Question:
We all know that Satoshi disappeared after Gavin talked to the CIA...
It is mostly assumed (I think) that Satoshi left the project voluntarily..
But how do we know that the CIA didn't get to him first?
Is it not plausible that the CIA was successful in tracking him down?
Disclaimer:
I’ve been into bitcoin for about 3 years now, but I haven't used much time on this particular topic. I’m probably just missing some pieces of the puzzle…
Could somebody please fill me in on the information that I’m missing?

Not very plausible, no, as Satoshi probably used hid his IP very well, etc... so they would have nothing to go on. In any case, even if they did, so what? |

We can't know anything for sure and I don't see why would the CIA do anything to him after creating bitcoin, killing him will make things worst and make bitcoin impossible to control, I could understand If they obliged him to continue working on the project and making backdoors while threatening him but that's not the case. I believe that he actually disappeared without leaving traces because he felt like they are going to catch him and I see it as a wise decision to make.

BTC would have no value by now if they got him. The CIA could have gotten his 1M BTC, dumped them for good and leave BTC crashing if they already got Satoshi. But because it continue to have bigger price, they are still on the hot pursuit of a silhouette under their nose. |

i see absolutely no reason why the cia would bother. they have much more pressing things to do. i would be intrigued to know how possible it would have been for them to track him down if they'd put their minds to it. i think the resources of an entire nation state might have one up on one anonymous guy or group. |

the question should be "who cares!"
as franky said, the code is open source and public and the time Satoshi disappeared or better say decided to remain anonymous other developers were working on the code.
and you have to take a look at altcoins, there are thousands of them with hundreds of developers and with features such as more anonymity than bitcoin.

We have literally no idea whether or not Satoshi is controlled by the CIA or not, or if he's technically even alive at this point, but I would argue that it is more likely that if the CIA did have Satoshi there would be a lot more "government-friendly" in its approach and we likely wouldn't have the heavy free-market style that Bitcoin has today.
There's a lot that should have happened if Satoshi was actually controlled by the CIA, and a lot of those things aren't apparent yet.

Well firstly, I suspect Satoshi would be extremely good at covering their tracks if they're good enough to create Bitcoin and I doubt, especially after it was clear that Bitcoin was going to go far, that he would use the Internet in the same place consistently or on his private network.
If any governments wanted to track down Satoshi I'm sure that they would have found them by now - but what would be the point? For one thing they haven't actually committed any crimes (although to be fair American security services are hardly afraid of illegal searches or aiming for those they believe to have facilitated crime) and second, catching Satoshi wouldn't just have magically ended Bitcoin - it would still be very strong afterwards due to open source code etc - the Bitcoin community is pretty much entirely self-reliant.

Well, Bitcoin was still fairly new at that stage and they might have "abducted" him to sabotage the project. {or so they hoped} ...Look at all the stuff that happened at Guantanamo Bay detention camp.... Satoshi might have been held at one of these secret locations and they are scared to release him. {Just imagine what will happen, if it came out that Satoshi was held against his will at one of these locations} They would rather get rid of him, than having that shitstorm coming down onto them.  Anyone think that they might have turned him and that he is working for them now...  |

If they determined to find where satoshi is that they want him badly, they sure could find him by tracking everyone who has the knowledge of cryptography during that time.
But there are thousands of crimes to solve why should they ever try to find someone that wouldn't want to be found. If CIA concentrate more on the terrorism and some other crimes within just in the US alone, all their time would be spent investigating something that worth the citizen are paying. I think its better to leave Satoshi alone after all, those people in the CIA also want to have decentralized monetary system.

I am not sure if the CIA guys knew too much about the Bitcoin protocol at that time. They might have thought, if they get the main developers, they would be able to control/destroy Bitcoin. |

The 3 letter guys are extremely good in demasking ips of every internet user. Might be that Satoshi wasn't good enough to hide his tracks. |

I don't believe CIA's got Satoshi because that will have no negative consequence on Bitcoin as the source code is public and anyone could just develop it even better thereby creating more satoshis. Secondly if they've got him it's rather going to have Streisand effect on Bitcoin and escalate its usage globally.

You can't know, but what we know are the facts that: 1) Satoshi disappeared when Gavin accepted having a picnic on the CIA buildings 2) Gavin started changing and pushing for Bitcoin XT tier garbage when satoshi disappears back then, and he is on track saying things that contradict his current tweets 3) Gavin has been "fooled" by Craig Wright. I refuse to believe this, and I think he was involved into trying to mak Craig Wright "satoshi" so whatever Craig Wright said would be like the Pope speaking to a bunch of cultist idiots (for example, claiming we need to drop Core which are the original cryptopunk team, and going Bitcoin XT with benevolent dictator Hearn and whatnot) We know the code is open, but with a leader on their side, they can mold and shape the code in the way TPTB chooses to (for example, huge blocks to centralize the network and control it). There are VERY strange things about Gavin in the past few years, and those are facts. |

The CIA (and their likes) is not omnipotent or omnipresent. The US is obviously not the only pebble on the beach, there are many places in the world where no one gives a fuck about the CIA and other alphabet agencies. What if Satoshi is from China or Iran? Could they track him down? Other than that, we don't even know whether Satoshi is real at all, and not in fact a group of researchers hired by some government pursuing their own obscure ends |

As mentioned above, it doesn't matter, who cares. At this point, its moot what happened to Satoshi. The damage is done. Satoshi - whether he is gone/captured/still in hiding/whatever - was successful in getting bitcoin out there.
Satoshi is Legend.
Edit/PS: I thought I recall bitcoin technology being useful to the CIA. And wasn't there a story somewhere where the CIA actually uses bitcoin for their clandestine activities? You would think the CIA would appreciate the Satoshi.

We cant know it but if bitcoin were bad system or harmful for people , CIA could stop this system and we cant use this system too .I think bitsoin system will serve our world and this will be useful in the future so CIA can learn someting in this bitcoin system and they know if they stop system , they will not get anything!
