Has anybody here figured out who the FBI's suspect is for kidnapping 84 year-old Nancy Guthrie in Tucson, Arizona and demanding a large ransom payment of Bitcoin to a wallet address determined to be a legitimate address?

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/celebrity/articles/nbc-today-show-host-mother-004139052.html

I'm guessing the kidnapper will be found if/when they use an exchange to cash out or convert to fiat.

Centralized exchanges (Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, etc.) are required by law to:
- Perform KYC (Know Your Customer)
- Log IP addresses
- Log device fingerprints
- Log withdrawal addresses
- Respond to subpoenas

If a ransom wallet ever sends funds to an exchange, investigators can follow the chain and then subpoena the exchange.

So much for Bitcoin OPSEC! The idea that Bitcoin is 'untraceable' is a myth. It’s pseudonymous, not anonymous - and investigators exploit that gap relentlessly.

I would think that addy would be well watched.

Yeah, I suspect the FBI is watching that address and will use deeply sophisticated techniques to locate the suspect.

Even highly disciplined criminals make errors by reusing an address, mixing personal and criminal funds, using a mixer incorrectly, connecting through a VPN that leaks or using a KYC’d exchange just once!  Another mistake would be paying for a service that logs IPs.

Investigators don’t need one perfect clue - they need one mistake.

In the distance you hear the metallic clink, crack and snap
of a bear trap, followed by the umistakable growl of a startled bear.

What do you do?

She is African American Venezuelan and Irish

I have followed her career because a friend of mine won a contest and he plus nine others got to do a meet and greet in the late 80's or early 90's

He said she was really pleasant and he like to hear her live voice.

Yeah but.

What about her racks?
