/or uncertainties.

Of course, we cannot say that the mining death spiral of 2021 was caused by miners, since they were likely largely reacting to some regulatory (governmental) coercion in and around China at the time... but still there was a creation of uncertainty for a while.. that did not necessarily cause the price actions around that that time, even though dynamics around mining in 2021 were not non-factors, either.

By the way Phil, think of yourself, and your little wafflings at any sign of a potential fall rather than a rise in price. You cannot help your inclination to want to trade, rather than invest.. .. which may well end up getting you into trouble again... .. yet it is not likely you have any kind of long term plan that cannot be adjusted based on your ongoingly changing tendencies to change sentiments.

...

Two consecutive Saturdays and two consecutive hikes.

Best physical activity for your entire body.

@WatChe - That hiking trail looks really steep, making it a real cardio workout! Margalla Trail?

It's throughout flat. Good for regular walk near foot of mountain.

@ESG  - I wish for all of us here good health, prosperity and friendship and for the price of Bitcoin to go up like a rocket ship to the moon and its market cap to steadily gain and reach gold's market cap before we die...  Grin

I am an old bloke.
But I have recently put some effort into physical activity.
Shredded 10 kg (if you are familiar with this unit) in the last few months.
Doing some gym work, using various apps to gamify that.
Been quite successful, I guess, even if I am so far from El duderino_ standards.
Sleeping more.
Lifting more.
Stacking more.

ICE arrests people because of their accent, and to make matters worse, the arresting man has an accent that could also land him in jail when he takes off his uniform. This kind of tyranny is hard to see on the streets of some countries where human rights don't really exist - but those who voted for their peacemaker must be very proud.

Well he is trying to leverage the Ukraine for Greenland.

by getting stupid European leaders to waste troops in Greenland and not put them in the Ukraine.

Putin smiles with glee at the plan as the Ukraine will likely fall due to this ploy.

Well the USA is becoming much like the Amazon tv show " the Boys "

in that the so called "good guys" super heroes  (super powers) are fucking scum.

As a kid growing up in NYC I read a lot of books on WWII I wondered if it could repeat itself.

Well yeah it looks like it will repeat itself.

Some good things that may save us.

@Lucius - There's no tyranny taking place in the U.S. and human rights are of upmost importance and fully protected under the Constitution. The U.S. wants people to enter the U.S. legally. People from anywhere, regardless of their accent, that are in the country illegally are arrested, many of them have committed criminal acts (e.g. murder, rape, mugging, human trafficking, thief, gang members, drug cartel members, etc.) in the U.S. or in their native country. The U.S. does not want those people in the country.

Greenland will be much better served being owned by the U.S. rather than by Denmark. Only the U.S. can manage Greenland's security against rivals like Russia and China.

The European military presence was interpreted as an act of defiance against the campaign to purchase Greenland, so those countries are being assessed 10% additional tariffs.
