Hey, AI aficionados...what would be a reasonable amount of memory to run a decent AI locally?
I've got some numbers from the internets already, just wanted to know the opinions of some knowledgeable peeps here.
That said, memory is priced very high rn.

a lot of stuff seems sized for the >= 24 GB cards that lets you run ~30B q4 models with a bit of context room. youll need like at least twice that for system memory from what my task manager says (so ~64 gigs system used for 20 gig llm thats loaded into video ram.

ive run 130B q4 models in system ram, its painful but it runs and its gets pretty detailed.

i just play with this im not in any way actually knowledgeable, sorry lol

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-09-24 (Evening Edition)

Published: 2026-09-24 09:04 PM CT

Bitcoin is grinding higher, up 4.7% over the last seven days, as institutional conviction remains firm despite a $2.1 trillion market cap contraction over the past year. The Fear & Greed Index sits at 71, signaling greed, while price trades well above the 30-day moving average of $79,573.

Outlook: Traders should monitor whether the recent surge in spot ETF inflows sustains momentum or if thinning volume leads to a consolidation phase. Watch for continued stability in on-chain activity metrics, which have shown resilience even as broader market value fluctuated.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $84,528.00, up 0.51% over 24 hours and up 4.7% over seven days. The derived Momentum-Sentiment Composite reads +13 on a -50 to +50 scale. Buyers currently hold the initiative, as the price sits comfortably above the $81,000 support level while testing the upper boundary of recent consolidation. The Fear & Greed index at 71 suggests participants are leaning into optimism, yet the modest 24-hour gain indicates this enthusiasm is not yet accompanied by aggressive volume. A decisive break above $88,000 would confirm that buyers have absorbed all available supply at current levels. Conversely, a failure to hold $81,000 would signal that the recent rally was merely a liquidity grab, potentially inviting sellers to push toward $78,000.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $81,000 (34%): triggers: Price remains between $81,000 and $88,000 through Friday, with the Fear & Greed index staying above 60. Invalidation: A daily close below $81,000 or above $88,000 before Friday.
- Breakout Toward $91,000 (35%): triggers: A daily close above $88,000 occurs through Friday, accompanied by a Fear & Greed reading exceeding 75. Invalidation: Price fails to sustain levels above $88,000 by Friday, or drops back below $81,000.
- Rejection at $81,000 Support (31%): triggers: Price closes below $81,000 through Friday, with the Fear & Greed index falling below 50. Invalidation: Price recovers and closes above $81,000 by Friday, or breaks above $88,000.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Institutional Allocation Rigidity: Major institutions maintained or increased Bitcoin holdings during recent volatility, treating price dips as accumulation opportunities rather than exit signals.
- Regulatory Clarity Impact: Recent SEC and CFTC developments regarding tokenized assets and rulemaking have bolstered institutional confidence, directly supporting spot ETF inflows.

TOP STORIES

1. Crypto market value drops $2.1 trillion while on-chain activity remains stable
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/cryptos-bear-market-wiped-out-over-2-trillion-yet-on-chain-activity-held-above-9-trillion
Published: 2026-09-24 11:40 AM CT
Summary: The global crypto market lost approximately $2.1 trillion in value over the past year, yet total on-chain economic activity declined by only 1.6% to $9.4 trillion. Chainalysis data shows that some shitcoin inflows into crypto services rose 5.3%, and cross-border some shitcoin transfers increased 77.5% to $220.3 billion. Direct transfers between personal wallets surged to $228.7 billion, indicating that users continued moving funds despite the broader market downturn. Bitcoin fell $67,000 from peak to trough during this period, contrasting with the 23% contraction in activity seen during the 2022-23 bear market. The resilience of some shitcoin usage suggests a shift toward utility-based transactions, though it remains unclear if these flows will convert into durable commercial payment volume.

2. Institutions Held Bitcoin Through 2025-2026 Crash, Some Bought More
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/institutions-held-bitcoin-through-crash
Published: 2026-09-24 01:03 PM CT
Summary: Bitwise Asset Management interviewed senior allocators at 15 major institutions, including endowments and pension funds, finding that none reduced their crypto allocations during the price drop between October 2025 and April 2026. Several institutions actually increased their holdings during the sell-off, treating the volatility as an opportunity rather than a signal to exit. Bitcoin remains the only cryptocurrency held by every institution in the study, often serving as a primary hedge against currency debasement alongside gold. One endowment described its position as a long-term bet on Bitcoin reaching a $20 trillion market cap within five to 15 years, while another sovereign wealth fund partially funded its crypto allocation by selling gold and foreign exchange reserves. Investors indicated they would only exit if the underlying thesis broke due to regulatory reversal or credibility crises, not because of price volatility.

3. Bitcoin breaks $80,000 amid institutional demand and regulatory clarity

Published: 2026-09-24
Summary: Bitcoin recently broke above $80,000, reaching a high of $86,000, driven by strong institutional inflows and improved regulatory sentiment. K33 analysts view the current cycle low as established, noting that the recent drawdown was shallower than previous bear markets. Spot Bitcoin ETFs saw nearly $1 billion in inflows, marking the largest daily ETP inflow since November 2024. Regulatory progress, including the SEC's five-year relief window for tokenized asset trading and CFTC rulemaking, has supported market confidence. However, Nexo analysts caution that thinning volume and narrowing market breadth could make the rally vulnerable to a pause or pullback.

Self control is very important in gambling because that saves you from side effects of gambling.

If you are betting and only putting a small money then you can enjoy the process otherwise betting will be stressful.
