Well, Dogecoin is as safe as you want it to be. Compared with other altcoins in existence, Dogecoin has a lot of mining hashrate backing it, which means that it's secure as a cryptocurrency for daily use. While it has stalled in development, it has managed to remain quite active over time. It's been a few years since its inception, yet Dogecoin has remained alive and actively traded within various cryptocurrency exchanges. Of course, the whole purpose of this coin was to become a mere joke, but it looks like it's being considered by others as a serious coin for profit making.

Due to the high volatility and inexpensiveness of DOGE, it's great for virtually anything you could think of such as micropayments, tipping others, day trading, and more. Fees are incredibly low, and transactions are blazing fast. While there are many advanced altcoins out there in the market which are much faster and cheaper than Dogecoin, none of them have the branding and extreme popularity this cryptocurrency has managed to obtain over the years.
