Never thought I'd actually join the cesspool that is bitcointalk, but here I am.  PART's dev team has been kicking ass, as one can see from all the github activity... https://github.com/particl/dapp-shell/commits/develop   The passive income channels that flow into the PoS make this coin very undervalued, in my opinion.  It will be interesting to see the price when the market is delivered soon.

Hey mitbf welcome on BCT ehe  Cheesy

From reddit.com/r/particl: https://www.reddit.com/r/Particl/comments/7aqpa8/monthly_discussion_thread_november_2017/dpvo8wc/

Quote from: CryptoBeans (from reddit.com/r/particl)
Have the Particl team discussed at all what other modules they are thinking of building after the marketplace app? The Roadmap on their site doesn't go past the beta marketplace and I am curious what other ways they're thinking of using this network.

Quote from: Litebit (from reddit.com/r/particl)
The focus is on the Marketplace app, but any number of apps, privacy focused or not can be put on the privacy framework. I know some of the community have floated other ideas like games and auctions or decentralized exchange. I think gathering ideas here could lead to some being developed, either by the team or other project teams.

Here's a good plug for governance on Particl. With decentralized voting cooked in, I think the community could lead the charge on planning what lies ahead for the Particl ecosystem after Q1 of 2018.
Proposals to vote on, maybe new community development teams being created. Possibly even a Particl Foundation Privacy Grant to help kickstart worthy startup teams as they begin building apps on top of Particl's Privacy Framework.

So Litebit has opened the door for community discussion of what happens post-marketplace and thought I'd port this discussion here as well as Reddit/Slack/etc. It is due for release during Q1 2018, which isn't too far away, so in my opinion, it would be better to start discussing the way forward post-mp right now so that once it is released we can move on without wasting time debating such topics. It's all about efficiency. So far, two posts were posted on Reddit, here they are:

1.1
Quote from: BrownianRatchet from (reddit.com/r/particl)
I think a Kickstarter-type dApp would complement the marketplace well. I think many of Particl's initial users will be in niche markets that rely on seed funding for the initial product and that are not adequately served by sites like Amazon and eBay. Allowing users to anonymously fund the development of products they want to buy will also result in better synchrony between the buyers and sellers, especially early on. Investors can also set their stake rewards to automatically be sent to projects they want to support long-term.

A friend told me that Kickstarter charges 10% fees for sellers, so simply on fees alone, Particl would be a strong competitor.

1,2
Quote from: Cryptoguard (from reddit.com/r/particl)
I agree this fits nicely with Particl and its marketplace. I also don't think it should be too hard to make as it is not so exotic in terms of feature.

One feature that could be interesting and similar to Kickstarter is goals/milestones. If the project doesn't reach a set miletstone, investors are refunded at no charge. Then we can get more crazy and maybe even put the option to give funders a share of your sales revenues made on Particl, though that would be more easy to game (you can just sell from another address and since Particl is anonymous people wouldn't know or couldn't enforce their share to be paid, but this assumes a dishonest seller).

One thing that Kickstarter does good is that it enforces goals. So if you reach your milestone, you have no choice to send your promised goods to customers. On Particl, this would be harder (maybe impossible) to enforce, so funders would need to do their own due diligence to decide whether a project is honest or not.

Also, I really hope we can get a tool to manage staking rewards soon because that will allow people to do all sorts of things with their stakes, be it fund a kickstarter-like project on Particl, passively donate to crypto Youtubers until we get coverage, donate to privacy and security-related organisations such as Tor, TAILS, EFF, Qubes, Purism, etc...and hopefully get on their official repos and such. I really think this would be a killer feature.

2.
Quote from: Cryptoguard (from reddit.com/r/particl)
I'd personally be very interested in a decentralized Twitter-style platform. I've always dreamt of having such a feature on Particl and it seems like we already have the infrastructure for it with the new paid messages feature

Twitter is used a lot in political discussions and it has gotten a bad reputation for heavily censoring various accounts, topics and political positions. I'm sure a lot of people know what I'm talking about. Same goes for Youtube/Facebook, but Twitter seems easier to emulate in a decentralized fashion + it would be another great reason to SPEND TIME ON THE WALLET. Once we get a web portal that'd be even better, you could post just like posting on www.twitter.com
but instead you go on www.partweet.com
or something like that

The other "dream Dapp" for my personal taste would be a Blackjack game where users can either play the game or "fund" the House and be the casino. That'd give another passive income to people and you wouldn't need to leave the wallet open. I remember back in SDC oldies there was a community member who started working on a Shadow dice game within the wallet (but that was dropped), so it's not so far fetched in terms of an idea that could be built on Particl.

Note that both these examples generate additional passive income. One through paid messages and the other by taking a risk a be the House.

Curious to see what others would like to see!

Overall I think BCT is a good platform to discuss this, so if anyone got some idea, argument or point to make on the subject, please do. Let's start planning this platform's future the way we want it to be!

Man this is really cool! I didn't know the team would be open to listening to our ideas. I'm gonna have to think on this for a bit lol. The team gets more and more impressive everyday!

I like the idea of an all-in-one platform, decentralised social media, marketplace, dex etc.

Obviously the marketplace should take priority but if the team are willing and able to add more there's no reason why Particl can't do these things.

A one-stop-shop for all things crypto could give PART the advantage BTC has. BTC is the currency we do most of our trading in, if the PART platform is capable of many things and it's used as the default currency to exchange BTC and alts on the platform it could be huge.

However, if the team decide to go down this route they must be careful to prioritise, better to do a few things well than a lot badly.

Yes, let's just say the team didn't create a decentralized voting mechanism for nothing  Smiley It's already working but currently only on CLI, but when they finally implement it on the GUI wallet then this is going to become much more interesting. We'll be able to vote on proposals, ideas and such and really get the feel of what the community want. I'm currently exploring Kialo to see how it would be a good fit for community discussions like this one. You can look at it here: www.kialo.com/tour  , from my point of view, it is the perfect fit and exactly what we need to facilitate community debates. We could discuss on Kialo, and then vote on Particl. To me that is a very good combination of governance tools.

It would even be better if we could integrate Kialo into the wallet but unfortunately they don't seem to have any APIs that we can use. A solution could be to create a similar solution of our own, whether it is a decentralized version or (hopefully temporary) centralized version with the Particl Foundation running servers (they already do run servers for the Particl Copay wallet). A decentralized version would be another thing I would like to see eventually, but not really a priority, just a really cool feature if we ever get this.

This is what I dream Particl to become! I think the team is currently building strong tools to make that possible (decentralized voting & governance, staking reward management, a modular and flexible GUI wallet, etc). We just need a strong community to use those tools I think we'd have a very strong platform.

However, if the team decide to go down this route they must be careful to prioritise, better to do a few things well than a lot badly.

Agreed, though let's not forget the team is probably gonna raise more millions with the second funding round and are going to be able to hire many more devs so we can do more at the same time! Smiley

IMHO i think a DEX is the next step after the marketplace
Found this lately https://altcoinexchange.featureupvote.com/ and voted for Particl
With the Atomic Swap activated, Particl need to be on all DEX available.

After the marketplace (or ideally before) I hope some time will be spent courting retailers, particularly electronics retailers.

Most of the things you can buy online with crypto are still Chinese tat. I'd love to see a good electronics retailer selling in Particl.

https://www.scan.co.uk/ accept BTC but through Bitpay, so really they are accepting fiat. I wonder if someone like that could be convinced to go full-crypto and post some of their goods for sale in Particl?

As you bring up atomic swaps, how close are you to make atomic swaps seamlessly possible? Is that very close or a long term goal? Would that then be possible for any digital currency?

Marketplace Alpha and Beta release in Q1 2018 is the critical path item we're working towards and the last item identified when we layed out the milestones for the Marketplace MVP.

what platforms do you use on your token?

Platform? Do you mean codebase?

If yes, Particl is built on the latest Bitcoin protocol 0.15.1 https://particl.news/release-particl-core-0-15-1-0-fbeddf20ae5

Originally we forked off 0.14.2 and upgraded to 0.15.0.1 within a week of release and 0.15.1 within a week of release. As far as I know Particl is the most complete, up-to-date Bitcoin fork besides the recent ugly-step-sister forks from Bitcoin defectors.

Plus we've enhanced it with privacy cryptography from Greg Maxwell (Confidential Transactions-CT), Shen Noether (Ring Signature Confidential Transactions-RingCT) and a couple Bitcoin Smart Contracts (yes Bitcoin does smart contracts too!) in our 2-person trustless escrow (MAD) as well as Cold Staking for quantum resistant staking.

So if some joker says we're forking Bitcoin to make Bitcoin Private, you'll know it's already here and it's called Particl

As you bring up atomic swaps, how close are you to make atomic swaps seamlessly possible? Is that very close or a long term goal? Would that then be possible for any digital currency?

For now we only have atomic swaps natively compatible with BTC, LTC, DCR and VTC. You can see this on our Github. Using them isn't intuitive and we'll be creating an interface that makes it easy to understand and simple to navigate. This won't be available in the Alpha release and may not be available in the Beta. FWiW

We'll rely on 3rd party apps like shapeshift and changelly to allow token holders of major coins to use the marketplace without needing PART. Atomic Swaps integration will rely on how many projects are preparing their coins for it and where it falls in next year's roadmap.

I think the idea of particl is really good, hopefully the decentralized peer to peer marketplace will be adopted widely and the team can implement that is planned, definitelly keep that one on my watch! Looking forward to the beta marketplace in q1 2018!

Hi gyes. WHy do you think price fall so deep? Caouse of btc?

Parts price compared to bitcoin has fallen but the equivalent dollar value has stayed the same.  Bitcoin has lost its mind so some traders are willing to get out to hold bitcoin and attempt to buy part even lower.
