I propose "Reserve". The word has many applications, but one of them has to do with money and banks.

In violation of the rules, here are some suggestions.

Like "YouTube" to indicate crowd activity:
YouMoney
YouCash
YouCoins

Or spell it with a z to make it a simple brand name:
Coinz
Billz
Moniez
Fundz
Dollaz

I'd probably go with YouCash if it was my dollar.  It's simple, safe-looking, businesslike, and occupies a distinct niche.  The name even explains itself better than "Bitcoin".

vim, zim, xim  (at the same time a valid ISO 4217 code, XIM)
The backronim could be "Virtual Money", "Zerotrust Internet money", "X-Internet-Money"
"Yo dog, drop me some of 'dem zims..."

ping - to underscore it's Internet nature. "Ping me man !"

Trunumus or TrueNumus (TNS)

True, well obvious
Numus = currency in Latin

The word has a nice flow to it.

Kintsugi

or
Kintz
Kints
Xint
if you want to have it shorter.

From wikipedia:
Quote
Kintsugi (金継ぎ?) (Japanese: golden joinery) or Kintsukuroi (金繕い?) (Japanese: golden repair) is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery with a lacquer resin sprinkled with powdered gold.[1][2] Kintsugi may have originated when shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa sent a damaged Chinese tea bowl back to China for repairs in the late 15th century. When it was returned repaired with ugly metal staples, it may have prompted Japanese craftsmen to look for a more aesthetic means of repair. Collectors became so enamored of the new art that some were accused of deliberately smashing valuable pottery so it could be repaired with the gold seams of kintsugi.[1] Kintsugi became closely associated with the ceramic utensils used for Japanese tea ceremony.[2]

Don't know if I'm breaking the rules because it somehow still references gold...

Well...
All contest's rules are void from now.

Speaking of tributes :
Can we call TrueCoin UMM ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulrike_Meinhof
Of course we need good cover for this.
For what UMM might stand for ?

Or maybe we can tribute to ( in the name of)
some other famous innovative human
(or alien) ?
Call your candidates and related "name".

So you ask people to brainstorm a name and offer a reward, then just throw that away...

Good luck getting people to take your coin seriously Roll Eyes

BTW, your name idea sucks.

I like the word "credit" - it's used in futuristic science fiction and games for representing money.

+1 !
