Why do people become vegan?

Just wondering, why do people become vegan. Is this because of health, ethics or something else?

Yeah, I am also wondering why people call the non-meat eaters, vegan. Don't you guys know that frutarians do exist too?

It is not healthier to be vegan than to be on a paleo diet. It is just about not hurting animals.

In Europe we disgust the meat eaters. So we produce less and less, we destroy agriculture. BUT we are offered treaties of free trade with the North American part with their meats with hormones.

People become vegan I think because they are health conscious. But for me, my principle in diet is eat whatever you want but in moderation. It will be very torturous fornyour body to not eat what you want. So instead of torturing yourself with strict diet why not go for an alternative where you can still enjoy foods you like and yet control it.

Generally because they love animals and they don't want them to suffer. Most of us if we had for pet a pig, cow and animals we eat would be different because we would had more compassion for them

I think that now people have become very inactive and they do not need as much energy as physically active people get from meat and fish. I do not see anything wrong with this, but I like meat.

I have had countless of researches, some involves reading articles from different websites and gathering hard to find books about vegetarian behavior. And, the main reason as to why they do not eat meat is because of their sympathy to animals. Before all this, I thought the reason would be because of healthy living and the like but this reason is for those who are not truly pure blooded vegetarians. After all, our gene matrix overwhelms all reason there is.

It's mostly about culture. Some people take it as religion where eating meat is actually forbidden or taboo. I don't know why people switch to vegan, but it's really unhealthy skipping on red meat and other kinds of meat that is suitable for consumption and survival. Meat is essential to growth and development.

I don't think becoming vegan is not fun at all. Maybe for meat lovers because they do not eat meat but it is their way and we just have to respect it. Being vegan is really healthy too because all they eat are fruits and vegetables. And for the vitamins that we can get from meat, they have a lot of substitute to that.

I think people become vegan because of their change of perspective towards animals. They become vegan because they raise the advocacy of saving animals. Also, i think because eating vegetables makes them healthy.

Because of everything, but I think health.
We get too much poison in meat and animal products.
It just isn't worth it anymore.
