Hey, AI aficionados...what would be a reasonable amount of memory to run a decent AI locally?
I've got some numbers from the internets already, just wanted to know the opinions of some knowledgeable peeps here.
That said, memory is priced very high rn.

a lot of stuff seems sized for the >= 24 GB cards that lets you run ~30B q4 models with a bit of context room. youll need like at least twice that for system memory from what my task manager says (so ~64 gigs system used for 20 gig llm thats loaded into video ram.

ive run 130B q4 models in system ram, its painful but it runs and its gets pretty detailed.

i just play with this im not in any way actually knowledgeable, sorry lol
