That said, I agree with the sentiment that IF life can be extended 30-40 years (or more) and all you need is to pay for it, then people would use almost all of their wealth to do it.

Who wants to pay an additional 40 years in property taxes to extend their lives by 40 years?

You’ll go through all of your savings, then have to live to see another century of politicians ruining society.

Sounds more like a punishment than a benefit.

Just got new glasses for 420€ with 55€ off the original price. Now here is the question: did the optician notice I am stoned and that's why he made it 420? Or was it just part of customer service?

Sounds like top-tier customer service to me.

Next time ask for a 69€ discount and see what happens.  Grin

Take a deep breath and zoom out.

We had 2 nice green monthly candles. Compare that to the little red blip that is our current monthly candle and relax.....

No worries, i am already relaxed  Smiley
I also think the board's "undecided" emoji doesn't really reflect this particular emotion, but it looks more like "i don't like what i see", which may have given my post a little bit of some negativity spin...
However, i'm just curious how the market will react (if there really will be a 0.25% rate hike announced today).

Though i am hoping for a decent dip to compensate for buying opportunities that i have missed in the past.

Big day today if they approve Clarity ore not.

$70k ore $100k.

SEC and the CFTC are pro Bitcoin with ore without Clarity.

Going to the gym, have a nice day.

I think the Clarity Act has less influence on Bitcoin's price than people want to believe.  I even think there's a case to be made that the Clarity Act is bad for Bitcoin, but what do I know...  I think it is a lose-lose situation.  If it passes, it is a sell the news event and if it fails it is a catastrophic slap to the face of crypto and likely will cause widespread selling.  So $50K or $70K is probably better targets for if it passes or not.

One thing that actually does matter to Bitcoin and has potential to send the price skyrocketing upward is the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, which may be taking another step forward this week as it gets a committee markup from the Financial Services Committee on Wednesday morning.  Bitcoiners are watching the wrong regulatory development right now for some reason...  Ethereum and Solana are the big winners in the Clarity Act...

It is evident that investors always latch onto whatever is most hyped in the media; aside from Clarity Act, there is practically nothing else that could fuel a bull run - even if it has little to do with Bitcoin. As far as SBR is concerned, that also seems to me to be a hollow story considering that the US adds new BTC to its reserve exclusively through confiscations, so why buy if you can get it for free?

Yes alts are likely to profit from Clarity Act, but their current price does not suggest that anyone is betting on such an outcome.

Confiscation only works until the easily seized coins run out. If governments actually want a strategic reserve that matters, eventually they’ll have to compete in the open market just like everyone else.

The US government has not invested a single cent in Bitcoin or altcoins, yet today it holds nearly 330 000 BTC. Considering that they have full control over some of the largest CEXs operating in the US territory, and that they have enormous resources through various agencies, it is not at all a question of whether the current number will only increase, but at what speed it will happen.

Considering that all the BTC they don't own are more or less tainted, they just have to choose the next victim who will be left without their coins. Maybe one day things will be the way you describe, but that day is still a long way off.

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-09-16 (Late Morning Edition)

Published: 2026-09-16 09:04 AM CT

Bitcoin is grinding lower, down 3.5% over the past seven days as the Fear & Greed Index slips to Neutral (51) amid a deteriorating sentiment trend. The market is digesting the news that CoinEx will formally cease operations in 2026, a closure driven by prolonged weakness and compliance risks that underscores the sector's consolidation phase.

Outlook: Traders are watching the upcoming Federal Reserve rate decision, where a hawkish surprise could pressure risk assets further despite potential dollar weakness. The MSCI consultation on excluding corporate Bitcoin treasuries remains a critical structural risk, as passive fund flows tied to index eligibility could trigger significant selling pressure from firms like Strategy.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $75,699.00, down 0.97% over 24 hours and down 3.5% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads -4 on a -50 to +50 scale. Sellers currently hold the upper hand, as the price struggles to reclaim the $78,500 resistance level while hovering just above the $73,000 support floor. The neutral Fear & Greed index of 51 suggests that neither bulls nor bears are driving extreme conviction, leaving the market in a state of cautious equilibrium. A decisive break below $73,000 would likely trigger a retest of the $71,000 downside target, signaling a shift toward deeper correction. Conversely, a sustained close above $78,500 would invalidate the current bearish bias and open the path toward $80,500.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $73,000 (38%): triggers: Price remains above $73,000 and fails to close above $78,500 within five trading days. Invalidation: A daily close below $73,000 or above $78,500 within five trading days.
- Breakout Toward $80,500 (27%): triggers: Price closes above $78,500 and holds that level for at least two consecutive days within five trading days. Invalidation: Price fails to close above $78,500 or drops below $73,000 within five trading days.
- Breakdown to $71,000 (35%): triggers: Price closes below $73,000 and maintains that position for two consecutive days within five trading days. Invalidation: Price recovers to close above $73,000 within five trading days.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Fed Policy Uncertainty: The upcoming Federal Reserve rate decision poses a macro risk, as markets price in a 25-basis-point hike that could dampen risk appetite for digital assets.

TOP STORIES

1. CoinEx to Close on Dec. 22, 2026, After Nine Years
URL: https://decrypt.co/378324/coinex-shutting-down
Published: 2026-09-16 03:01 AM CT
Summary: CoinEx will formally cease operations on Dec. 22, 2026, exactly nine years after its 2017 launch, with spot trading ending Sept. 29. Founder and CEO Haipo Yang stated that he rejected a sale of the exchange in favor of a clean wind-down for staff, users, and token holders. The company will repurchase its native CET token at its original listing price of 0.005 USDT with no volume cap during a buyback window from Sept. 15 to Sept. 29. Yang cited prolonged market weakness and increasing compliance risks as the primary drivers for the closure. This exit follows recent shutdowns by BitMEX and BitMart, and comes months after TRM Labs alleged CoinEx facilitated over $3.8 billion in flows linked to sanctioned Iranian platforms.

2. MSCI proposes index rules that could exclude corporate Bitcoin treasuries
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/msci-objective-benchmark-to-market-regulator
Published: 2026-09-16 08:18 AM CT
Summary: MSCI launched a consultation on August 3, 2026, to restrict index eligibility for "non-operating companies," a move that threatens to remove major Bitcoin treasury firms from global benchmarks. The proposed methodology uses financial ratios to identify holding vehicles, which simulations indicate would flag Strategy, Metaplanet, and Yellow Cake plc for exclusion. Strategy holds over 845,050 bitcoin, and its removal would impact approximately 13 million shares held by passive funds tracking MSCI indexes. Strategy executives argue the criteria lack grounding in GAAP or IFRS standards and contradict SEC-aligned accounting practices that classify Bitcoin operations as an operating segment. The dispute highlights growing tension between private index providers acting as de facto regulators and corporate entities utilizing Bitcoin for balance sheet management.

3. Fed meeting poses risk for Warsh as Bitcoin trades near $75,800
URL: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/09/16/fed-meeting-is-shaping-up-to-be-a-nightmare-for-warsh-bitcoin-might-still-shine
Published: 2026-09-16
Summary: Bitcoin traded at $75,800, down nearly 3 percent, ahead of the Federal Reserve's rate decision. The Senate's defeat of the Clarity Act removed a potential source of support for digital assets. Markets have priced in a 25-basis-point rate hike and expect further tightening, creating a difficult scenario for Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. Robin Brooks, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, warned that Warsh cannot meet these aggressive expectations without damaging the central bank's credibility. A less hawkish message could weaken the dollar and raise long-term Treasury yields, potentially benefiting Bitcoin and gold after an initial sell-off.

X Money pays 6%. Coinbase just had a deal where they were offering 6.5% (for a limited time). Even my bonds are paying nearly 5%. Rates are still rising… I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw someone start offering 7% on FDIC insured deposits soon. We may be in the Cash is King phase, if even for only a short while.
Short-term promotional schemes are not really a reasonable comparison. Else I might reasonably mention the BOGO offers at Kroger.
X Money offering 6% may or may not be short-term. Luckily, I am not planning to live forever so I will focus on the reality of the current situation rather than having a fear of something that may or may not ever happen.

BOGO offers at Kroger are reasonable to mention. I take advantage of them quite frequently. Seems like there’s always another offer available…

Phil and a lot of other normies were so excited in late 2022 and early 2023 to be able to earn 5% on their cash, and so there were a lot of folks maximizing their T-bill purchases during that time, when it is would have had been way better to be using that cash to buy bitcoin.  Good luck with your various cash investment, you are likely going to need such luck, and sure, it is not anything new that you under appreciate the power of bitcoin, since if you had appreciated the power of bitcoin you would have had established your stash between 2011 and 2017 rather than getting started after that time and acting as if you have bitcoin figured out because you learned about cycles in 2018... hahahaha.

Though i am hoping for a decent dip to compensate for buying opportunities that i have missed in the past.

How could that even be possible for a "true" bitcoin bull?

We have had 10-ish months to accumulate, and of course, since February the prices have even been better, which would be 7.5 months... .

I know that even the supposed bulls like to play the price waves rather than ongoingly accumulate bitcoin or to have some system in place that does not allow for guessing about whether the BTC price is going to go up, down or sideways in the short to medium term.

Sure, waiting for more down before up remains a possibility, even though it also seems problematic to be gambling with any meaningful portions of our bitcoin holdings.

If I could live 69 more years to 138 and my wife could be there with me.

It would be hot. Now obviously I AM  making the assumption that I get no less healthly

than I am now. And that my wife's health is also good.

When I was a kid I used to play catcher in baseball. I had an expensive catchers mitt.

I would work it until it was a wonderful fit supple nice well oiled.

My wife and I work at pitching and catching we would have more time to practice and

get better at the game. So 69+69 =138 is worth a lot for me.

Seizing coins from darknet markets and exchange hacks might build a stash, but relying on criminal busts isnt a sovereign reserve strategy.

The moment another nation-state actually starts buying directly on the open market, playing legal pirate wont cover the scale.
