Do you think the hacker will use the email recovery option from the Satoshi's wallet and steal the coins?
No, my irony detector is not broken.
Unfortunately, a lot of people will ask themselves a question like the above for real Roll Eyes

Bitcoin lacks consumer protections. It's actually not a good payment system in that regard. Those protections may or may not be necessary, but if the masses want them, they need to be built on top... maybe paypal is doing this?
That's precisely what I thought when I read "Coinbase Wallets" in the Braintree statement.
If Paypal only accepts Bitcoin from "verified Coinbase customers", they might as well offer buyer's protection / chargebacks etc.

That's not "accepting bitcoin" for their merchants, though.

I fear they're going to "capture the future masses" and make them think they own BTC, but really screw them over with little or no coins in "reserve".

We have a perfect storm for those in the know. Some really really good news, and then some "really bad news" to lower the price for us.

It probably won't. Only his email address got hacked. People are speculating about the fact if his wallet(s) are also hacked, but I doubt Satoshi would have such bad security.

Low volume dumps. We either haven't seen anything and worst is to come or there is no much will to sell at these levels anymore.

Here's a simple little graph of how many asks there are, on Bitstamp, until $520 |: As the max, within a 24 hour period; rounded to nearest thousand.

So, quite simply, I disagree. Lots of people want to sell.

EDIT: Forgot Sep 06, -- its 6k

So, NOW, all of a sudden we are supposed to believe these fake walls?  I will believe it when I see it.. that is if I see 10k BTC sold between $465 and $520.  If we got enough upward volume, I am fairly confident that a lot of those supposed walls of BTC up to $520 would disappear.... KAPUUUUUT!!!!

Don't forget he holds > 1.000.000 BTC. It may be hard to spend his coins without revealing some details about his identity to someone. If he is exposed, he doesn't have to care any more and dump, let's say, 100.000 BTC on the market to get some cash.

Satoshi e-mail hack won't directly influence the bitcoin market, because hacker won't find private keys in Satoshi's inbox, hacker doesn't have access to Satoshi's bitcoin wallet.

On the other hand, Satoshi's e-mail hack can indirectly influence the bitcoin market because Satoshi identity might be revealed. People could be satisfied with the info who Satoshi is (crypto-anarchist, God...), also could be unsatisfied with the info who Sathoshi is (some corrupted corporation, NSA, CIA...) and that could influence direction where we are heading.

At the end, if you worry too much, this news is probably nothing.
