Good morning wo.

I am half asleep and off to the hospital hoping my bro-in-law passes these tests today.

Ugh,I need more  coffee.
Hope all your brother-in-law's medical tests go well today. Best wishes to your brother-in-law, hope you get a good result today and definitely share it here and you sip another cup of hot coffee because it seems like you really need it because you didn't get a full night's sleep.

Well, another month has ended, Rektember was not so bad, and all bodes well for Uptober!
Rates are going bonkers, diesel is through the roof, but bitcoin is trading steadily: more time to stash sats at a reasonable price before choppers start pouring in.
Shout out to the incredible soundtrak of the month, absolute banger.

Netherlands drops plan to tax unrealized Bitcoin gains after investor backlash
This looks like click bait to me. On Dutch sites, all I've seen is the state secretary saying "we can't do it any other way". Right. If that's true, they shouldn't tax it at all!

I don't understand what you mean. I assume you're better informed on this, given your background, so I'll ask.

Click bait as in they haven't really dropped it and are still going along?
They can't do what any other way than how?

To be fair, iron fisted management by long game scammers is probably better than those who would be more inclined to "improve bitcoin" like gav and hearn before

The flight of the Flydubai company that was going from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted and made an emergency landing an hour later in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, the most interesting thing was that, the stabbed pilot who transmitted the international code '7500'. hijacking or illegal interference in the aircraft, in my opinion, the presidential elections of Israel are near, and maybe Bibi wants to stay in power just like Zelensky? false flag? I don't know, but the circumstances are not normal.... these Zionists...

You find it suspicious that a flight bound for Israel has Israelis on it? That a pilot on a plane that was attempted to be hijacked set their transponder appropriately? What's the angle here?

I ask because I do love a good conspiracy but this seems like a bit of a leap.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

This is exactly what you would expect from bureaucrats; governments trying to levy taxes on profits that arent real yet.
Politicians using their power to scare journalists, and investors to make political points. Investors getting spooked by phantom income.

Governments taxing imaginary earnings in actual cash. People getting sick of it all and leaving. With taxes at 36 percent of realized gains, maybe I should keep my keys stashed on the boat. Its the best macroeconomic strategy I’ve heard so far.
Hahaha i also heard about the boat strategy and may be i also do it in few years because in our country the government is also busy working on crypto tax laws.

The hardest part about losing all your Bitcoin in a boating accident isn’t even losing your Bitcoin. It is that you have become so accustomed to the address that you keep sending funds there for years afterwards.
Such a weird thing to do, yet so many people still do it. Someone should investigate this phenomenon.

Is that what happened to you?

It's hard to investigate: more often than not, those who suffer such terrible accidents can't even remember the address. The sending of funds in those cases is likely due to some automated bot left to dry out there.

some miners kept paying into mtgox after it shut down. i assume they were in remote areas and were set and forget.

Funny...mtgox still existed when I initially got into bitcoin, but then, they already had their April 2013 "episode", so I decided not to engage.
Later on, I remember how Risto (RIP) was frantically trying (and probably succeeding) to extract millions out of there.

Well, even Tim Draper (a knowledgeable VC) lost 30K btc on MtGox, albeit by now he probably has got much more in $$ value in distributions thanks to roughly 100X btc appreciation since the mtgox demise.

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-10-01 (Evening Edition)

Published: 2026-10-01 09:04 PM CT

Bitcoin is grinding higher, posting a 1.70% gain over the last 24 hours as the market defies the historical 'Red September' curse to start October. The Fear & Greed Index sits at 72, indicating greed, though the sentiment trend has deteriorated slightly over the past week. Price action remains resilient above the 30-day moving average despite recent ETF outflows and rising Treasury yields.

Outlook: Traders should monitor whether the recent ETF outflows persist or if inflows resume, as this flow dynamic often dictates short-term momentum. Additionally, keep an eye on the $84,433 resistance level, as a break above this technical barrier could validate the bullish prediction market odds for October.

MARKET ANALYSIS

Bitcoin is at $84,896.00, up 1.70% over 24 hours and up 1.0% over seven days. The derived Institutional Lag Composite reads -0 on a -50 to +50 scale. Buyers currently hold the initiative, pushing price action toward the upper boundary of the recent range. The market sits comfortably above support at $83,500, yet it has not yet cleared resistance at $86,500. This positioning suggests a tug-of-war where momentum is present but not yet decisive enough to break out. A sustained close above $86,500 would signal that buyers have absorbed the supply at the highs. Conversely, a failure to hold $83,500 would indicate that the current greed is fragile and selling pressure is returning.

SCENARIOS

- Consolidation Above $83,500 (47%): Triggers: Price remains between $83,500 and $86,500 through Friday, with the Fear & Greed index staying above 60. Invalidation: A daily close below $83,500 or above $86,500 before Friday.
- Breakout Toward $88,000 (33%): Triggers: A daily close above $86,500 occurs through Friday, accompanied by a Fear & Greed reading exceeding 75. Invalidation: Price fails to close above $86,500 by Friday, or drops back below $83,500.
- Rejection and Drop to $82,000 (20%): Triggers: Price closes below $83,500 through Friday, signaling a loss of short-term support. Invalidation: Price recovers and closes above $83,500 by Friday, or Fear & Greed rises above 70 without a price drop.

KEY MARKET MOVERS

- Macro Yield Pressure: The Federal Reserve's rate hike to 3.75%-4% and the 10-year Treasury yield hitting a 52-week high create competitive pressure on non-yielding assets like Bitcoin.
- Institutional Accumulation: Strategy continues to accumulate Bitcoin, holding 847,666 BTC, with Arkham Intelligence tracking 78% of these holdings on-chain, signaling sustained institutional demand.

TOP STORIES

1. Bitcoin Starts October at $83,823 Amid Fed Rate Hikes and ETF Outflows
URL: https://decrypt.co/379833/UpTober-will-bitcoin-live-up-to-it
Published: 2026-10-01 12:11 PM CT
Summary: Bitcoin trades at $83,823, closing September with a 6.33% gain that defied the historical 'Red September' curse but fell short of a record high. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates to 3.75%-4% on September 16, pushing the 10-year Treasury yield to a 52-week high of 5.289%, which creates competitive pressure on non-yielding assets like Bitcoin. Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $148.69 million in net outflows on September 30, ending a nine-day streak of inflows that had totaled approximately $3.08 billion. Technical indicators show a strong uptrend with an ADX of 41.5 and an RSI of 61.8, though price action remains stalled below the $84,433 resistance level. Prediction markets assign 48% odds to Bitcoin reaching $90,000 in October, while only 7% of traders expect a new all-time high before 2027.

2. 21bitcoin Pays Interest on Euro Balances in Bitcoin
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/21bitcoin-pays-interest-on-euros
Published: 2026-10-01 11:25 AM CT
Summary: Austrian platform 21bitcoin began paying 1.21% annual interest on customers' uninvested euro balances, with the option to receive payouts in Bitcoin without conversion fees. The company claims to be the first European provider to offer savings interest directly in Bitcoin. Interest accrues on all euros in the account, including cash reserved for pending purchases or limit orders, with no minimum deposit or lock-up period. The interest is funded by Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Bayern Mitte eG, a German bank that holds a stake in 21bitcoin, and customer funds are held in a segregated trust account. 21bitcoin passes the interest on in full without keeping a margin, positioning this model against high-yield crypto lenders that previously failed.

3. Arkham Tracks 78% of Strategy's Bitcoin Holdings
URL: https://news.bitcoin.com/featured/arkham-says-it-tracks-78-of-strategys-847666-bitcoin-holdings
Published: 2026-10-01 08:40 PM CT
Summary: Arkham Intelligence identified approximately 78% of Strategy's 847,666 Bitcoin holdings through public blockchain tracking. The analytics firm attributed $40.28 billion to labeled on-chain wallets and another $15.5 billion to assets held within Fidelity Custody. Strategy reported holding 847,666 BTC after purchasing 1,665 BTC between September 21 and September 27 for $142.7 million. Michael Saylor, Strategy's executive chairman, has previously opposed publicly disclosing the company's Bitcoin wallet addresses. Arkham analyst Emmett Gallic attributed recent transfers from Strategy-linked addresses to standard Fidelity custody operations rather than asset sales.

4. Block Launches Bitcoin Spending Campaign
URL: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/block-launches-bitcoin-campaign
Published: 2026-10-01 03:15 PM CT
Summary: Block launched a new advertising campaign on Thursday to encourage consumers to use Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. The initiative features ads across YouTube, X, Meta, Instagram, Fox Sports, and select movie theaters, running through December 31. Block's Bitcoin Lead, Miles Suter, stated the campaign illustrates how a Bitcoin-centric financial system could simplify everyday life. The ads highlight cost-of-living frustrations and contrast them with Bitcoin's utility, using the slogan "Some things don't make sense. Bitcoin does." This effort aligns with Jack Dorsey's long-standing goal of making Bitcoin a global currency, supported by Block's existing tools like Cash App and Square's Lightning Network integration.

5. Bond yield explosion gives Bitcoin a strong signal
URL: https://cryptoslate.com/bond-yield-explosion-gives-bitcoin-a-strong-signal-is-now-finally-satoshis-time
Published: 2026-10-01 01:00 PM CT
Summary: The Bank of England linked sovereign financing pressure to growing financial exposure to debt-funded AI investment in its September 30 financial-stability record. Bitcoin traded at approximately $84,822.51, reflecting a 1.70% increase over the previous 24 hours. The Federal Reserve raised its target range to 3.75%-4% on September 16, while the Bank of Japan set its overnight call-rate guideline at around 1.25% on September 18. Lightning Labs released agent tools in February that allow software to pay for APIs through L402, enabling small, repeated Bitcoin transactions for AI agents. Mastercard announced new trust and intelligence services for its Agent Pay program, including a score designed to identify AI-initiated transactions, which is rolling out for testing in the United States.

6. Citigroup Raises Bitcoin Target to $113,000
URL: https://decrypt.co/379808/citi-lifts-12-month-bitcoin-target-to-113k-ethereum-to-3k
Published: 2026-10-01 07:23 AM CT
Summary: Citigroup raised its 12-month Bitcoin price target to $113,000 from $82,000 and its some shitcoin target to $3,028 from $2,240. The bank forecasts $5 billion in crypto inflows over the next year, driven by gradual increases in allocations from advisers and brokerages. This projected inflow marks a significant turnaround, as spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow over the twelve months ending in September. The new Bitcoin target remains approximately 10% below the all-time high of $126,200 set in October 2025. Recent market activity includes nine consecutive days of net inflows into spot Bitcoin ETFs, totaling about $3.08 billion since September 17.

Very OT, but something that might explain a somewhat sudden pop in btc:

https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2026/10/01/metamask-security-incident-forces-ethereum-staking-exits-with-lido-warning-of-lost-rewards

I did the quick math and albeit the "loss" so far was only about $977, the actual lost revenue of all forcibly exited validators ("precautionary exits") is about $4.6 mil.
What kind of ledger is that when an actual loss of a less than a grand causes it to essentially deprive 17K "wallets" of about $4.6 mil in revenue?

Bizarro, but...

Not OT: I expect bitcoin to move back to at least 60% and above dominance shortly.
