People are stubborn in each own way, us included.  Some people think that ICO is one of the quickest way to get rich.  But one thing we may ask ourselves, why are we here anyway?  People come here for different reason, learning, profiting, taking advantage of naive people.  As a matter of fact people come here to search for something to invest with and they saw this ICO.  The correct sense in OP'smind maybe a taboo to other people.  Meaning each one of us have different view.  I maybe agree to OP about ICOs, but i can never call people who invest in it idiots since profit is their purpose in investing in it and we can see people who invested in legit ICO getting profit in time.  They are not for the tech or after the application.  They are just in for profit.

I do agree with you.  This had been a practiced even in non-crypto related project.  If you search the internet about crowdfunding, you can see lots of project asking for donations and pledges for these developers to start and finish their project.  It is quite different in crypto community since participating people accept a kind of token that they can sell or trade for profit.  Others out there does not even offer anything nor give an option to the donators to at least profit from donations.

Look at people who have invested in ethereum.

When you gamble in a casino you have more probability to loss than to win, it's called house edge, however with ICO you are in unknown place.

The most important things to check in ICO are :

1/Is the idea disruptive?

2/Is this a scam?

3/Are the devs telented?

If these 3 points are good then the ICo is worth investing, however it is often complicated to be sure it is not a scam.

OP is probably just pissed off for something, ICO`s are gambling you can make a big profit, but there is always a risk of losing investment. There is a lot of scam coins and its hard to make good investment every time, but everything is risky this days.

I think throwing money at ICO's for projects that you believe in the most would be a safer bet than buying up all these alts on Polo right now, due to the the price manipulation of most of them. I agree but if you check the altcoin announcement sections,there's new ico almost everyday I think they are coming from the same dev who are just repeating their previous success,and they are not going to stop unless not even one is investing.
