We're slipping despite the "good" weekly close - actually, right after it. This says a lot about the accuracy of crypto twatters. Or maybe it's just a quick stop hunt? As usual, she does what she does. We're kept watching and guessing.

I believe this could signal a major shift in the market. It often seems as though the market is poised specifically to trigger the ‘stop-loss’ orders of small investors; the underlying reason is that large investors are constantly trying to force small investors out of the market.

But why do the small investors place longs and shorts instead of buying and hodling?

They stay for more profit And big investors exploit their greed. Therefore, I believe it is better for small investors to avoid holding long and short positions.

You seem to be speaking theoretical @CryptoVertex7, since there seem to be a pretty decent number of guys participating in this here thread who play long only.. so yeah, sometimes in the short term, or even a few years into HODLing and accumulating bitcoin, the long positions might seem like they are not doing so great, yet at the same time, historically, the ongoing holding of long positions in bitcoin has been a quite profitable play..

Accordingly, guys who are ongoingly buying bitcoin and not selling any they are long bitcoin and holding their long position and they are not doing shorts.  They may well be erroring on the side of HODLing through the ups and downs of the market when they run out of money and they might not have (or feel that they have) additional money to buy more bitcoin, yet it seems to me that ongoing buying has been even better than HODLing through the bad times.. yet ongoing buying would likely ONLY be motivated for guys who believe that they don't have enough bitcoin.   Guys sometimes will error into thinking that they have enough, so they will purely HODL rather than continuing to buy more bitcoin.

Even though HODLing and believing that we had enough ended up working out for a good number of us, there are likely also a good number of us who have passing thoughts that they might have had stopped accumulating bitcoin too soon.. even though their assessment of having enough bitcoin and/or more than enough bitcoin was largely correct.

So yeah claims that longs and shorts get reckt by the BIG guys seem to not be correct, since if guys had been largely buying, holding and even suffering through the downward manipulation times (in other words they did not get shaken into selling), then how were the ongoing and persistent longs damaged by the manipulators, except merely having to wait longer before it might have had started to begin to make sense to start to sell some of their coins. .under the presumption, again, that they have enough or more than enough bitcoin.

You are right. However, I feel people often confuse a long-term bullish outlook on Bitcoin with a leveraged long position. If someone buys Bitcoin in the spot market and holds onto it meaning they aren't forced to sell a temporary price drop doesn't wipe out their position instead, it merely tests their conviction and patience. We often make mistakes because we fail to grasp this distinction.

Huh?  So you are going to presume that the normal state of affairs is to think about leverage rather than more straight-forward ideas of ongoing, persistent, consistent, regular and perhaps even aggressive buying, that could also be characterized as DCA.

In bitcoin, why would anyone with an investment timeline of 4-10 years or longer need to leverage... and yeah, sure people are greedy, yet historically, if you take any two cycles, the level of returns seem to be unbeatable.. , which I think that I said that.

Sure, history does not guarantee future results, but there isn't any meaningful evidence that really helps to argue that bitcoin's investment thesis is getting any weaker with the passage of time, even though arguably the slope of the curve cannot likely be as steep as it had been historically... yet a mere lessening of anticipated slope of the curve does not seem to justify taking any other position, other than regular longs.. .. in other words, who the fuck needs leverage, when bitcoin has been (and likely will continue to be) amongst the best (if not the best?) of investments available to everyone and anyone.

At the same time, we know that bitcoin is not guaranteed, yet a normie with a $30k per year income should be able to figure out how to buy $100-ish per week of bitcoin for 4-10 years or longer without feeling as if he has to fuck around with leverage.

Related: I got my Mac Studio M5 Ultra up and running and finally powered down my 2019 Intel Mac Pro for the last time. The power efficiency alone on these M5 chips is easily a two-thirds to three-quarters of what Intel/AMD pulled on the 2019 Mac.

Anyway, I was getting Blockyard up and running on Apple Silicon and noticed that I got so fuggin' retarded with 3D effects in the current code, that it was pegging the entire GPU, and basically had become "the sexiest looking Bitcoin node visualizer and GPU benchmarking tool around!"

tl;dr: I implemented a "Simple" mode with no effects and animations, and it's now pulling less than 11% GPU usage compared to 99%.

What amazing fun.

Also, I wasn't happy with any cluster monitoring software I saw out there, so I rolled my own solution over a couple days with Claude. Crazy time to be alive.

If it brings anything at all, this year's been kinda rough, rough as in unpredictable, whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on the individual but we can at least agree that bitcoin being this unpredictable also shows how independent it is.
