Did you know you can very easily anonymize your IP address by connecting your Particl Desktop client and the Open Marketplace through the Tor network? While it cannot be done directly from Particl Desktop itself, the setup process will only take you a few minutes and is easy enough so that anyone can do it. I would actually highly recommend you do it, you never have enough privacy Smiley

To know how to setup Tor on Particl, click the link this link and follow the step-by-step tutorial -> https://particl.news/how-to-run-particl-desktop-the-open-marketplace-through-tor-dc2cbe7254
The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Hey! Letting you guys know that the Particl team is in the final stage of testing two new Open Marketplace features: Product Imports and Questions and Answers. These two features will be included in the next Particl Desktop testnet build which should be available in a couple of days. The current target to release the testnet build is mid to end of this week, but is, as always, subject to change.

We've posted the full development update on a Reddit, so you can just click this link to read it in full! -> https://www.reddit.com/r/Particl/comments/d2eg3e/open_marketplace_development_update/

Could there be NTFs as well as in opensea? Or would erc721 tokens be hard to bridge in to Particl platform?

Do you mean NFTs, as in, non-fungible tokens? If that's the case, yes, totally. There are already people selling, for example, Bitcoin for PART using the marketplace. I know Bitcoin doesn't really fit the NFT definition, but selling any other coin against PART wouldn't be different at all. The escrow system protects both buyer and seller so that the other party cannot try to cheat on the other. And there's no fee associated with that.

Are you a seller or buyer of NFT yourself?

As for your question about bridging ERC721 tokens, you mean adding these tokens as a form of payment? Adding more payment options is part of our roadmap and we should have more options, either through atomic swaps or third-party integrations, somewhere in early 2020. If you have a recommendation or request for a coin to be added as a form of payment don't hesitate to write it here or on our Discord channel, which I incidently invite you to join (discord.me/particl) Smiley

Particl Desktop 2.1.0 has just been released on testnet, bringing several UI/UX improvements and issue fixes. More importantly, this release introduces two new marketplace features: Product Imports and Q&A. As a lot of the improvements made over this release is based on the various feedback received from the community, it is recommended to download and install this build in order to keep the feedback coming.

You can get all of the details by following this link 👉 particl.news/particl-desktop-2-1-0-released-b17117d89d71

Hi I am happy to see you guys releasing a censorship free marketplace with double deposit escrow/mutually assured destruction/2 party escrow.

Thank god you guys followed through. Any plans for a web version? It's wonderful to see more projects using this concept and I hope your project is a catalyst to make something popular that I have been fighting for years to get people to use. Two party escrow should be the standard, default escrow used on TOR and other networks. In fact, the default for any serious crypto transaction. It is literally the end of scams. I wish the Bitcoin community would get their head out of their sand and look at this escrow solution. So please market it aggressively and good luck adopting it. Also is there a brief write-up of how you guys script the double deposit? There is a lot of good techniques to use for it. If you ever wanna chat just PM me.

Congrats!

Thanks David for the kind words!

We both share the same mission and vision for true censorship-proof and free eCommerce. It's a shame this concept isn't getting more attention from the wider crypto community at the moment. From a personal point of view, I believe we're both building what the crypto ecosystem should have always been: decentralized. When you really think about it, we have this awesome decentralized currency (Bitcoin), yet the entire infrastructure on which it relies is centralized and now controlled by a few central parties. What a shame...and it seems some prominent crypto public figures are fine with that. Go figure!

Wishing you much success with Bitbay! I am sure both of our projects will get their time under the spotlight. It does seem like we are trending towards a better general understanding of what we're building, especially in light of the ever-intensifying regulations around crypto and also in light of companies like Bitpay shutting down their services in some countries and prohibiting all sorts of transaction types. Doesn't feel crypto, right?

We're fighting the same fight, stay strong! Cool

Yeah it feels like the whole world is upside down. Maybe it's because I've always valued freedom and when I first came into crypto I saw so many people who were using TOR, looking at open source, caring about protocols and even minor security changes. A coin would pump just for having a more secure algorithm. So to see the sheep flock to central exchanges and not even use escrow to lose funds due to theft over and over again even on TOR is just totally something I did not expect. Where did all these self-proclaimed decentralized enthusiasts go? All these rich yahoos throwing their money into nonsense and almost deliberately avoiding decentralized tech. What about the self-proclaimed crypto-anarchists? Where did they go and why aren't they here? So here we have software solutions to the final pieces of the freedom puzzle, decentralized markets, decentralized escrow, etc. Both projects have those things and of course some differences as there is only so much time to develop, as Particl has good anonymity and BAY has the peg to stabilize the economy. Yet we fight just to get the peg on exchanges because the central exchange devs usually don't understand it or don't want to spend the time adding a custom coin (at least some have agreed, I will believe it when it happens). And yet, even with those tools the volume needs to be there. The users need to be there. Even most DEX solutions have very little volume. With the boom of 2017 the vicious pumpers made an exit on almost every token across the board. With fake premine ICO sucking out most of the funding that should have gone to legitimate projects. So when will the world learn the example Bitcoin was able to teach them? To decentralize everything.

Good news everyone! PART has finally been added to the BISQ decentralized exchange. This means PART is now available for buying and selling in a decentralized fashion and without any geographical limitation or KYC requirements.

To see how to get started, follow the link below this post. It's really not that complicated, especially for us MAD escrowers Wink

Hey everybody! Got some exciting updates for you all.

We'll be publishing the details about the Bitcoin payment module and the Spend.com relationship very soon. We have the information and details ready but are now syncing with publications and through the wires to get as much exposure as possible on these two important pieces of news.

Here are our targeted publication dates for both articles:

  • Bitcoin Payments -> This coming Thursday, the 7th of November
  • Spend.com Relationship and Bryan Woods as advisor -> Next Thursday, the 14th of November, just in time for Blockshow Asia

We've also got ANOTHER surprise cooking up (wink wink) that we believe you guys will be absolutely thrilled about, which we are targeting to announce on Thursday the 21st of November, just in time for Slush Helsinki.

Keep in mind this schedule is methodical so we can get best results and also because we want to time it well to get media exposure at the two next conferences of the "Particl World Tour" - Slush Helsinki (Finland) and Blockshow Asia (Singapore).

Dr. Kap will be making a recap video which will be included in a recap blog post this week. It will go over our thoughts coming back from this more than awesome and productive week-and-a-half going to Money2020 (Vegas), WCC (Vegas), and SFBW (Vegas).

The team has made genuine progress on ALL fronts and have made solid connections which will tremendously help the project move forward. We can't wait to be publishing these articles soon, and also to reveal our next surprise announcement likely on the 21st of November. This surprise is a big one, and the team is currently moving at a lightning fast pace! Buckle up everyone, because IT'S HAPPENING!

Disclaimer: Please keep in mind the dates mentioned in this post are not official and should not be considered as hard deadlines. They are what the team currently targets and we wanted to give you all an insight on what's coming up as to keep everyone of you in the know!

No that's not really what i meant and using collectables as in payment doesn't really make sense to me. As their value is a niche market and are based on current collector's interest.
But that question doesn't really matter now because i didn't realize that trades are handled by an escrow.
And i'll be sure to visit your discord later today. Thanks.

One thing the team has been exploring as of late is taking out the escrow for digital items (i.e. NFT tokens, digital files, etc) so that the delivery could be instant and automated. As a seller you'd have the choice. This is just preliminary exploration but that might make delivery of digital items and tokens more streamlined into the flow. Team is looking into that in a short to mid term look on it.
