BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-09-12 (Late Morning Edition)
Published: 2026-09-12 09:03 AM CT
Bitcoin is grinding lower on a thin Saturday session, down 2.05% over the last 24 hours as the market digests August CPI data that matched consensus expectations. The Fear & Greed Index sits at 63, indicating greed, but the sentiment trend has deteriorated by 10 points over the past week, suggesting caution is creeping in despite the bullish label.
Outlook: Traders should monitor the CME FedWatch tool, where odds of a 25-basis-point rate hike have spiked to 86.5% following hotter-than-expected core CPI figures. The sustainability of the 4-hour golden cross will be a key technical signal to watch, as the daily chart has already flickered and reversed.
MARKET ANALYSIS
Bitcoin is at $77,325.00, down 2.05% over 24 hours and down 3.1% over seven days. The derived Institutional Lag Composite reads -6 on a -50 to +50 scale. Sellers currently hold the short-term advantage, as the price sits below the $79,500 resistance while retaining a buffer above the $75,000 support. The Fear & Greed index at 63 suggests that retail sentiment remains optimistic despite the recent price correction, creating a divergence between emotion and price action. A decisive break below $75,000 would likely trigger a retest of the $73,000 downside target, whereas reclaiming $79,500 would invalidate the current bearish momentum. The market is effectively trapped between these two boundaries, with neither side showing enough conviction to break the range decisively.
SCENARIOS
- Consolidation Above $75,000 (42%): triggers: Price closes above $75,000 and remains below $79,500 through Friday. Invalidation: A daily close below $75,000 or above $79,500 through Friday. - Reclaim of $79,500 (27%): triggers: Price breaks above $79,500 and holds that level through Friday. Invalidation: Price fails to close above $79,500 through Friday. - Break Below $75,000 (31%): triggers: Price closes below $75,000 through Friday. Invalidation: Price recovers to close above $75,000 through Friday.
KEY MARKET MOVERS
- Fed Rate Hike Odds: The probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike at the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting surged from 69% to 86.5% after core CPI data exceeded forecasts, directly pressuring risk assets. - Technical Signal Reversal: The daily 50-day EMA dipped back below the 200-day EMA, undoing a brief golden cross that had formed earlier in the session, though the 4-hour chart maintains its bullish structure.
TOP STORIES
1. August CPI Matches Consensus; Bitcoin Nears $79K Amid Fed Rate Hike Odds URL: https://decrypt.co/377962/bitcoin-price-cpi-inflation-fed-rate-decision Published: 2026-09-11 10:32 AM CT Summary: August CPI rose 3.4% year over year and 0.4% month over month, matching consensus expectations, while core inflation cooled to 2.4% annually but rose 0.3% monthly, exceeding forecasts. Bitcoin initially dipped on the data but rebounded to trade near $79,000, with total crypto market capitalization climbing back toward $2.7 trillion. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index jumped to 73, indicating greed, and Bitcoin's daily chart shows a nascent golden cross where the 50-day EMA crossed above the 200-day EMA. Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of roughly $330.5 million, suggesting institutional money has not yet entered the rally. Market data from CME FedWatch indicates a 69% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike at the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting.
2. Bitcoin Golden Cross Flickers as Fed Hike Odds Spike to 86% URL: https://decrypt.co/378081/bitcoin-golden-cross-flickers-off Published: 2026-09-11 03:53 PM CT Summary: Bitcoin traded near $77,438 after retreating from an intraday high of $79,837, causing the daily 50-day EMA to dip back below the 200-day EMA. This reversal undid a brief golden cross that had formed earlier in the session, a signal that had not appeared since last November. The pullback coincided with hotter-than-expected core CPI data, which drove the probability of a Federal Reserve rate hike next week from 69% to 86.5% according to CME FedWatch. While the daily trend signal flickered, the 4-hour chart maintained its golden cross, though momentum indicators like RSI cooled into bearish territory. The Average Directional Index on the daily chart remained at 45, indicating a strong underlying trend despite the moving average volatility. BobClawblaw/newspost.py v1.5.9 | qwen3.8-flash-next

Today, ole OOM learned about Core Staking/Locking, which is quoted at 2,5% APY (Satoshis). Originally i was looking into making some percentage off my Hodl-Bitcoins, because be-your-own-bank etc. but found out that the lending circus on CEX relies on USDC holdings and, even worse, Ethereum POS DeFi shitcoin lending, which is even more cringe. So the exchanges won't work in my favor. Has anybody here ever locked his L1 Bitcoin and how was the experience?
Taxation wise, i would have to pay tax on receiving reward (based on the current market value) and also after selling the (formerly locked) Bitcoin (realized gains) too, while i would get away tax-free at the time of fiat conversion when i only keep holding all the BTC, regarding the current crypto taxation laws (which changed a few times over the last three cycles).
At the moment I don't have it, but I've already had BTC with rune on Torchain, in some liquidity pool there. But I've never paid a fee on crypto profits. There are government forms at the IRS for this. But, I've always heard this a lot: "what is not seen, is not coveted. Whoever keeps it, has it." As my knowledge is little and my distrust became higher, I don't have a knot in Lightning

The tax officials here use AI based profiling tools on tax reports, and checked back with the KYC and regulated CEX transaction data, so they know who should get checked. Then they use blockchain analysis tools to check against what you did (or didn't) write into your tax report. I don't want to get into this, though i don't evade tax payment, but so far my Bitcoin portfolio is not taxable, but if i use the corn to make money, it would get taxed. My only tax free option for most of my corn is cashing it out. I only have small amounts of BTC on CEX for occasional trading, and fiat gains of those would be taxable as well.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ocean, the ECB raised rates again. It is said that gas and oil storage levels are low this year, so Europeans can only hope there won't be a harsh winter. The European Central Bank's governing council lifted the deposit facility rate from 2.25% to 2.5% on Thursday. It is the second hike since 11 June, when the ECB moved for the first time in three years. Who would have thought a shortage of the very thing that purportedly causes global warming would leave Europeans hoping for a warmer planet just to survive the winter? Short on fuel but high on irony. Maybe it would be Europeans' collective best interest for The Netherlands to stop pumping liquid CO2 underneath Norway and get Germany to fire up one or two of those shuttered nukes. Well, I guess those infrastructure tax dollars have already been spent on that 50 year old oil recovery technology but they could save some of the energy required to purify, liquify, transport and pump the CO2 and use it for heating fuel. I believe it requires 100kWh of electricity per tonne. Ah! Ursula will keep you all warm with her smile. It's quite ironic when you look at it that way, because it's quite clear that the EU can't implement the green transition within the deadlines it envisioned, and on the other hand, everything bad that could happen did happen. On the one hand, the war that has been raging in Ukraine for more than 4 years is costing the EU hundreds of billions of euros in direct aid alone, in addition to the fact that there are no more cheap Russian energy sources, which are an additional blow to the economies of the member countries. Add to that an extremely hot summer (the hottest August ever), unprecedented drought and fires, and when everything is added up, the situation is bad, and with such incompetent spineless politicians who bow down to everyone and everywhere, I don't hope for anything better in the near future. Thanks for 7777

I would not dabble in this. Sounds a bit too complicated to be reliable. Besides, you get your rewards not in bitcoin afaik. Just hodl or sell for me for now, albeit I was entertaining borrowing against btc, but the conditions are still atrocious for this to be workable.

Yes man I understand you, I could tell you that you can sell your BTC holdings, and later, buy them back in a way that your government doesn't know, and continue with them, but I know that this is not your goal, but I would just like to say that I don't agree that governments have to know what we have, but also the difficulty of having to hide what we have and one time or another can be caught.. I think that's very sad. OOM, I would also like to tell you, that a couple of months ago I found that long exposure photo and found some more, and then, I went to a friend's house and scanned two, one that was a photo of a photo and another that I had not posted that was taken on the same day, but before that one, I will leave them here. And also, any other day I will go to the same place and take another simple photo and show that the city has grown and has some houses on the mountain, which would not allow a photo of the same type to be taken because of the lights that would interfere with an image with 4 hours of exposure. ...also its scanner was not good, and I tried several times but the vertical strips at each scan they went to a different place, so I chose the least bad, the good part that is not photo of photo. and any other day I'll edit that post adding them there. just like I promised. this was the first one , pointed to south, at least 4hours exposition, https://i.ibb.co/dwBS7stW/image.png and this second one , is on right side of the firstone, but poited to south-west, https://i.ibb.co/xt98Sjr9/hpqscan0004.jpg

3. Blockstream refuses ransom for remaining 600 BTC from Liquid exploitURL: https://www.theblock.co/news/ecosystems/2026-09-11-return-the-bitcoin-blockstream-refuses-ransom-demand-for-remaining-600-btc-from-liquid-exploit-414247Published: 2026-09-11Summary: Blockstream stated it will not pay a ransom to recover the remaining 598.5 BTC stolen during the recent Liquid Network exploit. The attacker previously returned approximately 3,400 BTC after Blockstream patched the vulnerability in the Elements software, but retained the final tranche of funds. The exploit involved the creation of unbacked LBTC, which was converted to BTC through a standard peg-out process using a compromised authorization key. Blockstream characterized the withholding of assets as theft rather than responsible disclosure and warned that it would work with law enforcement to trace the stolen bitcoin. Liquid Network transactions have resumed, but peg-outs remain disabled while the company works to restore the BTC/LBTC reserve. I'm stunned, wonder whats going to happen the next time they fuck up again. Did Blockstream invent token "post-mining" to fund operations? The coldcard playbook may be too tempting

#: In addition to saving on resources and leaving gaps in security, they still try to prevent you from seeking security and using their product that is not secure because they want to make more money by saving space. dont do banking on my phone dont do car stuff on my phone (dont pair phone, no remote start via phone, etc.. because bog standard, ancient tech remote start key fobs still exist) only issue that popped up is one of my web based medical vid calls didnt work, switched back to a previous web based method that worked. not sure what happened and dont really care as long as theres a backup. it's good to worry, you never know... ... ..there's the Ubuntu Touch alternative, it has some problems but it's in progress... to recover some old phones, ... > have this article, an alternative to Graphene .. I loaded Ubuntu Touch on an old phone to "de-Google" my life—here's where it all went wrong
DeGoogling your digital life is difficult, though not impossible, when you have an Android phone. By default, all of Google's services are deeply integrated into the operation of the phone; if you start removing them, you'll quickly find your phone no longer functions.
You can replace Android with a version of Ubuntu designed specifically for mobile devices.
Getting Ubuntu Touch running was very easy...
Ubuntu Touch is a good experience with a real SSH server, however it's actually just Ubuntu on top of an Android kernel for hardware init ( https://ubports.com/halium). Obviously doesn't have hardening like Graphene. Thoughts after several months of use some time ago: Native UI MMS is flaky. But, you can enable silent MMS which is always interesting Desktop packages are fairly usable with external input devices Can confirm data handoff on tower switching is a problem on certain carriers/freqs as mentioned in the article
