Of course DASH is a better alternative (technologically-wise) than bitcoin.  Almost any altcoin is better than bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the most primitive version of crypto, so there's no doubt that most altcoins are better.  There are a few that are worse, true.

1) Instant transactions - only Dash masternodes can provide this - Dash has over 4000+ of them and allows dash to scale and provide point of sale and instant double spend safe confirmations & purchasing in 1-3 seconds. No other coin has this.
2) Private Send - optional privacy that has never been broken and been working for years, still allows a transparent blockchain to allow point of sale transactions to occur instantly and be verifiable on the blockchain. All other anon coins cannot do this. Without this, there is no mainstream adoption!
3) Incentivized nodes (Masternodes) provide solid infrastructure to the network and get paid to do so unlike BTC. You need 1000 Dash to become one and have voting rights on the network for governance.
4) Governance - we have 10% blockchain funding to help market, develop and grow the network, the more we grow, the more budget we have. Masternodes vote on which projects are funded to help grow! The other 90% block rewards is (45% Masternodes & 45% Miners)

Unfortunately, I've sold all of my dash last year... now I'm just really pissed with that...
How can I support the network (apart from mining)? Can I run a masternode? and if so, will I have some benefits for that?

Too late, my friend! For now, at least, even people like myself previously oblivious to the potential of DASH will be wondering and reading up about it, just as they have been doing for ETH.

For all its tech superiority, though, it'll take a lot more than what it seems on surface for an alt to rise for the long term.

Dash is great and better than BTC...  except for its initial distribution, how do you guys address 'instamine' issue (and how it is different that premine)?
During the first 24 hours there was about 1.99 Million coins issued (current DASH coin supply 7,134,095).
Also I heard that DASH had something called "difficulty retargeting bug" when coins were mined extremely fast.

I was an altcoin chasing fool back in those days. I admittedly mined Darkcoin (now Dash), formerly known as Xcoin in the first few days. I have gotten rid of most of it through 2015/2016 after finding some balance in old wallets. I strongly dislike newbies being sold stories of a 'wonderland' called Dash when it fact it's a very centralized (supply and masternode wise) coin. The masternode concept was never about rewarding node owners or anything of that sort. It was put in place to artificially reduce the available market supply after the instamine.

I never owned any aside from arb'ing a few Darkcoin briefly during a period of 1 day maybe for $100 roughly.(prob less)
And i arb'd back in early 2014 pretty much anything LOL
Although i tried to avoid ICO shit like Ripple. (never touched it)
Never touched a dash coin ever either.. or Monero or any so called Anon coin.

I also tried to avoid Dark Coin too because i did hate it but it had lots of price surges so i got in on a couple of them back then.
If you are arb'ing for profit in the early days there was little choice on what to buy and sell.

But more and more i rapidly realized two things.
What i get to choose to arb is fast getting worse & worse. (selection)
And the ability to arb coins in a timely fashion was diminishing (Exchange stability)

The 2 above factors led me to quit trading.. the coins are corrupt and the exchanges are corrupt = I QUIT !

I did 0 trades and noticed recently i had about $25 in BTC sitting on Bittrex and bought some LTC with it just for the hell of it.. then BTC rocketed up in price LOL

Maybe 6 months before that i noticed i had $25 in there and just gave it away.
That has been the total of my trading in about 2.5 years roughly.
The game is a joke and i'd just as soon give my coins away they play a rigged scammy shithole fucktard crypto game.

Apparently some faucet site i went to back in the day keeps paying me money all year round LOL
