I think people are sending their fiat to other places than Stamp now. Even though its still the prefered trading platform for many, people don't want to take part in their KYC/AML.

Obvious Bitstamp price suppression is obvious. But they can't keep a lid on a boiling pot forever.

Things might get funny on Bitfinex, now that they are no longer linked to Bitstamp... (less liquidity + ATH USD swaps!) Will we get another finex candle down to 100$ like they had a few months ago? Stop loss will probably get activated with around 30-40$ slippage, which will trigger more (otherwise not activated) stop less. I see a nice rollercoaster ride incomin for them if Stamp stays bearish. Have they already started usin Finexbux to keep the price up?

Its probably just coincidence that the flatline coincided with the bilderberg meetings, the peak coincided with 500 euro and the exchange rate disparity is low on the euro side. Oh, and there's a small spike on days destroyed. Should be interesting to see how long it will need to flatline for a reversal and what happens when folks realise oil prices are about to make a move Oh, I'm sure there are reasons behind whatever happens. It's just so much less efficient to speculate about how to weigh them for each relatively minor swing that I'd rather not do so and instead look at the market metrics alone.

Why is Bitstamp lower than even BTC-E?
Last time Stamp was most bearish was when we went to 400 when Gox bancrupted. This time it does not look like that - I can imagine Huobi being closed by the Chinese government, buy BTC-e? Not likely it is in trouble. I was expecting something like that when it was announced one cannot withdraw fiat anymore from Chinese exchanges. For those who bought at China, selling at Bitstamp is not only an opportunity to withdraw fiat, but they can also convert yuan to $$$ at the same time.

Really? Last time I checked, deposits through bank transfers had been disabled, but withdrawals through bank transfers were still working. The isolated buying spikes since May 20 could be due to some Chiinese traders getting rumors that bank widthdrawals are about to be closed too. Or to rumors of Huobi and/or OKcoin being about to open offshore operations (which they once said they had intention of doing). Or to something else entirely.

Yeah Bitfinex, sort of. They used to rely heavily on Stamp but as time has gone on they use them less and less, at one point not so long ago they did say they were almost completely decoupled.
