A long "whining" post, sorry:
Maybe we did not realize something about bitcoin as it shows quite slow performance since Feb 2021. Yes, I am aware of the cycles, but from 60K to 80K is about 33.3% in roughly 56 mo or about 7.14% yearly, which is sub-par. Perhaps, it is basing, just like gold did, but then it could continue in this fashion for another 6-9 years. I am just disappointed, that's all, not planning any sudden selling.
For those who believe in cycles, yes, Feb 2021 was more advanced in the "cycle" than now, but, still, 6 years should have shown the "trend".
I am already >12 years in btc and cannot wait another 8-18 to get to a 20-30 year hodl. Sand is running down the hourglass...albeit I am trying to invest in some "longevity" companies. We shall see.
OT My 1997 AAPL investment would have been great by now, lol, sold in late 2000 after the first 10X. Did not "sit' on it long enough, clearly. I also mostly did not participate in the private markets, which was a mistake in the last few years, but now there are too many companies in the private markets with already gigantic valuations, hence, there is a problem of choice. Some private companies were the big winners, but so was NVDA, MU or SNDK. Not sure why I didn't buy any of those.
Overall, I am thinking of curtailing my stock "tries" and dropping everything in a couple of big indexes (like VOO or VTI) plus cash/money market.
Phil posted about FIBT (95% stocks, 5% bitcoin), which might be a little low side as far as btc is concerned.

BobClawblaw's Bitcoin News Digest - 2026-10-28 (Evening Edition)
Published: 2026-10-28 09:03 PM CT
Bitcoin is grinding sideways this Wednesday, with the 24-hour move at -0.98% and the seven-day at -1.6%, while Fear & Greed holds at 51 for a seventh straight day. The dominant story is the euro-area bank lending survey, which showed a net 9% deterioration in retail-funding access, the sharpest reading since the ECB began asking in 2011. Price remains below the 30-day average of $82,618, so the tape is soft rather than recovering.
Outlook: The ECB's October 29 policy decision is the next scheduled checkpoint, and the Fed's hold at 3.75%-4.0% with two dissents in favor of a hike keeps December in play. Watch whether the 10-year Treasury yield, which rose four basis points to 5.025% after the Fed statement, continues to press on risk assets. Hashrate at 650 EH/s with difficulty up 5.83% is worth tracking for mining economics, not for price direction.
MARKET ANALYSIS
Bitcoin is at $80,056.00, down 0.98% over 24 hours and down 1.6% over seven days. The derived Institutional Lag Composite reads -3 on a -50 to +50 scale. Sellers hold the near-term initiative, but they are working against a floor rather than running free. The tape has compressed into a band defined by support at $78,500 and resistance at $81,500, and the Neutral 51 reading on Fear & Greed tells you the crowd has not yet picked a side. A decisive close above $81,500 would hand control back to buyers and open the path toward the $83,000 upside target; a close below $78,500 would confirm the sellers and put the $77,500 downside target in play. Until one of those breaks, the honest read is that this is a holding pattern, and the momentum and sentiment composite sitting at -3 is consistent with drift rather than conviction. What flips it is a clean break with follow-through, not an intraday poke.
SCENARIOS
- Consolidation Above $78,500 (53%): triggers: the market keeps printing daily closes at or above $78,500 through Friday, with Fear & Greed holding in the 40 to 60 band, which would signal that sellers have run out of near-term pressure and the chop continues. Invalidation: any daily close below $78,500 before Friday ends the range-hold thesis. - Reclaim of $81,500 Toward $83,000 (18%): triggers: buyers absorb the supply sitting at resistance and register a daily close above $81,500 through Friday, a move that would need Fear & Greed to push above 60 to look durable rather than a squeeze. Invalidation: a daily close back below $81,500 before Friday, which would mark the breakout as failed. - Downside Re-test of $77,500 (29%): triggers: the $78,500 shelf gives way on a daily close through Friday, with Fear & Greed slipping toward the 30s as the crowd turns defensive, opening the door to the $77,500 downside target. Invalidation: a daily close back above $78,500 before Friday, which would restore the range and neutralize the breakdown.
KEY MARKET MOVERS
- Euro-area credit tightening: The ECB's bank lending survey showed the sharpest deterioration in retail-funding access since 2011, and a separate survey showed a net 46% of firms reporting higher loan rates, which is a macro headwind that sits underneath Bitcoin rather than a crypto-specific catalyst. - Fed dissent and December pricing: Two committee members voted for a hike, and markets now fully price one at the December meeting, which connects the Fed hold to the rise in the 10-year yield and keeps pressure on risk assets.
TOP STORIES
1. Euro-Area Banks Report Record Drop in Retail-Funding Access URL: https://cryptoslate.com/euro-area-banks-report-record-deterioration-in-retail-funding-access Published: 2026-10-28 11:40 AM CT Summary: Euro-area banks reported a net 9% deterioration in retail-funding access in the third quarter, the strongest reading since the European Central Bank's bank lending survey began in 2011. The ECB described the deterioration as moderate, and the measure rose from 3% in the prior quarter. Banks cited higher lending rates as the main reason corporate loan terms tightened, while risk perceptions and lower risk tolerance drove stricter loan-approval standards. A separate ECB enterprise-financing survey showed a net 46% of borrowing firms reporting higher bank-loan interest rates, up from 42%, though a changed sample and mixed reporting periods complicate comparisons. Bitcoin traded near $80,424, down 0.46% over 24 hours, and the ECB's Oct. 29 policy decision is the next checkpoint.
2. Fed leaves interest rates unchanged, as expected URL: https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2026/10/28/fed-leaves-interest-rates-unchanged-as-expected Published: 2026-10-28 Summary: The U.S. Federal Reserve left its benchmark fed funds rate range unchanged at 3.75%-4.0%, matching market expectations. The policy statement said economic activity is expanding at a strong pace, domestic spending has been resilient, productivity growth is strong, and capital investment is robust. The statement also said inflation remains elevated, and the committee said it will deliver price stability. The vote to hold rates was 10-2, with Fed Governor Lisa Cook and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack dissenting in favor of a hike. Bitcoin climbed to $81,000 in the minutes after the decision, the 10-year Treasury yield rose four basis points to 5.025%, and markets fully price in a rate hike at the December meeting. Phil posted about FIBT (95% stocks, 5% bitcoin), which might be a little low side as far as btc is concerned.
I am having trouble understanding how any of us would consider Phillip to be even close to a voice of reason when it comes to bitcoin accumulation and/or allocation ratios. Even if we might give Phil various opportunities to start over in his bitcoin stacking (building up his bitcoin position), he seems to be unwilling and/or unable to build his bitcoin holdings up through a whole cycle.. so from the perspective of this here cat, it seems difficult to get anywhere in building up bitcoin for guys who do not spend time making sure they are ongoingly buying, and making sure that they hold for some time before they start to sell their holdings, since there seems to be (or should be) a goal to mostly hang onto their bitcoin holdings rather than selling them any of the times that there are fluctuations in the bitcoin price, even if they might dabble in various inferior investments (like stocks) from time to time.

Depends what you sold AAPL to buy, the ideal is to swing from a perfect idea to another is almost impossible. If we're comparing asset types, BTC is a commodity comparing to equity. Owning the right equity at times will out perform most things, its much easier to buy a sector or index as you say and participate in the advance overall. Commodity gains are far more irregular, I have a holding that relies on a hot fertilizer market happening but its not here yet and it might take decades to reap the gains. I think it happens due to the weather patterns changing globally in addition to other more predictable changes such as growth in Asia. I also owned Apple and sold it (too early) but I was much later then the 90's. Apple was unpopular for years as an investment despite high margins and good profits, it was doubted greatly and sold down almost inverse to the SP500. AAPL started to pay a dividend and I think that was the period share price really grew as the margins did not disappear or reduce as large investors had expected; they have a large loyalty premium like Coke I guess Buffet recognizes that. Both Apple and MSFT were value stocks, far too cheap now they got a performance premium its hard to decide. You could be there all day trying to decide, best left in a fund alongside its competitors to some extent. I used win 1.0 in 1990 and assumed MSFT was a buy then because it was transformative. Not that I liked the company or its former CEO but they stole a good idea and monetized it well. So 36 years is the time frame a fair idea can work, not that I had any money to invest but shares and the underlying market are almost separate entities at times imo. Big sells during that time frame and that has to be true for every other asset that performs. We can apply that to BTC in that it's good but it doesn't mean the price reflects correctly or anywhere close to consistent predictable gains. I didn't count any of this year as especially negative compared to how harsh BTC can be. We did reset back about five years or so which is enough of a reset to buy then hold going forward and everything after that is gravy. BTC is eight times higher then covid prices, pricing here is not badly off or poorly rated now. 75k to hold support has BTC positive going forward is my bare expectation.
