Too much happening IRL, can't keep up, skimming through the posts...
Destroyed a $1500 phone today. A good lesson not to get too attached to gadgets. Fuck it, will get another one (with fiat, won't be touching my BTC!).
[...]
I managed to bring the phone back to life! The battery connector had popped off, I used a plastic prying tool and a hot air gun to remove the back cover and re-attach it. Now all working fine (or so it seems). It's fun doing little repairs like that. A few weeks ago I replaced the Ni-MH battery of my 8 y-o toothbrush (which was more difficult than the phone repair!). It's not the cost saving, but the satisfaction of keeping something alive instead of the easy option of throwing it away and buying a new one.

Most companies make it really difficult to repair your own electronics these days - sometimes by design and sometimes by end user agreements - so a flex of your ingenuity and a few minutes of your time to restore a $1500 phone is a win and gives you a sense of satisfaction. Wow... I sound like Ai Good job, man!

Wow... I sound like Ai Good job, man! Thanks! You're absolutely right, the latest electronics, from phones to laptops, and even cars, have become non-repairable by the average owner, even by those with technical knowledge. Especially the phones, which are glued together and you need to use a hot air gun to loosen up the glue. That's what I did on mine. As I was sliding the prying tool between the pieces to remove the cover, and feeling the adhesive separating, I was thinking, there's no way this thing will work again! I think the EU is pushing to make it compulsory for companies to use removable, user-replaceable batteries in their devices, and there are already some phones and laptops which are specifically designed to be user-serviceable/upgradeable. Like Fairphone, and Framework. Will consider them for my next devices (esp. the Framework). The thing is, the latest-and-greatest gadgets, like the flagships from Samsung and Apple, are still too difficult to even open, let alone replace parts. I hate it when there are no screws and everything is glued together...

Leverage trading is terrible, very damaging. Juicy $356 million 100x leveraged cunts liquidated. These are really tools that should not be available to the wider public, it is worse than gambling.

What is with the shakey?
Thin liquidity, heavy over-leveraged positions unwinding. One report shows $500M+ in long liquidations in about an hour, and another shows liquidations jumping 770% in 24 hours.

Liquidity to pick up until down to $82.xxx may play a role, too.

I shall be posting from The Maldives next week, thanks Bitcoin.
Have a good time on the beautiful beaches, LFC_Bitcoin! Was in the Maldives last year. You will absolutely love the bounty paradise destination.
My advice is to pay attention preventing getting sunburned.
Sunpower is exceptionally strong due to its location on the equator.
Use a lot of sunscreen and wear a t-shirt during snokeling otherwise your back will turn into red lobster that will screw your holiday enjoyment.
What season would you recommend going to Maldives? For best weather is between December and April, when it’s dry, calm water, sunny and warm but it will cost you more money. Rainy season is from May to November. More showers of rain, still warm and sunny. Underwater visibiliy is not that great for divers. If you are on a budged September and October are the wettest months. The world is really a wonderful place, in my country from October to December is usually the dry harmattan season, the weather by this period is always cold and dry, you see the grasses and leaf's weather away. However from May to August is usually raining season, but for some us that stay close to the tropical rainforest, it rains almost till September, sometimes the rains doesn't stop even when we predict to be the end of the raining season. Perhaps you live near the Gulf of Guinea?
