"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED.
"Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
"The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland. We would like to thank the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

With Iran's history of lying, cheating and not following agreements, and with Israel also not the most honest actor - I see numerous breaks in the mortar of this non-binding deal within a matter of days.

However, a major leak occurred today (June 14, 2026) when Iran’s state-affiliated Mehr News Agency and senior Iranian officials leaked the core points of the 14-point draft framework to international outlets like Reuters.  

The leaked wording reveals a massive, deliberate gap in how Washington and Tehran are phrasing their commitments, illustrating why the deal is so highly contested.  

The primary components of the draft framework break down as follows:

1. The Core Trade-Off (Security vs. Transit)
The Maritime Wording: The draft text states that Iran will "immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels," while the U.S. commits to "wind back its naval blockade of Iranian ports and commerce" within 30 days.  
• The Hidden Catch: While the U.S. version frames this as restoring complete freedom of navigation, Iranian state media (Fars) has leaked an internal interpretation stating Iran only agreed to restore traffic to pre-war levels, explicitly declaring that Iran retains the authority over "routes, schedules, and transit permits," and may collect environmental or transit fees.  

2. The Nuclear Commitments
The Agreement Text: Iran formally reiterates its commitment under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) that it "will neither produce nor acquire nuclear weapons" and agrees to "maintain the nuclear status quo" during the 60 days.  
• The Postponed Terms: The draft text states that the highly sensitive issues - the actual dismantling of centrifuge sites, the fate of Iran’s 400-kilogram stockpile of 60% enriched uranium, and localized UN inspections - are deferred.
► The text merely states that the "mechanisms" for diluting or removing this material will be “discussed within the 60-day negotiating period.”

3. The Financial and Sanctions Clause
This is the exact section causing severe friction and contradictions between the two capitals:
The Leaked Iranian Version: The leaked draft published by Tehran states that the U.S. agrees to "release $24 billion to $25 billion of Iran’s frozen assets" during the 60-day talks, with Iranian officials claiming half of those funds must be unfrozen before the virtual signing or immediately upon execution. It also includes an Iranian clause demanding that the U.S. and its allies present "reconstruction plans" for Iran.  
• The U.S. Interpretation: White House officials and the Wall Street Journal have struck back sharply at this specific wording, stating the text is strictly a "performance-based framework."
► The U.S. position is that the draft commits the U.S. only to negotiate the lifting of sanctions and asset releases during the 60 days, and that no money will change hands until physical verification of nuclear rollback occurs.

4. Regional Conflicts and Forces
The text calls for an immediate extension of the regional ceasefire to "all fronts, including Lebanon."  During the 60 days, the U.S. agrees it will not deploy additional forces to the region or impose new economic sanctions.
• The leaked Iranian text also features a clause stating the U.S. will begin a withdrawal process from military zones adjacent to Iran - a point the U.S. has not publicly verified.
